I have the low grade due to only one employee on duty. As we entered the lobby to check in, the only employee was loading a ban to transport people. We went in and sat and listed to the staff phone ring off the hook for over half an hour. Staff member was nice when she got there so this is not on her. Management need to better staff hotel and not have one employee run it. Can’t even imagine if their was an emergency with no one on premises

Not much to say about any positives; they were few and far between, and largely incidental. Bartender was nice.

Portland was pretty. The City still needs plenty of help.
Portland was pretty. The City still needs plenty of help. Lots of businesses are closed, boarded up. That's sad to see. Overall, it's lovely in other parts of town. China town was a mess with the homeless. We rode the Hop On/Hop off which was nice but don't get off in China Town. The Japanese Gardens and the International Rose Test Garden was gorgeous. The waterfalls are a must see as well as the mansion (Pittock) which is beautiful along with the self guided tour. Cannon Beach is nice if it's sunny. It was pouring down rain when we went on our tour along with high winds so you could not see anything clearly. The breweries are nice. Good beer! There are plenty of food trucks downtown if you want something quick. Huber's is nice to have dinner, oldest restaurant in Portland, unique and clean. There are nice views of the City from the (2) tallest buildings in Portland where restaurants are located. Go to the largest book store in the world, very nice! Overall, it's a pretty city and easy to get around from one end to the other. And of course, get a doughnut at Voodoo Doughnuts! It's a thing.

Great place to visit on the East coast.
Great place to visit on the East coast. Many options of forest walks within public transport of town , the gorge out east or the beaches out west.
Just a great shame that the homeless problem never seems to leave these cities.

We enjoyed exploring the west side of Portland from Park Lane Suites where we stayed. NW 23rd and NW 21st are fun streets with great shops and restaurants. The old neighborhoods are fun to walk through, admiring the historic houses and beautiful gardens. (May is a great time to see all the blooming rhododendrons!)
We enjoyed Papa Haydn's on NW 23rd. We also had a fun evening at Old Town Pizza. We first took their Shanghai Underground Tour complete with beer tasting and then enjoyed their pizza!
West Portland is full of great hiking trails in Washington Park, Hoyt Arboretum, and Forest Park.

The best thing about Portland are the family members who live there; they are the reason for our visit.
We do enjoy going to many sites in Portland including the various gardens: Rose Garden, Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Pennisula Garden, Rhodendron Garden, and just walking around neighborhoods seeing the beautiful trees and plants. Powell's Bookstore is a must. We went to a Thorn's (women's Pro soccer team) game. It was exciting. There are many good food options in Portland. We like the zoo and of course there are many sites nearby to visit including a plethora of "falls" like Multinoma and Bridal Veil.
The beauty of the city is blighted by homeless camps which lead to much litter, etc.

Portland, you're a breath of fresh air, reminiscent of my beloved Calgary with your mellow pace of life. Yet, you offer a gentle winter, free from the icy grip that defines our seasons. Your embrace of the LGBTQ community and the effortless kindness of your residents have been a revelation, challenging the media's portrayal with a beautiful reality. A heartfelt shoutout to Moxy Portland Downtown for their uniquely fabulous vibe and warm hospitality. You've been the highlight of our journey. As we conclude our road trip across the US Pacific Northwest, it's clear—Portland, you're the perfect finale. 🌲✨
We had a great multi-night stay at Zags as a family with two teenagers & a dog. Had fun in the game room one night playing pool, shuffleboard, darts & more. Loved the equipment locker with guitars, ukuleles, skateboards & more. My son and I took advantage of the 24 Hour Fitness affiliation and went to the across town club (rather than the one close by) to use their basketball court. Downtown Portland is very walkable, and the hotel allows easy access by foot to everything the Rose City has to offer.
We spent 4 weeks driving around the US and Canada staying in 14 hotels and this was the best hotel in every respect of the 4 weeks. The junior Suite was exceptionally well equipped, furnished, decorated and the linen etc was superb. We could not find fault with the place and the staff were excellent too - We had three nights here and it was a great location for exploring Portland as we could walk everywhere and the Hotel is adjacent but not in the bustling bar and restaurant area
Friendly, helpful, and knowledge staff. Easy freeway access, only a few min drive to downtown, Pearl District, and Old Town. Free coffee all day. Free and ample parking, dog friendly. Indoor slippers, bench for luggage/putting on shoes, and black makeup towels are a nice touch. Deluxe King room is bigger than the picture shows and has a nicely equipped kitchen with a full size fridge. Sound proofing between rooms is better than expected.
Newly renovated with cute vintage touches. It was in a good location and we visited on the weekend, so there were no big issues with street parking. Easy access to things on East Burnside and a 10-minute walk across the bridge to downtown Portland. The hotel had a fun nordic themed restaurant, plus a rooftop bar which was nice when we wanted to lounge around the hotel during our free time. Staff was really kind, welcoming, and helpful.
Great downtown location. We are long time visitors at this old classic Portland hotel. But this was our first visit since the change of ownership. The rooms have been nicely updated. We went during an epic snow and ice storm as we had been without power at home for 4 days. There were many challenges for the staff posed by the storm and they did a great job holding things together and providing excellent hospitality.
This is a nice, basic place in a very convenient location downtown, close to the waterfront, shops and restaurants, and public transport. My room provided everything necessary for a comfortable stay, all appliances worked well, and the staff was terrific. The tram went right by my window, which was a bit noisy, but it didn't affect me too much overall. I would happily stay here again on a future visit to Portland.
The room was clean and exactly how described on the site. The bed and bedding was so comfortable. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The location and parking was perfect for checking out the downtown area. We had a great time at the hotel restaurant and bar. I would recommend The Hotel Rose to anyone traveling to Portland.
Location is fabulous, near the Pearl District, close to the tram to the airport and to Washington Park.
Rooms are small but very comfortable and we had a great view from the 7th floor over Portland.
The restaurant is outstanding and I think this might be the best breakfast in town, incredible quality!
Very nice place to stay. It was close to the restaurant and it was nice to have a shuttle to the airport. The room was very spacious, beds were comfortable, breakfast very good and we felt very safe. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and next time we are back in Portland we will stay there again.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, excellent value for money and a really great location. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the AC works well, and walking distance to both downtown and excellent food. The staff are very friendly. I would definitely stay again!
Great location in downtown Portland, and it’s close to cheap parking garages. The room was well laid out and comfortable, and being on the 20th floor we had a fantastic view. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable, so both of us slept really well.
Great hotel, not the best location, some homeless and junkies outside unfortunately, but that whole area of Portland is like this now. They’ve got security out front and super friendly staff, stylish amenities, we had a great time there.
I love everything about this hotel. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. The view and location are excellent. It's easy to walk any where around downtown. I will be back
in my next visit in Portland.
Reception staff kindly accepted my check-in even after 11pm
Located in the center of Portland downtown
Great options for breakfast (incl. near cafe, near another Hilton)
Good services and amenities. Best hotel coffee and tisanes. Perfect location for Portland downtown. All the rooms all well equipped. Breakfast is only continental.
Cute hotel in downtown Portland, good location, pretty close to the shops. Bathroom is nice and spacious with the bath tub. Free coffee and muffins every morning.
