We booked a fairly last minute stay to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary, and being heavily pregnant I was looking for somewhere cosy, relaxing and rejuvenating. We were ever so kindly given a complimentary upgrade to the Elysian, and our suite was absolutely stunning. Incredibly spacious, modern and comfortable. I loved the thoughtful extras, like the ice machine and the 'proper' coffee machine with milk frother! The view across the balcony onto the fields was beautiful, and really set the scene when relaxing in the hot tub. The lovely breakfast was easily ordered via a QR code from the room, and delivered to the room in the morning - big portions, kept us full all day! The bed was incredibly comfortable - no easy feat at this stage of my pregnancy, and was greatly appreciated to have been given extra pillows as requested (pillows also incredibly soft!). We paid the extra for the late checkout, which made the stay feel far less rushed in the morning. The staff were lovely and friendly, and we would absolutely love to stay here again and be able to fully appreciate the sauna and hot tub etc. Thank you for our much needed break!

Originally we stayed at the hotel which was lovely but then we moved to the Lake House which was absolutely wonderful - we tried both restaurants - both amazing - as were the staff - to name a couple Dave who drove us to the restaurant from the Lake House and back again - nothing was too much trouble - Emma the lovely receptionist who is an absolute credit to the Gilpin and the barman at the Lake House - in fact, all staff were amazing and a complete credit to this wonderful family run hotel. We’ll definitely return

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I liked the Beatrix Potter museum, Holehird Gardens, and Stagshaw gardens, Hayes garden centre up in Ambleside. Booked an amazing day trip with Mountain Goat tours that took us around ten Lakes of the Lake District with our amazing guide Mark Shipley. the restaurants I went to was Francine's up in Windermere, Urban Food House (superb) and the Magic Roundabout. I was within walking distance of everything in Bowness. I probably would avoid booking in the school holidays, was very busy everywhere. the weather was very changeable but it is the wettest area of Great Britain.

Visiting Bowness in November was a great idea.
Visiting Bowness in November was a great idea. I have been in the summer before and it is so busy it is unpleasant and parking is difficult. I would advise visitors to choose a hotel with private parking - preferably free, some charge for parking - leave a car there and walk to town or to the lakeside. Also be aware that Bowness is built on a steep hill and not all roads have pavements.

The town and area around Bowness are beautiful.
The town and area around Bowness are beautiful. We were able to walk and visit an amazing Arts and Crafts house and then see a very undeveloped part of the lake shore on foot. The ferry across the lake was nearby and the walk to Hill Top to see Beatrix Potter's house was beautiful and well signed. We had good meals in a pub and bistro near to Fairfield House so not needing to use the car made the location great for us.

Breakfast was lovely, beautifully presented, Karol and Nigel are pleasant and always attentive. The Covid situation has prevented the full array of choice, self serve cereals, fruit etc at the present time, but for us it was not a problem. The en suite room was bright and comfy. Its position is just a few hundred metres from all that's going on at Bowness on Windermere, we love it here. Value for money, hosts are friendly and helpful, even tips on local walks to take.
This is an exceptional bed and breakfast hotel in the heart of Bowness. Close to all the pubs, restaurants, shops and the lakeside, though up a short steep hill!! The bedroom (room 4) was very spacious and clean with a superb bath and shower. Nick the host also provides a few welcome added touches such as homemade cakes, bottles of water and fresh milk. There was a choice of cooked full English or Vegetarian breakfasts, plus bread, cereals and yoghurts.
Excellent location and only a short walk to Bowness on Windermere pier as well as the shops and other eateries if you desire. Friendly and helpful staff -we couldn't fault our break. We booked the Deluxe Bay room and it didn't disappoint. A nice large room with a huge comfortable bed and a lovely big bathroom. Good wi fi and parking right next to our property/room. Breakfast excellent choice and very tasty.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Fellview. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and we had a great night's sleep. Very central location, only a few minutes walk down the road to Bowness on Windermere. Free parking outside the guest house. We would 100% recommend and look forward to staying again soon.

Beautiful hotel in ideal location in Bowness on Windermere with nice gardens and lake views. Comfortable bed and nice bedding. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and we had a table overlooking lake. We stayed here many years ago and the hotel has been nicely upgraded since.
Great apartment with everything you need, spacious, well equipped, clean and modern. Location also excellent as it's up the hill from the middle of town, with some nice views of Lake Windermere, but still only a 10min walk in via a relatively flat shortcut.
