Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

Unfortunately, our flight from Perth was cancelled so we lost 2 days/nights of our holiday but the trip was perfect besides that. The Hyatt also kindly refunded one night which they were not obliged to do but we thought was a very fair compromise.
Easy to get around usually, but on this trip, the traffic outside of hotel was mental due to the grand opening of the new Bali Icon Shopping Mall just up the street and the hotel road was randomly closed at various times - which was a pain. Avoid Indonesian school holidays - the traffic is 10X worse according to drivers.
We ate a lot in the hotel for convenience - family group of 16 with ages ranging from 2-62 so it worked well for us and everyone was happy. Pool is fantastic and again, ticked everyone's boxes.
We had plenty of spa treatments outside of the hotel, but my favorite hands down was in the hotel spa - outstanding.

We loved how quiet it was here - shop keepers don't hassle you to look in their shops, they're happy for you to wander in if you want to. Food is affordable but not super cheap. Beach is quiet - no annoying sales people or endless jetskis or speed boats. No waves though so you can't surf.

Sanur beach isn’t that nice.
Sanur beach isn’t that nice. Brownish sand and I inviting water. Most of the restaurants along the beach feel a bit like tourist traps and there are lots of stall vendors that sell cheap souvenirs that hassle you as you walk along. Make sure you book a decent resort with a nice pool as you’ll need it to escape to for some peace. Despite it being advertised as the quiet option, I found Sanur chaotic, busy and not charming at all.

I love Sanur and will definitely return plus it's a great base to travel from. There's a 6k walkway which is full of resorts, shops and restaurants offering all types of food and drink options from local cheap eats to more expensive dining. You can hire deckchairs, bikes, get a massage, by a sarong plus it suits families and oldies without the noisy party goers. You can catch ferries from the far end, over to the islands. Also the new ICON shopping mall is opening soon, which I'm not sure is good or bad for the locals. The good thing too, walking along the walkway, is that it's mostly under the shade of beautiful trees and with the sea breeze, it's nice and cool.

Sanur was great. Relaxed, a little quieter than Legian.
Sanur was great. Relaxed, a little quieter than Legian. Lots of restaurants, good shopping and the beaches are much nicer. There is a walking track along the beach for runners, walkers and bike riders. You don't get hassled as much on this side of the island. Will definitely come back.
Cozy hotel, charming garden and retaurant. Room was nice, good air con, offered water in a glas recipient in the room, which is great and avoid the use of so many plastic water bottles. Staff super friendly and professional. The hotel offeres free bike. Hotel near the main street in Sanur with many beautiful shops. Sanur is a very lovely and relaxed neighbourhood, less crowded then other spots in Bali we went to. Not near to surf in the dry season, however.
We had such a wonderful time at this villa we wished we could have stayed longer. Muri the manager was a sweetheart always there to help out. The cleaning staff was respectful & efficient. We loved the decor & refreshing pool surrounded by lush tropical plants & flowers. Starling villas felt like an oasis. Would recommend 100% for a lovely stay in Sanur! The villa is a short walk from the main road with delicious cafes, restaurants & Kao Shala yoga studio.
We have been guests here 4 times with the hotel previously being run as The Fairmont.
The staff here (and in Sanur) are just so lovely and caring. We always leave feeling so happy and our only disappointment is we always wish we had spent more time here and less in the pretentios areas like Seminyak and Nusa Dua..
The Balinese are so relieved to have visitors returning so don't delay and book your trip to the Intercontinental Sanur now!
Everything, we were greeted by the lovely Darmi, she made us welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff are all very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The hotel is kept to a very high standard, the location is perfect . I can't stress enough to have a stay here . Thankfully we chose this as our last stay after touring Bali and Gilli Islands . Sanur it self is a great place with a nice vibe .
Lovely quiet part of Sanur but easy walk to everywhere. We had an unrenovated room in the Puri Santrian Club but it was still very nice and comfy. Breakfast and afternoon tea were great. Mezzanine Restaurant was superb. Staff were just beautiful and of all the places we've stayed in Sanur as a hotel, we'd definitely stay again.
The staff were divine, the place was old, rustic and very Bali. Just how I like it.
It has lovely pools to swim in and sun beds facing the water.
Sanur is delightful with lovely restaurants on the beach. Balinese families swimming in the morning and plenty of restaurants.
It’s my new favourite place. Shhhh don’t tell any one ❤️
It is a great hotel for families with a great entertainment area although there were balls missing from the pool table, etc. A nice kids pool area with slide.
The 2 bedroom rooms were amazing and had 2 bathrooms as well. There is a gate at the back to access the main sanur area but it closes early.
Lovely hotel situated on beach. Beautiful gardens & in great area of Sanur! Has a lovely Balinese feel to it.
We had the deluxe beach rooms upstairs with a balcony and daybed which was great! This was our 4th stay at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend. Lovely pool area too!
A beautiful Balinese style hotel in Sanur, equipped with a restaurant, breakfast buffet, and two beautiful pools. The premises are beautiful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The staff is cheerful and very helpful while assisting in what you need.
Highly recommended!
The staff are good and welcoming and attend to special requests. We knew it would not be a first choice hotel but still we chose it due to it being very close to Sanur Port and we could walk to the port in 7/8 mins for our boat very early in the next morning.
A beautiful and comfortable place to spend several days on the beach. The room is clean with all necessities you need. Service is perfect and the personell of the hotel is so attentive. We were allowed to have a late check out. Nice place to relax.
The Hotel is new, so all of the facilities are still in perfect shape. It’s right at the Sanur Beach so we can watch sunrise very well. Staff’s service and greetings is excellent. Food at breakfast is awesome! And become the highlight of my stay.
Bed, balcony, staff, shower water pressure, room in general, location (close to yoga classes at Maya Resort), plenty of storage space in room, safe in room, great value for money. It is a simple hotel, but it is a pleasant place to stay.
A great place for a family to stay in Sanur. The hotel is a good size, 12 rooms and 7 villas with a central pool and bar area.
staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay with our children and grandchildren
The old bali feel to the hotel, excellent and attentive staff. Great location, relaxing pool area and right on the beach with great views.
Felt totally relaxed for our whole stay. Will definitely be back.
Everything, especially that the room was well-maintained with great range of facilities. Price-wise it is great value for money. I always book this hotel whenever I stay in Sanur area.
Great location and lovely staff. We enjoyed the beach bar and the pool. The spa was really good too. The hotel is close to local shops and restaurants in Sanur and right on the beach.
