Great location right on the Camino Portuguese path. The hosts were welcoming. We reserved 2 rooms for our group. Very nice rooms! Super clean with small balcony. We had the dinner. It was delicious! Great stay for our Camino. Highly recommend!!

We were upgraded to room #1 and it was absolute luxury. Spacious, clean and very comfortable. The location is perfect for Camino pilgrims and central to the city. Great outdoor restaurant and delicious breakfast in the morning. I absolutely recommend Casa da Ana.

This town is a car crash! - despite Unesco city of creativity.
1-2 hours plenty to look around the last remaining intact bits of town, apart from visiting on a Thursday when supposedly there is a market going on.
So many other places to see in the area!
Why waste your time?

We were there for Dance World Cup finals in Braga so didn't see a lot of Barcelos but surrounding areas very beautiful. Lots of stunning countryside covered in vineyards. Definitely would go back to explore more!

The city is beautiful and with a lot of monuments and churches to visit. It also had some pretty interesting shops in a central shopping area and some interesting looking restaurants. From traditional to hipster food- you can find everything there. The day I visited, the city had a huge market in the center, street food and entertainment. There were some traditional music concerts, traditional dancing, flower and light decorations all over... Very pretty. I was positively surprised by the mixture of historical and city-like vibes.

Barcelos is an attractive market town, worth a visit in its own right. We visited to see the famous Thursday morning market but were a little disappointed. As veterans of many markets around the world, this was large and certainly worth seeing for the wide range of delicious local produce, including ducklings and other young fowls for sale and traditional gardening and tilling instruments plus locally made diy materials. There was modern furniture too. However, we found the pottery and earthenware a little disappointing, stall after stall of basic chunky red clay pots, but few quality or hand painted items. Also few traditional cotton items for which Portugal is so renowned - towels, bedspreads, curtains, tablecloths. We could happily have spent more time exploring Barcelos itself but had only allowed time for the market, before the short drive to Porto.

Barcelos is a sleepy, medieval town where we stayed for 4 nights in total. The town has several nice bars and restaurants with numerous medieval buildings if you're after some history.
The one downside being we struggled to get Ubers out of the town and down to Porto and Braga.
Amazing family-run country estate surrounded by nature, green hills and lemon groves. The staff was extremely caring and accommodating (Phillipa, we already miss you!), facilities and location are excellent, a nice breakfast. A perfect spot for a relaxing vacation with tons of options for exciting day-trips all around the wonderful Northern Portugal. We hope to be back next year!
A superb option for a brief stay in Barcelos. Just outside the train station, which makes it convenient for anyone with an early train to catch, but it does make it a little noisy. You can hear the announcements of trains arriving, very clearly. But fortunately they stop at 10 or 11 at night, so it is possible to get a good night's sleep. Very clean and helpful staff.
Unquestionably a wonderful place to stay. Very well designed and fitted out for all that you need while travelling, every fixture in perfect working order, lovely lavender soap and shampoo, beautiful room and great view. Very clean. Good breakfast. Super helpful and pleasant staff. Wish more hotels were like that.
Close to the centre of town, and located near restaurants. Room was big enough to include a tiny desk with the only chair in the room. Largest shower I have experienced so far in Portugal. Breakfast in the main hotel was lovely.Very pleasant hotel staff both at checkin and breakfast.
Perfect localization: close to the centre of Barcelos and the IPCA campus. Nearby are cozy cafes, restaurants and shops. Room cleaned every day and new bottle of mineral water provided each day. Lovely, private small balcony and TV. Well-equipped kitchen. Very kind service staff :-)
The room had a cute little terrace which unusual for a budget hotel. The rest was adequate for the price.
I had to leave early so I couldn't try the breakfast, but the recepcionist offered to prepare a "takeaway" breakfast. I declined but it was very kind of her.
This is a great small hotel well placed to access some of the historical sites as well as supermarkets and cafes. It was clean and comfortable with friendly staff and a good breakfast. The small pool was particularly welcome on a hot day.
Modern hotel in a great location in town. We had a loft room with a double bed and two single beds, and it was equipped with a small fridge and a coffee maker. Plenty of room for 4 guests. The breakfast was fabulous.
Amazing family property, a lovely garden and pool. The family is welcoming and the staff is very helpful. Has great potential but lacks a bit of that hotel professional service that justifies the price.
The rooms are small, but very comfortable and clean. This is a professionally managed hotel with fine facilities. What sets it apart are the amazing staff and the outstanding hotel restaurant.
The location is optimal for exploring Barcelos...The interior is a mix of the old with the new...Wifi was good...The bed was comfortable...Mini bar with tea and coffee and bonus...
The hotel is located right on the El Camino route. Very clean , friendly and relaxed. Also great suggestion for Cantinga De Pelegrinos dinner up the road for €7 euros a head.
Great design and organisation especially for caminho. Excellent location. Great breakfast on the top floor with great view. Loved Barcelos, and great hostel/guest house.
The hotel, located in downtown of Barcelos, was modern and comfortable. It's a large hotel room with a double bed and 2 single beds. We enjoyed our stay.
