FAQs about hotels in Seattle

The Emerald City

Nicknamed the Emerald City due to its lush greenery, Seattle is best known for its great waterfront, fantastic skyline and infamous rainy weather. In reality though, the city gets less rain a year than New York or Atlanta!

One look at Seattle’s skyline and you’re immediately drawn to the iconic Space Needle. Standing proudly at 600 feet, this major landmark features a rotating restaurant at 490 feet and has been featured in numerous films and TV shows, including the classic "Sleepless in Seattle."

The Needle isn't far from the popular Pike Place Market, a public farmer’s market selling fresh produce and crafts from local farms and independent merchants. It’s also the place where the Starbucks Corporation was founded in 1971. Enjoy a cup of coffee in their original store! Seattle has many popular parks and, thanks to its mild marine climate, is a great place for outdoor activities. A visit to Kerry Park to admire the best view of the city with Mt. Rainier in the background is a must!

Arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, you’re only about 35 minutes from downtown and whether you’re looking for a hotel with free parking or near the airport, Booking.com has a great choice for your Seattle trip.

The Chihuly Art Gallery was fantastic!

The Chihuly Art Gallery was fantastic! The SAM Art Museum was quite lovely as well. Pike Place market did not disappoint with so many cute little shops, foodie establishments and artisans. The food was amazing in Seattle although it comes at a cost! Had a lovely time! I walked almost everywhere and took the sky train once, super easy to navigate!

Seattle is a beautiful city with so much history.

Seattle is a beautiful city with so much history. The traffic can be challenging during rush hour so timing your visit is important. Ferry rides, underground tours, the space needle. The car museum is a few miles out of town but has always been a favorite of my husband's.

I was only able to stay a couple of days since the purpose of my trip was just to move my child to Seattle. However, we tried to get out and do a few things. It was a lot of fun and I hope to go back and take in some of the larger sights such as the Space Needle. The Market Place was a blast and had WAY more to offer than we originally thought.

The history of settlers is unique and rugged.

The history of settlers is unique and rugged. I loved this hostel for being in Chinatown. They (Chinese) are beautiful people but were treated very badly and abused in Seattle and other PNW towns during railroad slavery days. Their culture has survived and they share wonderful foods and healing methods with us. Anywhere around the hostel you will find great little shops & restaurants.

Had forgotten how vibrant and interesting Seattle could be, it is truly an international destination and well worth a visit. However, the homelessness and drug problems are visible throughout the city, but safety was never really a concern as we walked to all of the city sights and through a number of neighborhoods.

Went to Seattle for my birthday and to go to a concert (...

Went to Seattle for my birthday and to go to a concert (Nothing But Thieves at the Paramount) so I was nervous about the weather this time of year because I've always heard it rains a lot, and I was going to spend a long time in line outside, however, the whole trip it really only drizzled, and when it did rain it only lasted a few minutes. After the show, we went to Life on Mars, a record store and bar in Capitol Hill, just a few blocks from venue, which serves some of the best food I've had in a long time, and it's all plant based. If that's something you're open to, I recommend the disco fries and shepard's pie. Rue, our server, was the sweetest. Keep in mind the city sales tax is 10%. When venturing into the city, I recommend taking the monorail to the Space Needle and MoPOP, it's a 3min ride and you'll want to be able to spend as much time in that area as you can. The Pike Place Public Market gets packed so arrive early, there's a great Russian bakery called Piroshki Piroshki just outside and their seasonal flavors sell out quick. Getting around Seattle is relatively easy but expect to walk up and down some hills. Otherwise, get to know the train station locations. If you can, head to the Fremont Troll, and he'll grant a wish for you so long as you write it down on a piece of paper. I wasn't expecting that to be a thing, but it was a pleasant surprise.

The location was brilliant with easy access to the mono rail and the light railway to SEATAC airport. Also a very central location in downtown Seattle. The staff were really helpful and friendly and our room was fabulous: we upgraded on arrival and were lucky enough to get a suite, situated on a corner of the building with views in 2 directions, especially good to see the Seafarers Parade which happened on Saturday evening. Thank you Mayflower!

The location of this hotel in terms of center of the downtown Seattle, is perfect. The room was big and had all the basic amenities, especially drinking water bottles, tea/coffee machine. The staff was courteous. Free wine and snacks during happy hours i.e. from 5pm to 6pm was indeed a pleasant surprise and a value add.
