Pretty city, lots to see - great museums, lovely tropical gardens, fascinating markets ( medina) but way too many tourists (like us so can't complain!). All walkable from most hotels. Good base for exploring Atlas mountains, Essuaria well worth a visit - beautful Porturgese style town on the coast. Sahara a bit far for one day trip, ideally 3 days to see it properly, but worth it.
Food good but not much variety in menus. Not much English spoken, but most locals speak French. Dont bring money (dirham) back to UK. Its illegal and no-one will change it here.

Marrakesh is very colourful and pretty Worth staying in medina as you will be based in the centre and can walk to the main attraction's like Jemaa el-Fnaa,
Jardin Majorelle, Ben Youssef Mosque and el Badi palace Also they have have some lovely Rooftop restaurants like Dardar which would need booking a week in advance and we also visited The moorish kitchen and coffee very close to the jardin gardens had some really good food too and LAdresse restaurant in Jemaa el fnaa square had really good traditional food too
We also booked excursion to Atlas mountain and Berber village Ouzoud Waterfall and Agafay Dessert
Ouzoud is beautiful and worth the boat ride too I would book the excursions with the locals as it works out cheaper There are plenty of travel agency’s there Again you need to bargain The boat ride etc you can book it at ouzoud itself as it works out a lot cheaper

My trip to Marrakech was incredible, filled with vibrant colors, beautiful aromas, rich culture, and unforgettable experiences. From exploring the bustling souks and historic palaces to relaxing in a beautiful riad with outstanding hospitality, every moment was a delightful adventure.
Just be prepared to haggle with market holders and taxis!
Be prepared to pay to take photographs of locals and market stalls. The inner walls of the city were perfectly safe to even walk as a lone female. when the sun is hot you can escape the heat by visting the gardens. Be prepared to wear modest clothing to avoid any unwanted attention. Lots of places to eat, we used trip advisor to choose where to eat. Everything is charged by the local currency and the euro. Take a half day guide to orientate yourself before you get totally lost! Lots of suppliers offering trips and adventures, we did the hot balloon trip which was great and travelled to the biggest waterfall in Morocco which was great, take a guide to get the best experience.
Beware that if folk want to show you how things are made it always results in a soft sell, but they are not offended if you say no. Avoid the ladies who offer henna for your hands and keep your hands in your pockets clarly away from them or else a single spot of henna will cost you a fortune.
The streets are full of colours and smells for all your senses, lots of cafes and resturants. We did'nt use any public toilets so I can not comment on them. The ceramics, leather are to die for!

Uniquely noisy, crazy, chaotic and dirty, but it is comfortable until people will not try to beg or rip you off constantly. Double-priced menus, bargaining and fewer rules may not be for some Europeans. The well-kept heritage buildings are great, the Atlas too, but keep it clean please to attract more tourists.

We came to Marrakech for a week, which gave us plenty of time to explore at a leisurely place. We got to explore the old and new town, the clubs, the souks, the Medina, the Agafay desert (which they call the fake desert, it's only 35mins drive from the Medina whereas the real desert is about 3hrs) where we rode camels and had a delicious authentic dinner with entertainment. I would say to prepare yourself for the main square, Jemaa El Fna; it's one of the busiest places ever been, very hectic, a wake up to all your senses. But once you get past the initial shock it's a safe place with lots going on. Be prepared for lots of motorcycles, even down the narrow streets of the souks. Donkeys and horses go down there too sometimes! The food wasn't as great as we expected, but there are lots of beautiful high end restaurants you can enjoy if you don't particularly enjoy the street food. Having said that, our best meal was a shawarma wrap from a tiny unassuming fast-food place! There is a great nightlife here (the bars and clubs don't seem to get busy until after midnight), and the souks are a much calmer and quieter place during the day, a perfect time to explore and shop. We would highly recommend staying in a Riad to get the proper authentic Moroccan experience; we stayed in Dar Najat and it was faultless! Also highly recommend going to Isis spa for a hammam, and Les Bains ce Kabira did a great hammer too!

The people were all friendly and helpful.
The people were all friendly and helpful. I did some pre-booked excursions that were outstanding. I spent 4 nights in Marrakech and walked around the city. I went up in an air balloon over the desert and went on a camel ride and a quad bike ride through the desert, followed by a fantastic show, all of which I was picked up for, near the Riad I stayed at. I ate at several very local very cheap cafes and food bars that were very good.
I would advise getting a good usable data plan for your mobile phone as this was the only thing I didn't do, and my visit would have been easier with it because it is easy to get lost in the medina. Google Maps worked well when I had free wifi in many of the places I visited.
Dear Family Bouskri and staff,
After our visit to your riad the last week, I can only have words of gratitude and admiration for your for your impeccable professionalism. The Riad Knifa is an absolutely exotic dream, with an exquisite and sophisticated interiors worthy of a 5 star hotel.
I can say that after a long time you have managed to surprise me with your attention, care, and gastronomy. My most absolute congratulations for your Riad to which I will return for sure very soon.
This Riad exceeded our expectations, it's simply lovely, probably it has been our favorite stay over our trip in Morocco. The location is inside the Medina, easy distance by walk to reach Marrakesh market and attractions. Most of all we loved the Riad's garden, we had dinner here and the atmosphere was really romantic. Great thanks to the owner, he is very kind and attentive, we got to know each other and he's really a good person.
The staff are okay except for the room. We asked for 2 twin beds but we were given a queen bed instead despite the fact that they said we were given upgrade but we didn't feel the upgrade due to the uncomfortable sofabed
We left the hotel one day prior to the devestating earthquake
We are very sad for what happened to our brothers in Marrakech and All over Morocco
We ask almity Allah to heal their wounds and bless their Dead
The staff went above and beyond to make my time with them as comfortable and stress free as possible. They helped me to find the right tours at a reasonable price. They helped me coordinate my transportation around Marrakesh. The location, fantastic few minutes from Median plaza, to me this was crucial because from this point i was able to get to others cities in Morocco much easier.
The hotel itself is really nice, very clean, the rooms are super spacious. Two outdoor pools are amazing. Breakfast - outstanding, very complete and tasty. The location is great, far from the medina but a cheap taxi away or a 30min walk. We'd stayed some days in a Riad in the heart of Marrakesh so this was a nice break from the chaos and fast rhythm of the city and the souks.
Our room was comfortable, actually the most comfortable beds we slept on during our stay in Morocco.
However, the space was tight as there were 5 of us.
We only stayed 1 night and it was nice.
The hotel location is in a slightly secluded area but within a couple of minutes walk to a busy street with bars, shops and eating places.
The staff were nice and helpful.
Everything! The staff were 5 stars, the breakfast was very good. The room was very nice too. Basically everything was perfect, the Riad was about 5 minutes from the main square, it would be hard to ask for better. I highly recommend asking for the cab that the hotel offers (20€) to get to the place safely and calmly.
Value for money, the food was good and choices were wide, several restaurants on premises, the aqua park was the reason for our stay. The room was recently remade and looked nice. The overall price to value was excellent, considering our stay was for the park with all inclusive hotel.
Riad Aya is a hidden Moroccan gem for any tourist. Riad Aya is an incredible place to stay, to live and enjoy your days in Marrakesh….Gracias to give us the opportunity to know part of Morocco culture and, big hugs for all the staff….you are amazing hosts, 100% people oriented.
Comparing to a 5 star hotels in the region.. this hotel is not more than 4 stars. But again money wise is not same price as a real 5 star hotel in Marrakesh. The real plus are the stuff really nice people but overworked out .. not enough capacity to service the full hotel !!
The property is really nice, way better than a normal hotel. From the moment you step inside, it makes you feel like you’re in Morocco. The staff is really helpful, they made my stay amazing. They are quick to reply, flexible and always happy to help.
Amazing staff, clean hotel with great spa. Food is as you would expect from an all inclusive, not bad but not fantastic. Shuttle into Marrakesh is useful. We stayed for four nights and overall a great, budget friendly trip.
I liked everything, especially the staff! I had never been in Morocco before and was not sure what to expect. The hotel was wonderful. I will be sure to book it again the next time I visit Marrakesh! Merci beaucoup!
It is not a 5 star hotel: it has a level of a 4 star hotel. So still pretty great. It is clean and the breakfast is nice. Nice to see that the hotel is attended by the locals and not only the tourists.
This is my second time staying here. Very pleasant and great all inclusive - cheap and reliable shuttle bus into Medina, variety of food buffet options for vegans, evening entertainment and pool great
