a wonderful place with so much to do - the sacre monte, lots and lots of historic gardens, in walking distance the Villa Panza with amazing art and gardens - have lunch there it is fabulous. Also just staying by the pool with its views is amazing it's a shame it closes it 7pm - it really warrants longer hours.

Despite traveling to Italy yearly, I had never visited Varese until now. I was initially hesitant to stay in Varese since I needed to be within an hour from Milan for the Salone del Mobile, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city. Varese was vibrant both during the day and at night, with a plethora of excellent restaurants and cafes to explore. Its proximity to the stunning lakes of Como and Varese was also a huge plus. The sight of the snow-covered Alps provided a picturesque backdrop that made Varese even more special. The charming cobbled streets in the city center were lined with pretty buildings that showcased the history of the area. Although we only stayed for two days, I could have easily extended my stay for a week or more.

Varese is a great location for "lake hoping", where every day we saw a different lake. I recommend two restaurants: The Hotel Colonne and La Vecchia Varese. Both have excellent and authentic food, with friendly staff and wonderful service.

We traveled to Varese for 3 days to see the Sacro Monte...
We traveled to Varese for 3 days to see the Sacro Monte located a few miles outside the town - part of a self guided tour of these unique sites in Lombardy and the Piedmonte. We ventured into the old town in search of a restaurant one night which was pretty frustrating - mostly bars and fast food in that area, so we ate at the hotel the other nights. The town is a mixture of beautiful older Italian villas and awful 1960’s and ‘70’s apartment buildings - kind of a hodgepodge. The areas in the hills around Varese are lovely with beautiful views.

We were passing through.
We were passing through. By bike we made a great tour into the mountains. Varese itself is not too interesting: just a rich-peoples city with good restaurantfacilities.
You can visit the lake(s) for a swim, you can bike and walk in the mounrains.
Lovely hotel close to Varese and the Lake, set on a very large piece of land. (great for our dog) Hotel is very modern, rooms are big and comfortable as is the bathroom. Hotel is fully air-conditioned. Breakfast is fantastic especially for Italian standards. So much fresh fruit, different types of nuts, cereal, yogourt, bread, eggs, cheese, ham etc.
There is lots of free parking available on property. The young man from El Salvador at breakfast was amazing. So helpful and so customer service oriented.
The apartment is great for a sleep over. The apartment is clean, easy to access (even dough via a stairs), parking in the front and some restaurants nearby.
I have seen the feedback about the breakfast, but it is Italian. Also well explained at arrival. Still with some other groceries from the refrigerator it was good enough to start your day.
The host is very kind, speaks well English and easy to manage that the arrival went smooth.
I will keep this in mind for a next trip to Italy.
amazing place smack bang in the middle of Varese. I have stayed here multiple times and it is excellent every time. staff is super friendly and helpful, cleaning is always done super well. I have absolutely 0 complaints about this place! and the fact that they have house cats makes my heart melt. Could not recommend this place any higher, has everything you need and perfect place to explore Varese and surrounding areas from. Good Wi-Fi so no problems working from the hotel rooms 10/10
Staying here is a gorgeous experience. The hotel breathes the spirit of a long-gone era. You can easily feel like living in a Thomas Mann novel. The views from the rooms over Lake Varese are breathtaking, the historic interior of the hotel has been beautifully preserved. The gardens with the elegant bar, the luxurious pool area, polite and well-mannered staff, the breakfast with view over the lake, this is all exceptional. I loved being here.
Everything was amazing! Francesca was super helpful and gave us all the information we needed ahead of our stay. Her garage was available for us for free which was very useful (only small or medium size cars can fit in it).
The apartment was very clean and extremely spacious. Plenty of room for everyone. It's 5 minute walk from the center and there were few big food supermarkets nearby. We recommend staying in Varese.
The most generous and accommodating hosts ever. They gave us a room to practice in. (Musicians with a gig that night) and parking for the other band members. So generous. All of the staff are terrific. Espresso in the morning to take up to the room for my wife. The room is great. We come to Varese to play a couple of times a year and previously stayed at Albergo Crystal but this is much better.
Owner of the property "Francesca" was very kind. She communicate very well and help us with everything. She recommend what to do, where to go, what to see,.... The accommodation itself has pretty romantic view on the city center and mountains on background. It was big enough for our family with kids and clean. It was also well equipped apartment. Everything was there.
Cosy and well equipped small apartment - very clean and a large comfy bed. Good location and cheap parking nearby. 15 minutes walk into Varese old town and 5 minutes walk to C route bus to Sacro Monte (a must see UNESCO site) - funicular runs at weekends to avoid long walk up!! Owners very responsive.
Amazing hotel with its own unique vibe, liked this place a lot. Old furniture from 19/20 century.
Really recommend this place for a stay.
Amazing view from the room. And from this village itself.
Great and helpfull staff.
We also stayed for the dinner with candles, romantic atmosphere.
Wonderful breakfast (fresh fruits, cakes, cereals etc), quiet rooms, very friendly service. We had been staying here 3 years ago on the way to Tuscany and were happy to see that the hotel was as good as we remembered. We will be back when visiting Italy again in the future.
The hotel seems to recover after 2 years it was closed (reopened in March 2022). The room was clean and fine (beside the shower that leaked). Staff was fine and allow early check in with no additional cost. Swimming pool is still close.
The hotel was in the perfect location for our visit to family in Varese. The hotel was clean and air conditioning worked well. The room was quiet and the view of the mountains was lovely.
A perfect place to stay in Varese. We visited the both lakes Maggiore and Como, in two days, and this hotel was our peaceful place to rest. Very nice hospitality and very good breakfast!
The hotel staff were so kind and nice, they helped us with recommendations about places to travel, we arrived late and got a warm greeting, room was very clean and comfortable.
