The location is great, not far from the main town and much quieter. The view is astonishing!! It is about $10-$15 taxi from town, but we rented a car from on of the shops in town so we could get around on our own and see abit of the island as well. Breakfast included is a continental breakfast but there is a breakfast menu if you want to buy something more like poached egg or french toast. The included continental breakfast is good if you are going out on a boat and don't want to be loaded down with food. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone knows your name and treats you like a friend. The food at the restaurant is the best I've had in the south pacific. Cocktails at sunset over the harbor was a highlight. We stayed in the queen room - the bed is really comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The bathrooms could use a bit of a joosh up and I think they were doing that when we were there. It is a remote part of Tonga and things are a bit rustic so don't expect the Hilton, but the facilities are good and there were bikes and paddleboards for us to use as well as a pool table in the main restaurant area. We had some great times meeting the locals and other cruisers there, it is very social and welcoming. The gardens are very well kept with many different tropical fruit trees and Tongan plants growing. If you are interested in that sort of thing then ask one of the staff - they are all locals - and they will tell you the names and the traditional Tongan uses for them. We even went out 'fishing' (picking up clams at low tide) with some of the staff and they told us about all the different shells and urchins they pick at low tide and we also saw the famous fishing pigs All in all a wonderful and personal experience at The Harbourview.

This property is very comfortable, relaxing, and quiet. The staff, Peta and Mau, were very helpful and accommodating with transportation to town for shopping and dinner. The owner, Kjell, was fantastic. We enjoyed conversation and learning about the culture of Tonga. Breakfast was wonderful. We loved sitting on the deck for breakfast. The reef was just off the boat dock. It is a beautiful, healthy reef with many species of fish and coral. The bay was perfect for kayaking. Thank you to Mystic Sands for a wonderful stay.

We have stayed a lot of great places and met many awesome people around the world. This resort is truly SPECIAL. If you’re coming to swim with the humpbacks, plan it with the resort which far exceeded our expectations from what we read on Trip Advisor. The whole staff and owners were amazing. The food was always Incredible. The views were absolutely beautiful. We saw whales at our dinner table upon arrival! We loved everything about this resort and plan to return with friends! Thank you, Tongan Beach Resort :)

Great choice of bars and restaurants - would recommend The Kracken, Bellavista and The Basque Tavern. All have views across the harbour. Lots of local, fresh fish dishes. For coffee visit "Coffee & Tees" or Cafe Tropicana (also very helpful with all that you need to know about Vava'u). Would suggest The Tonga Beach resort for lunch on Sunday and a swim. Fresh produce can be purchased from the local market and the fish market. Well worth a climb to to the top of Mt. Talau for the spectacular views.

Neiafu is a beautiful, laid-back small town situated on a waterfront bay with unsealed roads, surrounded by islets and islands. While relatively quiet in March, Neiafu becomes more vibrant with tourists around August and the later months, particularly for its renowned whale-watching season. The town also boasts excellent sport fishing opportunities. The people are very friendly, and there are a couple of good spots for meals and drinks. A rental car is recommended for visitors to explore the surrounding sights. Truly a place to shut the rest of the world out.

Avoid September it is most likely it will rain, but never mind whales are there!! Try the italian menu at Bellavista restaurant, or the chill-out athmosphere at the Mango or the expat-life at the Kraken, in any case, you will enjoy the relaxing environment in this little and charming south-pacific village.
