Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Taipei has tons of museums, but the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed "Road to Heaven" for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, the well connected public transportation system can take you to any Taipei hotel on Booking.com.
Taipei was a very nice place to visit. very modernized city.
Taipei was a very nice place to visit. very modernized city. a lot of interesting places to see. the only problem I faced was communicating with English language.
but generally it was an exultant trip and I would do it again if I have the chance.

Friendly people, great restaurants, interesting culture and country history. Not always cheap, so do some research beforehand!
Used a Travel Operator to go to Yehliu & Jiufen & Shifen, on a Day Tour (Departure from Ximending), I was interesting and fun.
I also found some interesting clothes shops, even though I had no intention to buy anything.
If you like tea, Taipei/Taiwan will surely reward your taste buds. But not cheap!
The famous Din Tai Fung (chain) of restaurants is pretty good, and it is worth the experience. I went to the Xinyi branch right at the opening to avoid long cues.
Taipei is a very green city, even though cars and local bikes can't stop moving around!

Taipei is a really colorful and functional city, with very kind people who are willing to help you find your direction around. I would highly recommend a visit to any of the night markets, and to try out some good Taiwanese 'Hot Pot'. The use of trains is the best and most affordable means to get around the city. Try the pineapple cakes too!

I like many places in Taiwan both natural and meseum. Maokoong gonderla , Beitou Hotpring (should prepare swimming suite), National Palace mesuem- there is a lot of beutiful art to see. I went to Jiefen old street, the view is very attractive. I think the MRT transportation and bus is very convinient and cheap. We also found many kind taiwanese that ready to help you when you get lost. I with family will be very happy and will go back again. : )

Although the city got cleaned up and modernized a lot, it still has the magic it had around the millenium. It;s a bit like Tokyo and Seoul but Taipei has that perfect vibe of hard work, fun and tollerance that you cannot find elsewhere...

First visit and love love love Taipei.
First visit and love love love Taipei. Friendly locals - got lost in a lane and a guy asked me to follow him to the main road. Even my rubbish Mandarin got me through as most people had pretty good English. Clean, safe and nice vibes!
If you want to get here from the airport, if you are transferring to a flight the next day like we did, get the 48 hour metro pass and get the MRT to Taipei Main, transfer to the Bannan Line and go 2 stops to Zhongxiao Xinsheng, leave exit 4, turn right and walk up the road to the right, turn right and walk past the garden and then walk along until you get to the crossing with the petrol station.
Nice hotel with comfy beds and a lot of space in the room which we appreciated after our flight from London.
The location is very prime. To be honest we expected that it's a proper hotel with proper room food service but it's more of an inn/motel. However the service is all in all good. Cleaning is available. The room is spacious with air-conditioning, ref, air dryer, hangers, and heater. The downside is there is no bidet. The bed is more of a spring type but it was decent. They gave us extra pillows when we needed them. For the price, the budget hotel is to go through.
Perfect location, just the opposite of Da'an Park. The hotel is 1-min walk to Da'an Park Station, Red line MRT (exit 1) and 3- min walk to exit 6 which has an elevator for those who have luggages. 20-min to Taipei Main Station by MRT. There is also a snack bar on the B1 floor which you can have snacks and drinks. 7-11 and PX mart are also nearby, 5-min walk. The room is spacious. Water pressure in both shower box and bath are very strong which I love it.
The historic Grand Hotel is a cultural landmark, and our suite did not disappoint in any way. It is a beautiful hotel and appointed in high style, from the extensive breakfast buffet to the hilltop grounds. Of all our interactions with staff, the most impressive were the Concierge staff, who were unfailingly courteous and knowledgeable and gracious in helping us to resolve a variety of travel issues. It’s a lovely post from which to explore Taipei!
Location is very good , room good size for taipei , public and personal pick transport very good, some people will complain about this hotel being old , yes but it’s fine especially if you have tried others hotels which are small , dirty, not facilities, cosmos has in house restaurant and gym bonus parking too but need to organise with hotel as space is limited
Overall if you not tried other hotels and not sure you won’t go wrong with cosmos .
The hotel was great for it's value, the receptionists are fluent/understand English and help me for booking.
The room was also spacious and completely great for it's value, it's clean and the amenities also provided
Don't forget the free breakfast, in taipei area with free breakfast? On this price point, I belive this hotel was the perfect choice for you budget travelers
Location is very good, neighbourhood around is super lively with tons of options for food and drinks, close to MRT, and it’s in Taipei proper. Value for money is pretty decent as hotels in Taipei can get outrageously expensive, so this one provides a nice budget option. Free laundry room (only dryer is paid — 500 TWD) was a great touch. Unlimited drinking water bottles.
The location is perfect! Lots of shops and restaurants in the vicinity and a subway station nearby as well. Easy to get to from International Taoyuan Airport as well. Just take the Express train to Taipei Main Station and hop on the subway there. The hotel is 5-10 mins walking from the subway station. The staff is super friendly and the room is spacious and nice.
I really enjoyed the city view and the bathroom facilities were wonderful. The bathroom features a Japanese style bath and a lovely selection of toiletries. The buffet style breakfast provided a lot of options. Overall a very comfortable stay. Although this was above my intended budget, this place is well priced compared to other hotels in the area.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, helped us move to a different room for free when there was a smell of smoke in the room
The hotel is also proximal to Zhongshan, Taipei MRT, Songshan-Nanjing and quite well connected everywhere by bus
There is good food near Zhongshan MRT and many surrounding cafes
There is a small but nice park nearby
The room is spacious & spotless. The linen, pillows, and towels smell great. The hotel is facing the Daan Park so you’ll get a good night sleep. Very near the train station, bus stop and accessible to all major landmarks in Taipei. The staffs are helpful and always smiling. With 24 hour reception is a big plus. The lobby has free snacks!
staff can communicate in english and friendly. they have a lot of suggestion what to do in taipei. location about 500meter from main station. halal restaurant just next door. if u rent a scooter there are a lot of parking spaces. recomended place to stay. choose to stay for another night at the hotel due to its hospitality.
Great location near Taipei 101 for a great price. It is a budget hotel so no lobby, no swimming pool and no complimentary breakfast. These were not important to us since we were sight seeing and only needed a clean and quiet place for the night. Near metro.
The location is convenient right by Taipei Main Station. There is free water and tea at the lobby. Hotel is alright, just overpriced. When I checked out they let me leave my backpack. The bathroom in my private room was well equiped.
We chose this hotel because it's close to a park and conveniently located with the subway and night markets. Quiet location but the busy part of town is close. A big room with a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.
I like the 1. park at the back; 2. the clean room; 3. the balcony view; 4. the Japanese style toilet; 5. the lounge with the books; 6. the hotel location; and 7. that breakfast was not overwhelming.
Excellent buffet breakfast: so many choices and variety of Japanese, Korean, Western international, Chinese n local Taiwanese food. Easy parking, closed to Taipei Botanic Garden. Spacious room.
Great location, easy to access Taipei 101 via a raised walkway adjacent to the hotel. The property feels quite grand, with an imposing foyer and polished marble galore.
