Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

The stay in Malacca was great for travelers who love to walk and get a feel of the heritage city. Even the architecture is amazing. The river walk provides plenty of opportunities for travelers to go drink at the bars in the night, walk on Jonker street, and finally try out the river cruise. In the noon, you can take a look at the beach, The Stadthuys, and A'Famosa. Food options are definitely not limited to Asam Pedas and steamboat but also Cafe's and Bars too. Given the strategic location of my hotel, getting around Malacca was easy. Be wary that I used a private vehicle (a car) so I am unable to comment on the ease of other transportation methods such as Grab/Uber. The public transportation is unavailable unfortunately. I did not see any buses/bus stops around. Please avoid riding the rickshaws when offered due to it's overprice and loud music for a short ride around town. You could enjoy the walk rather than pay for a short and worthless ride

Melaka is accessible from south or from the north.
Melaka is accessible from south or from the north. Lively town and a lot of baked fish stalls or outlets or seafood outlet for that matter. People come to Melaka for its baked fish and nasi lemak. Or fish asam pedas ( sour n spicy ) is the special menu. Other than that of course the Tom Yam menu Thai recipe.
Breakfast in Melaka is very enjoyable _ there are roti canai with asam pedas gravy, nasi lemak, malay cakes etc.

Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards Mahkota. And also some access street road near Jonker walk during weekends. This has made some inconveniences to motorists. Lot of road diversions and spiking of car park charges. All these to me otherwise most of us inconveniently travelling around the said area. Hopefully some improvement can be done in future to come. Thank you for reading this.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.
The service is great. Staff is very good at answering and responding both face to face and also online through emails. Upon check-in the staff mentioned they upgraded my room for free with an additional single bed. I was grateful for that. Wifi, tv, air conditioner, heater all working properly. Room is in clean condition. Just got one problem while booking, my card was declined. But the rest all good, the staff settled it after my online transfer done. If you come with a car, there's free parking in front of hotel - under the flyover.
I really enjoyed our one night stay in Heeren Inn! The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. He showed us a map and told us about different places we could go to try good food. The room was cosy and inviting, and had the necessary amenities provided! The place itself is a short walk to Jonker Street and the river making it super convenient. Breakfast was provided buffet style, and there was a good and yummy selection for how affordable the hotel is. Thanks a lot! Will definitely be back if we visit Malacca again!
The hotel is at walking distance to the city center and the church square. The room was very clean with all necessary facilities. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was really good in terms of varieties and quantities. Since, it was mainly Malaysian food, there was a guy from the personnel who was guiding me, what is really good try, since I am a foreigner. The concierge was very kind and helped me with the Taxi calling from the hotel to the bus station.
Location: A few minutes of walking distance from the famous San Shu Gong and most of the attractions.
Breakfast: Not too many choices but good enough to provide energy for you to walk the whole of Jonker Street.
Staff: Friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a heritage spot by itself. It has a collection of many historical displays and antique stuff. It also houses a small museum exhibiting the brief history of Malacca. Go explore it.
The room was exactly as advertised, something of a novelty on booking.com these days. Room was clean very comfortable beds crisp clean bedding and towels, great shower and good aircon. Hotel is close to old town 10 mins along river boardwalk with monitor lizards and otters enjoying the sun.many restaurants close by and a 7/11 next door. Nice breakfast included in the price.
We make a last planning trip to Malacca and only this hotel available that day. We check-in about 7pm and luckily the staff doesn't cancel the booking. The hotel is a little bit pricy for a budget hotel but it's ok since we have no choice for a same day booking. The location is good and all places is nearby.
All the way from the lobby to the room smells so nice.. i love it ❤ the room is acceptable.. so tidy and clean.. the tv also got netflix.. i went to Malacca for my 1st anniversary so the hotel near to all famous place.. overall i give 10000/10..
Love that the hotel were near the shopping malls(Dataran Pahlawan and Makhota Parade). Jonker Walk was also within 20 to 30 mins walk from the hotel. Definitely would want to be back again on a trip to Malacca to visit all the historical sites.
The room has bath tub and balcony. The swimming pool also big. Smooth check in. Free parking by tracing plate number. There is a mall below the hotel where you can find some restaurants. Located next to Malacca River. The breakfast was good.
Beautiful hotel located in the center of Malacca which makes it very convenient to visit the city.
Rooms are large, comfortable and quiet.
Hotel is very nicely decorated, a bit of stylish British block and white style. Staff very friendly.
First time coming Malacca city and this hotel is very nice for family, room very spacious, staff all very kind & friendly, the indian staff named Raj(as he mentioned) help us book grab from hotel because didn't get taxi on that time
The hotel location is very near to Bandar Hilir but still, you need a car or transportation to go there. My hotel view is great too! You can see the Menara Taming Sari, Mahkota Parade and also the St. Paul Hill from your room.
2nd time booking this hotel for my trip in Malacca, they have their own carpark n security guard will be at lobby which make me feel safe when i return in the wee hours.. Thumbs-up!
The hotel is very near to the mall.It is convenient
For breakfast it has many choices to choose very nice. This is my 4th time stay at hatten hotel when I go Malacca..
