Kathmandu is a very busy city. As it was our first time in Nepal, we decided to stay in Kathmandu instead of flying to other touristy places like Pokhara. And we didn't regret the decision. We enjoyed the trip and the overall experience was amazing. Hopefully we can go back there again and explore other cities. Nepal has a very rich history, it's amazing.

Nepal is my second home, so to speak! I always feel so happy whenever I come to Nepal. I met and connected with people when I first arrived in 2017 and they have now become family.
Great places to explore, take in the culture, the sights and the amazing food.

Kathmandu is a beautiful city full of interesting places to visit. I really love Bhaktapur ,Patan, boudhhanath ,walking around in Thamel . Thamel has many restaurants and shopping options . I love the people of Nepal ,the whole culture and jatras and festivals . Pollution and dust is the only thing I don't like about Kathmandu.

Stay away from Kathmandu especially Thamel if you can, it is noisy, polluted, dirty. As pedestrian you share the narrow alleys with hundreds of Nepalese scooter and motorbikes riders, who drive dangerously passed you, without a care about your safety. I recommend to wear masks if you don't want your lung to be filled with hazardous smog. There is an app called AirVisual which tells you how bad the air quality is in and around Kathmandu. I recommend to stay as little in Kathmandu as possible, take a taxi or bus to Bhaktapur and use it as your base instead! It has beautiful sights of historical temples walking distance away, is less overrun by scooters and hotels are very nice and are cheaper, food is delicious: try the local highly praised juju dhau (yoghurt type dessert), souvenirs are higher quality and cheaper.

There are a lot of historical places to see nearby and some nice nature excursions through day trips as well. A lot to explore in terms of culture and shopping. It can be a little dusty and polluted at times so better to wear a mask when walking around the city.

As it was my time visiting Kathmandu and I just easy choose this hotel from booking.com,The hotel is conveniently located at the heart of thamel which makes easy transportation, easy and comfortable shopping and will find food, scenics sports all nearby. It is definitely a boutique hotel which got lot of tradition and which is enriched with all modern amenities. As we have just spend one night in here which was really luxurious and memorable that we would surely like to choose the same hotel for next time.
Flying Yak is absolutely wonderful! Thank you Raj, Santosh, Ravindra, and Vikas for your kindness during our stay in Thamel. Flying Yak is clean, in a fantastic location, and has staff that is always willing to and ready to help. Loved sitting on the roof and watching the sunset, and appreciated the $10 pickup from the airport as well. I look forward to returning to Kathmandu and staying at this fabulous hotel. Plus, they’ll store your gear for no cost when you’re out trekking!
This was my third stay in Kathmandu and the best hotel experience so far. The hotel is located just few streets away from Thamel’s craziness but in such a quite point. Perfect location, great friendly staff. Rabin was texting us even before we arrived in Kathmandu and during our stay he and other staff members were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable, breakfast was ok. Check in and checkout experience was good also. I would stay there next time again.
Very clean and modern place, nice interior, good/hot showers, comfortable mattresses (not as hard as in the other Nepali hotels we have stayed), fast WiFi, quite location in Thamel. But above all this, very very friendly staff and management. They were very supportive when my friend got sick, making her tea and offered their help. The management was very flexible when we asked for some changes in our booking and did their best to meet our needs in any way.
I loved staying at Hotel Thamel. The accommodations are great, the rooms are clean, the breakfasts were delicious. The hotel is located in the center of Thamel, so close to lots of shops and easy to get around. The staff are extremely kind and welcoming, available for whatever I needed. When I got sick with the flu at the hotel the manager checked on me daily and even brought me a fruit basket! I'll definitely stay here on my next trip to Kathmandu.
Best hotel with an amazing hospitality. There are very few hotel like this in Kathmandu that has spacious hotel area. Hotel provides an amazing buffet breakfast. Room was perfect and very clean. Our main purpose of traveling to Nepal was to see Mount Everest and the hotel organized a Helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp for us. We had inquired different travel agencies about helicopter tour but we found best and affordable package at the hotel.
The BEST hotel in Thamel and all over the Kathmandu Valley.
Amazing and friendly staff, ready to help you anytime 24/7, quietful area, friendly and comfortable environment.
10/10
The place to be!! I have been all around Kathmandu and this is the the hotel in Kathmandu.
Everything works perfectly, all the services and the context is wonderful.
Room sooo clean, as the other services work perfectly.
Highly Recommendeded 100%.
We had a warm welcome by very friendly staff. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and we felt that they were very observant to travellers' needs. Special thanks to Sonika, she was genuinely very caring, kind, and professional. The hotel might be 3 stars, but the service was definitely 5 out of 5 stars. We went there back again, and they were generous to add breakfast on our second visit for free.
It was very pleasant staying with great cheerful staff of Thamel Grand Hotel. The hotel's front desk office staff Buddha and karuna were really helpful and enthusiastic person.
My wife and I had a very wonderful sight seeing/city day tour organized by the hotel's manager. The guide and Pramit was perfect who drove and explained about the historical places we visited around Kathmandu valley.
One of the best hotel in city I made last minute booking at this hotel and was right decision. Great location middle of Thamel many shops and Restaurant nearby. Nice hotel clean and very wide room 306 buffet breakfast lot's of choice. Staff are very friendly definitely coming back in future recommend The Address Kathmandu Hotel.
All the staff are so friendly and the beds are really comfortable with good linen and pillows etc… by far the best hotel I stayed at on my trip in Nepal.
Centrally located in Thamel but set back from the main area, so quiet at night. Thank you Mr Ganga for an amazing stay!
Beautiful place in Kathmandu. Walking distance to Thamel but peaceful and quiet. Lovely inner courtyard with good food and amazing staff. More than I expected. Price quality is amazing. My room was the best hotel room so far in Nepal, especially for the price.
Best hotel we’ve stayed at in Kathmandu! Staff are very nice and especially helpful with any extra request we’ve had - late check out etc. Buffet breakfast included with the stay is top notch too, plus great location in Thamel. Highly recommend to all! 👍
This was the third time I have stayed at the Kumari after staying at at least five other hotels and guesthouses in Thamel, Kathmandu. I will always return here because the staff and Boutique Hotel are simply the best.
First thing first, the hotel is located at the center of Kathmandu valley, which is Thamel. Second thing is I liked the room, staff and the services they offer. I had a wonderful stay at Doors Hotel, Thamel.
Location is the best for those who are going to the mountains in a couple of days or who came back either. The hotel has spacious modern rooms with good views of Kathmandu. Breakfast is excellent, too.
The hotel is quite, clean and the staff are very helpful and understand requests.
The location is great for exploring Thamel , Kathmandu Darbar squre and Garden of dream.
Really nice room and friendly staff. At the heart of Thamel. I stayed at other hotels in Kathmandu and this was by fair the best, given the price. Recommended!
