We were 3 single women travelling together and the room was big enough for us. The breakfast was really lovely with plenty to choose from. We had evening meals there as well and all enjoyed our meals on both nights.

Waterford is a Goldilocks city -- not too big, and not too small. The Viking Triangle is easy to see in a day, and it affords lots of good dining and shopping options. Day tripping outside of town is really great -- plan to spend a day in Tramore and along the Copper Coast, or rent a bike (or an e-bike!) and ride from Waterford to Dungarvan along the Waterford Greenway -- an exceptional experience. People here are friendly and direct -- the feeling around the city is of "pride, tempered with modesty."
(It's probably not PC to say it, but don't bother going to the Reg.) (If you have the budget stay at the Granville for a memorable experience, and an unbelievable breakfast -- serious!)

There are plenty of historical places in Waterford, but you have to buy a minimum of 5 places roving ticket. If you are greatly interested in Waterford history, then worth it, but if not, a waste. We enjoyed the countryside more.

Waterford surprised us.
Waterford surprised us. The museums are great, we enjoyed especially the Bishop's palace. All the people we interacted with were very nice, kind and helpful. The Waterford people and city council have done a great job in this last 10 years. We will go again

I liked the fact that staff changed me to another room when I complained about the noise of the boiler. However the room we stayed in was freezing and this was February and it was cold.
The staff need to be a bit flexible about breakfast times. The receptionist would not accept that we would come down between 9.30 and 10am or even at 10 minutes to 10am. She said that we had to give her an exact time to book the table! We said 10.am, which she accepted but when we got to breakfast the tables were cleared and staff said that we could have a cooked breakfast only. We stood our ground given the night we had and we did get the breakfast we would have got had she allowed us to come down at 9.45am. We got a strong impression was that it was all about what was convenient for the staff as opposed to looking after the customer. Such a pity.

I moved to Dublin earlier this year.
I moved to Dublin earlier this year. I've been to most Irish cities at this point. I decided to get out of Dublin for the night and came to Waterford on fairly short notice.
Perhaps it was the (rare) nice weather, but Waterford is now one of my favorite cities in Ireland and was the perfect place *for me* to spend ~24 hours. Note that I usually race around from the moment of arrival to the moment of leaving, so others might enjoy all that Waterford has to offer - King of The Vikings VR experience, the Time Museum, the Irish Wake museum, some silly crystal place (albeit with an impressive company store,) Constitution Square, the Medieval Museum, Bishops Palace Museum, the Silver Museum, the river bank, building murals, etc. - for two or three days.
By the way, several of those museums can be seen for one ~15-euro pass, easily bought online the day of arrival (such as I did!) There might be even cheaper options; check before you go! I'm not a museum person, but even I enjoyed everything above. https://visitwaterford.com/vw_news/waterford-treasures-launches-freedom-of-waterford-tour/
I stayed at the Waterford Marina hotel which offered a great view of the river, albeit for 160 USD for my one night there. (Did I mention I decided to go with almost no notice? This was what was available!)

Drizzle rain and rain can happen, be prepared, it is Ireland. Lots of Touristy things to do if you like doing those things. Cost of regular clothing is inexpensive and easily obtained. The pints at The Exchange were 4.60 euro, a very good price. Tipping is not expected and does not show up on tap readers or bills. There is construction throughout Ireland however if the country side is your calling, it is not far away and is very, very enchanting.
This place does not exist!
It is a rip off. Booking.com needs to remove it from their listing.
We found the pub below and they know nothing about rooms. The hotel across the street has been there for years and they don't know anything about it. The hotel clerk, who has worked there for over 20 years also found the listing and could not find the address because it doesn't exist.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS RIP OFF. DO NOT BOOK THIS!!
Everything! We loved the beautiful design and history of the hotel. The location is perfect as you step out the door and the city centre is right there. The bedroom was so nice, comfortable and quiet. Above all, the staff were fantastic! From the first hello at the reception desk to the very busy wait staff in the bar and the restaurant, they couldn't do enough for us. We can't recommend it highly enough. ☺️
The location is key with this property - we were able to walk to all the sites we were interested in seeing, including the Waterford Crystal Factory (which is actually an exceptional tour). We ate unbelievably great food in this city and visited wonderful pubs. The bar in this hotel is fabulous - we loved the bar tenders and discovered their signature drink . . . a whiskey sour. Don't pass it up!
We booked this hotel looking at the amazing reviews and the location just 5 mins away from the city centre. The check in went so smooth, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We wanted to change our room and we got it immediately without any wait. The best part about this hotel was the friendly atmosphere, the breathtaking view and the kind staff. Will definitely recommend this place❤
I and my husband spent 3 nights at the Viking Hotel and I have to say it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service better than any other hotel we stayed in.
The location is a little bit far from the city centre, but you can easily arrive there by car or by bus. A big plus for us was that the room was quiet and we could catch on our sleep.
I've stayed here several times and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. Also good to see the covid regulations were being followed, which can't be said for all places. The hotel is in a very central location across the street from the bus station and a few minutes walk to the city centre. Parking is available on the quay and costs about 6-7 euro for 24 hours.
The hotel couldn't be any more convenient. It was a great place to stop for a night. The restaurant was open late, and the food options were plentiful. The breakfast in the morning was great. The large scone with clotted cream and jam was a highlight.
Interior of hotel is fab.Room was lovely and spacious considering 4 of us shared a triple room.
Staff are lovely. Breakfast was good.Great selection.
Parking good. Hotel only 5-10 min walk down to city centre.
Would stay again.
I was satisfied with my stay at the waterford marina hotel, im caring for my 89 yr old mother here in dungarvan and I can only get away when one of my sisters comes and looks after my mother for a weekend.
Beautiful old hotel. Enjoyed the bar lounge for dinner. Great service. Breakfast in the main dinner room was very good. It’s a short distance for Waterford but allowed us a chance to rest on vacation
Very easy check-in. We required a triple room which was large enough and had everything that we required. The hotel is conveniently placed which allowed us to walk into the city centre. Well priced.
Close location to the hospital my wife is in recovering from surgery. Looks nice on the outside and the lobby. The restaurant bar area is very nice if you're a drinker. All in all a clean hotel
Great location. Friendly staff. Beds a bit firm but rooms clean and neat. Bathroom updated. Fan in room - great. Nice live music in bar. Delicious breakfast. Great hotel.
Good location just on the edge of the city centre, easy to walk to centre; view over river (but with distillery in front); secure private parking; use of hotel garden
