There are beautiful ancient temples, wineries with different plans for tasting, onsen, and lovely countryside to hike or walk. There was a lot of fruit and other local specialties - I recommend the Kikyo Shingen Mochi Factory tour (free) and shops. The lunch restaurant there is excellent.

We stayed multiple nights and the dinner menu noticeably changed and was different from the other guests that were on their first night's meal.
