Amazing view from the huge terrace, where we watched the beautiful sunset and the wales. Located close to tidal pools.
Perfectly clean and equipped with everything you could need.

The host (Johannes) was able to accommodate me last minute deciding to arrive early which was amazing and allowed me a day of exploring without luggage.
Location is a short walk from a beautiful coastal hiking trail and beaches to explore and Johannes was so helpful with suggestions for where to go and directions on how to get there. The surrounding area feels very safe, as a solo female traveller, I felt comfortable walking places even after dark.
I was offered a free room upgrade as I was the only guest for the night. The room was bright and clean and the whole bnb was decorated and felt homey. The breakfast in the morning was filling and made by Johannes himself.
Johannes was also able to arrange a shuttle to take me to my next destination.
I’ve been staying in hostels so this was a very nice change and honestly the best sleep I’ve had since arriving in SA! Thank you!
The hospitality of the people was genuine.
The overall scenery of the town, beach, and ocean are beautiful.
The safety of the guesthouse and surroundings were comforting.
The host, Johannes, personality is like meeting a friend.
I will go back again.

Small, laid-back town with many activities in and around and some good restaurants. I also enjoyed visiting nearby towns like Hermanus & Stanford. Highlights were Shark Cage Diving, Klein River Cheese Farm and the Elgin Valley Wine Farms. Some nice hiking options in the area as well & De Kelders is great for whale watching and walks along the ocean.

Gansbaai still feels like a real fishing town although there is a big centre with Spar as the main tenant.
There is a lot to do if you are someone that needs to stay active: walking trails, horse riding, wine tasting, and bicycle routes. You can go shark diving or watch the seals at Dyer Island.
You can walk all the way from Kleinbaai to Franskraal or just relax on the beach.
You can play in the lagoon or swim in the sea. Never a dull moment.

There doesn’t seem like much to do this time of year unless you have reliable transportation. I guess it would be an ok home base but would still be a drive to anything. Beach access is almost impossible. If you want quiet with incredible views, this is your town. We did eat at a great restaurant but I think there are only a few places in town. It was tough to find a place for a pre dinner drink.
Helen is definitely the best host ever.
She made us feel at home, with her kindness and her attention for every details.
The room was nice and tidy, the bathroom perfectly clean and Helen cuddled us with a serie of lovely attentions.
We had all the lower level for us and we felt as we were at home.
The house is amazing, very clean and it is in one of the best neighbourhood in Gansbaai; the view of the ocean is superbe and if you're lucky enough you can see whales too from the window.
The breakfast was lovely and we really enjoy it.
This is a beautiful and well equipped apartment situated just above the Gansbaai harbor overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Everything is absolutely perfect: the view, outside porch with outdoor barbecue, the bigscreen TV, beds, linen, kitchen equipment, bathrooms, etc. Most of all, there are numerous activities in close vicinity, which include diving with white sharks as well as whales, dolphins, penguins, and seal watching. Gansbaai is definitely worth a visit, and 1 Harbour Rd is the perfect place to stay.
The apartment was very good value, although basic had everything that was needed. Needed to keep a window open as condensation was a problem but the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, walkable distance from the cliff path. Great cafes nearby especially Gansbaai Bakery. Great service food ,really quirky.Chantal and Francois were really helpful and offered loads of advice about local area.
This house feels like holiday! Everything is neat, clean and thoughtfully planned for your comfort. The kitchen is well-equipped. The glassed in braai patio lets you enjoy the view while relaxing and braaiing even in bad weather. There were ample heaters and warm blankets on our bed. The host was most welcoming, friendly and responsive.
If you are looking for a holiday destination that is peaceful and without the busy of other destinations then Gaansbaai is for u.
McLaren self catering is the place for u to stay with family, has everything u require to keep yourself fed and accommodated while on holiday.
Thank you Leigh
The Hotel is having exceptional facilities-with great sea-facing luxury rooms with picturesque ocean views. The Hotel staff was extremely friendly, more welcoming and helpful. They went to an extra mile to offer the best service money can buy.
Beautiful, felt luxurious, amazing bath, stunning pool. Cool old school style with the fittings. This felt almost more like a lavish hotel with a kitchenette but no meals. The kitchenette was very European - like a Swiss Army knife
Perfection! This is a top notch guest house, easily comparable to a 5 star hotel!
The staff and hosts were amazing, breakfast superb, and the views were astonishingly beautiful!
highly recommended, will definitely return.
This is the perfect hotel, fantastic view, excellent customer service, nice room, nice design, facilities, good Wifi, spacious parking, nice pool, very good breakfast, high involvement from the owner, good talks!
This was the perfect little hotel to enjoy Gansbaai. The owners are incredibly hospitable and welcoming. The hotel and rooms have a great view of the ocean. Overall recommended!
It was self catering. The hosts took us to the nature reserve and we had breakfast on the rocks with the most amazing views. Gansbaai is so peaceful and tranquil.
Service was exceptional. Staff was friendly. The bed I slept in made me feel like I'm on cloud 9. The breakfast was delicious. And they didn't have cheap coffee!!!
