Hotel Galicja is a great place to stay for the travelers on the budget. To be fair, the positive remarks will be first:
- Excellent location
- Super nice staff, they go out of their way to make guests comfortable
- Hotel is super clean, housekeeping does a fantastic job
Some thing to be conciser:
It is obvious that hotel operates on a very tight budget and in bad needs of renovation/upgrades.
Bedding is very clean but do not match the mattresses. Mattresses are very old, flat and very uncomfortable to sleep on.
Something has to be done with the lightning - the room is quite dark and the motion detection light in the bathroom can be very challenging (in the middle of the shower the guest might ended up in a total dark, since the motion detector did not track any movement).
Shower/amenity kit - very, very limited.
Breakfast - quite nice, variety of food choices. The breakfast personnel, a very lovely lady named Maria, is very helpful and super nice; however, since there is an obvious budget issues, she can do only so much.
Overall - this is a tree star hotel (most likely - a two), so please do not complained if you booked your stay at Galicja with expectation of five star service. Hotel Salt next door is a better choice, a bit more upscale with more upgrades, and prices are higher.

Very beautiful old, small town.
Very beautiful old, small town. The salt mine is something that absolutely needs to be seen by any serious turist! The place is just magical and very interesting. The town itself is very unique and has a lot of surprising architectural gems. We visited a few restaurants during our stay there in different places, and the food is superb. Definitely polish, but with some unique twists and surprises. I would love to come back here in the future.

We only stayed in Wieliczka for one night, but we had a wonderful stay and were pleasantly surprised with the little town. We went to the salt mine, which is a must do if you are in the area. Afterwards we had a stroll through the town, went to the market plain and found delicious sorbet at Lody P.Maklowicz (for about $1). After exploring some of the old churches and monuments in the area we found a small restaurant, Va Banque Restauracja, where we had a really good meal-oven baked salmon with salads etc. (very big portion and good price) and we ended of our day with a coffee and sharing a piece of apple pie at Cafeteria Espresso Wieliczka. This was one of the few places that actually seemed to serve decaf coffee and the owner spoke English very well. We found that in a lot of the smaller towns in Poland even a lot of the bigger cities as well, the majority of people do not speak English or just understand it, barely. Luckily the google translate app is a big help.

Went specifically to see the salt mine.
Went specifically to see the salt mine. I wish I had researched a bit more and did the hands on miners tour and not the walk through tour. Upon finishing the tour, you have to walk about 800m through a corridor to get to the lift. Upon reaching the surface you end up about 600m from the salt mine entry point, google maps is really helpful as there isn’t much direction from the tour guides on completion of the tour once you reach the surface. “Kuchnia Smaku” does a decent feed too. We also stayed in Wieliczka and caught the train to Krakow, which was really cheap and took us straight into Krakow town centre. From there it is a short walk to the town centre and to Wawel castle (closed Monday’s). The basilica was fantastic and I highly recommend the audio tour (an extra 7pln and a 100pln deposit for the unit which you get back when you return the audio device). At Krakow main station, it’s really confusing and you have to buy tickets from an actual person from a ticket desk, I didn’t see any self help ticket machines. The ticket machine at the Wieliczka train station was also complicated as it offered options for about 6 different train lines, we just chose the first option, and there is no option to use money, just PayPass/credit card on those machines either.

Wieliczka salt mine is a place worth to see.
Wieliczka salt mine is a place worth to see. We had a tourist tour, but we are planning to return there and take a miner's tour (when our kids will be older and fit for this tour). Moreover - it takes a little ride to get from Wieliczka to Auschwitz-Birkenau museum (nazi concentration camps) and to Krakow aviation museum.
Host is very cordial, unit spotlessly clean and quiet, fast wifi, a comfortable stay for us (2 guests, can accommodate 5, perhaps even 6 with one on the sofa and with host's permission). Located close to the Salt Mine, you might need a car to get there - yes there are buses that run to Wieliczka, check the schedule. There's a small supermarket 200 m from the house (turn right onto the road) and the kitchen is complete with all necessary utensils. There's a washing machine (no dryer) if you have an extended stay.
Usually we choose higher class hotels, but this time we chose this accommodation because of the location. However, we were very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were cozy, the parking was private and safe, the breakfast was very tasty and the best part was our host. He is a super nice gentleman, he recommended us a trip to Krakow by train, excellent restaurants and tried to proactively help us with everything. He took our experience to a new level. Thank you Mariusz!
The hotel is located not far away from Krakow. This was a good option for us, because we needed one night accommodation on the way to Croatia. We are not sure there is something to of in this town) The hotel room was spacious enough for three adults. In our opinion it is ok hotel, not luxury, but much better than lot of others🙂 3 stars- is fairly described. Especially, we liked the breakfast, it was very good. And nice lady on reception was very helpful))
Everything was great! The property is behind the main road. Mariusz met us and walked us in. My Polish is still very poor, but he did everything he could to help us in English. Mariusz is very helpful, gives great information about local restaurants and attractions. The room is very spacious and comfortable. My wife and I take a 3-day get-away every couple of months and will be going back for sure.
The room was clean and very spacious. The hotel was very quiet, aided perhaps also by the thick carpets in all corridors as well as in the room. The breakfast was nicely displayed and included both savory and sweet options. There is plenty of free (unguarded) parking available right next to the hotel. We visited the salt mines and were able to walk from the hotel to the salt mines, which was nice.
Location was good, near the highway. The room and bathroom was spacious and clean and well equipped. The breakfast was standard. The car park was free and felt very secure - I left plenty of suitcases in the car, as it was parked 5m from my room. The hotel is more like a nice motel, with a nice restaurant/bar. Excellent value for money
The hosts were very accommodating and nice. The room was spacious and clean. The Host was willing to wake up at 5 am so that I can check out...Very nice. It's a little out of the city, so if you don't like dealing with as much hassle, noise, driving, and struggling to find a parking place ..its really nice
Very comfortable room with many useful amenities. Both of the rooms I stayed in had fully stocked kitchens including a stove, pans, dishes, a kettle, a refrigerator, etc.. (but no microwave). The larger room also had a clothes washing machine. Well located with a very short walk to the salt mine.
Room and bathroom are very big. Plenty of space to move around the room. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. Always topped up.
Parking is very big and free for hotel visitors. Location is very central.
We will be coming back again.
Everything. The decor, food, & facilities were great. Every interaction with the staff was pleasing. We will always stay at Hotel Lenart when bringing friends to visit Krakow in the future.
Good location. Breakfast in time for you to reach the first tour to the Salt Mine. Parking is free (although small places and rather difficult to park). You can bring your dog with you.
The hotel is located in the village in 4 km from the train station and salt mines.
Everything went smooth and looked as described.
We admired various buffet breakfast with fine cofee.
Very close to the salt mine, breakfast was really good. Room was very big, but it faced the street and there was a bit of noise so we had to close the window.
