San Juan del Cabo is a cute, safe, touristy town. Everything was very expensive in the downtown area. The food was good everywhere we ate, but prices were comprable to the airport. The beaches are lovely, but most areas are not safe to swim. I rented a car, but wish I had not as I was ultimately charged double what I was promised online, parking was difficult to find, and Ubers were plentiful and affordable. I was pleasantly surprised how polite the local drivers were. The locals were polite, friendly and helpful.

Nice climate but we found it chilly some nights (Mid March) Quite expensive especially for wine unless you buy it at the supermarkets i.e. Chedraui, La Comer etc. then only 90 to 100 pesos for a decent Chilean Cab Sav or Merlot.
Not a lot of night life unless you are into ear drum destroying night clubs.
The ocean is not for swimming due to the rip tides.

Businesses on the front road Calle MANUAL DOBLADO are excellent, from breakfasts at the French Riviera to .. there's an excellent massage (facials too) place just up the road CAPRICHO,, t's perfect! To stay tacos El FOGON And I have to give props to the most delicious Italian restaurant we went to twice there's something about Their Caesar salad and I'm pretty sure the pizza's and pasta all homemade sauces, incredible wine recommendation.. is Petros down in the tourist art district. We loved the festivities, the fireworks were the best we've ever send in our lives, the love music in the plaza, the exceptional friendly kindness of the people.. the marina! The beaches! Old Town charm! Except it's sad to see that the Tropicana is under perpetual remodel and takes away from the original character that it always had been so don't do that no upgrades keep it original... Keep the Old Town charm keep the franchises out of it no Little Caesars no Subway.. Don't let the foreigners buy anything. Don't let the foreigners tell you what to do keep your festivities up until 3 AM if you want to... Keep doing what you always have done and just don't change it's perfect the way it is

We wanted to visit San Jose for a day before heading down to our time share ( of 20 years) in Cabo San Lucas. We liked the center of the town, the main street is full of local charm and small businesses, There is a stage on the main plaza with the old church and in the evening we saw dancers in colourful costumes. There are plenty of small stores and family restaurants, souvenir and food distractions.
We recommend tourists stop at San Jose on their way down to the big sophisticated resorts and immerse in the real atmosphere of the local culture.

In my Mexico experience, San Jose is a "high end"
In my Mexico experience, San Jose is a "high end"
tourist village,,,,, just what I expected,, considering all the
resorts. It is not "my" desired Mexico experience, but, I had to
visit once..If you wander away from the resorts, you can find
some real food, and local events.

This hotel is new, clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly, communicate well in English. Convenient restaurant and general store. Bed perfect for me. Very accomodating at facilitating transport to airport or into town. The location is 10 min. drive from airport. It is in a typical Mexican town setting , with dirt roads. Not much to see or do by walking. Great spot to relax before a flight out.
The best thing was the front desk staff. The ladies are so nice! Very friendly and accommodating. Sofia was my favourite..
We stayed for 5 nights and loved our stay. Location is wonderful. Pool is sparkling and relaxing. Staff are very helpful and kind. This is one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed at in years- spotless! We did change rooms from the upper floor to the lower to be closer to the pool. Proximity to the beach, restaurants, the main grocery store, cemetery, and the old town is perfect. We walked everywhere and just used taxi to and from airport. Would stay here again!
The staff was very friendly and we loved that they let us borrow beach towels, an umbrella, and cooler. It made it so much easier to do day trips to nearby beaches. The common space at the hotel is welcoming and great to relax in, we ate breakfast (that we brought, hotel doesn't do breakfast) there a few times and it was wonderful. There's a grocery store and some other shops nearby that were easy to walk to as well.
The rooms were very clean, staff was excellent; attentive, helpful with restaurant suggestions, map and directions. Some are bilingual.
We liked the location, away from big hotels and easy walking to central Plaza, old Town galleries and eateries. What we liked the most was easy walk to the slough for birding, turtles, iguanas, etc.
Breakfast is ok. But we recommend Frieda Cabo, a 5 minute walk north on Hwy 1.
lovely, peaceful hotel right in the middle of the San Jose del Cabo art district. Fun pool with a warm waterfall. Large rooms with patios with hammocks. one of the best restaurants in town Mi Cocina is located at the hotel. We had our 30 lb service dog with us snd stayed in the. Eclipse suite which was perfect, away from all the other rooms and had grass areas for her to do her business. Parking is available.
We like to come into San Jose del Cabo for a night or two and stay in/near city town center. We use to stay at Tropicana and now that it’s closed we found this place and absolutely love the location. Love the French bakery next door. The hotel was quiet and clean and for the price we have no complaints. We had a truck and they have underground parking.
The rooms were comfortable and the air conditioning worked really well. The shower had great water pressure too. They had soap and shampoo which was nice. The breakfast was delicious and convenient that it was in the hotel. Location was perfect - was a quick walk from the downtown area. Would definitely stay here again.
The design and layout of the hotel feels like a true 5 star experience! The management/service went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable. Also, the property is only a 5 min Uber drive away from downtown San José del Cabo, so going out to eat and explore was easy! Would definitely stay again!
I’ve been to the Barcelo before. I returned because it’s right on the beach, close to downtown San Jose del Cabo, has some nice pools and activities and it’s small enough to be peaceful. I opted for Premium services this time and it was worth the extra money.
Delightful boutique hotel....Very comfortable and clean. Great staff. I am very grateful that Marisol took the time to help me get a bus ticket to Todos Santos. She is an incredible host and I hope I get the opportunity to stay at the Marisol again!
Was looking for a boutique hotel in downtown san jose del cabo within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops and the beach and THIS WAS IT! Very nice, clean, comfortable and safe hotel! Would stay there again without a doubt!
The hotel and grounds are immaculate. The family friendliness of the owners is wonderful. The location is perfect for walking on the beach and going into town. It is peaceful and unassuming and cared for with love.
The hotel is close (walkable) to the airport and car rental facilities making it very convenient for the first or final day of your trip. While dining options are very limited, the small hotel bar was very sweet.
loved the boutique feel, the smallness of the property in comparison to the huge resorts around it, the decor, my comfy room, the sweet and ever helpful staff, the beach, the cool water of the pool to dip into.
Very close to the beach - friendly and family feel . If you get up early you can witness the most beautiful sunrise on the beach . Close to lots of lovely restaurants . Very friendly staff
The room was very big with two queen beds and a lot of empty space. The location of the hotel was good. Just a 15 min drive from downtown San Jose del Cabo.
