We like this area due to the beach, the local tavernas and the hotels. Kimatogi is our favourite taverna with delicious specials every day and our favourite hotel is Renieries on the top of the hill, with beautiful view and with the family athmosphere.
You can easily go to Chania with the bus which stops many places in Stalos. From this area the tourist buses also can pick you up easily if you want to visit Elafonissi, Balos/Gramvousa,Samaria Gorge but also to the other area of the Island.
Or with going by car it's also easy to get around and it's near to a junction to the Speed way.

Too quiet not enough to do and see.
Too quiet not enough to do and see. Restaurants not typically Greek mainly serving pizza and pasta. Couldn't get coffee before 9.am. There was no bakery. A lot of properties very run down. Very few general retail shops. It was better to catch the bus into Chania

We booked this hotel to be close to Chania but were very pleasantly surprised about what Stalos had to offer. We spent more time there than expected as it had a good selection of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Lovely beach and a short(but busy) bus ride to Chania. An ideal base.

Stalos is mainly low rise and less heavily developed than further west. The live music at Dionysus taverna was excellent. The breakfast at Evilion bistro is also excellent and very good value.
There is good walking up into the hills through the olive groves. Lake Agia via Pano Stalos and Kirtomades (turn left at the bottom) takes about 1.5 hours though the cafe is closed on a Monday.

We only stayed for one night as we arrived late in Chania and needed a hotel close to the airport. The apartment was really nice and clean and satisfied our needs. Our plane was delayed and the owner was waiting for as to check in late. We could park a car in nearby car park. There was a lovely swimming pool and a garden. Beach only half a minute walk.
Right on the beach! Beautiful sand, short walk from back of hotel to clean beach water. No slippery rocks, no sea urchins, can swim without care. Beach chairs available at hotel and adjacent. Excellent food options steps away. Parking available too. Super convenient. Room cleaning daily. Nice balcony, fully stocked kitchen and refrigerator, cooktop. Laundry line with clothespins on balcony, very convenient!
We spent a lovely holiday at Ilios village. The villas are beautifully located, very clean and well-equipped. Also, Dimitris is an amazing host - super kind and helpful. It’s worth renting a car, local beaches are just few minutes drive away and Stalos is a good starting point for longer trips to visit Crete’s west and south coast. Highly recommend!
We had a 1-week stay at this place and it was a wonderful experience for us. The owners made us feel at home; they were trying their best to make our stay a great one which was actually. Rooms are renovated and comfy, and the hotel location is quite central in the middle of the most beautiful beaches in Chania. We highly recommend!
If you are looking for a luxury resort, this is not your place. It is simple, but the rooms are spacious, the inner courtyard is green and appealing, and the village is peaceful and just lovely. The sandy beach is just 50 metres away. Nice little pool area and just everything you need in a traditional apartment-hotel style.
Manolis the host was very helpful and welcoming. He was very kind with us and gave us a lot of information about Crete. He booked the excursions for us as well. The hotel is very clean and the ambient is quite. Perfect for travel couples. We had fun and will surely visit again. Thank you so much Manolis, you're the best :D
We loved the hotel. The location was right across the street from the beach. Small kitchen (pretty much a hot plate, sink, and mini fridge), but we didn’t use the kitchen anyways. There were two pools that the kids loved. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was plenty spacious for our family of five.
Great location, nice interior, lovely breakfastc peaceful and quiet (exactly what we wanted) and Katerina is just an absolute star. She organised taxis for us and also let us check out later just so we could have one last morning at the beach (and all at no extra cost!).
Nice small hotel (about 9 apartments) with private sand beach including umbrellas, sunbeds and shower. Helpful staff. Perfect cleaning service. All services nearby: restaurants, small supermarkets, car rentals, bus stop to Chania. We believe we will come again.
The location is superb if you like to have a beach holiday. They do not have own restaurant, but nearest hotel have a very good on the beach! You can travel by bus Chania. They have own parking place!
It is suitable for a large family with 5-8 persons.
Made us feel like family, very nice and attentive staff
The drinks and food were all delicious. We kept regretting getting going other places with fake reviews that ended up being tourist traps.
They had very hot water for great showers
Free beach chairs
Location - in the town of Stalos, touristy place, lots of shops around and the hotel is basically on the beach.
Beach is mostly sandy however there are some little pebbles in the beginning. Theoutsideof this hotel is very well maintained and pleasant.
Perfect stay in Stalos. Full furnished and modern apartment, clean and comfortable, especially the mattress.
The hosts are very welcoming, nice and always available.
It was the best stay we had in Crete (we went around the island changing 5 studios).
We were very happy with our stay. We would definitely come back if we ever had the chance. The personnel were very nice and accommodating. The access to the beach directly from the hotel was super. Overall it was a great experience.
An extraordinary location, a remarkable ingredient of our trip in N-W of Crete. The staff was professional and the host very nice. We had a seaview apartment, the view was breathtaking.
Great people, great facility, excellent service. Highly recommended! Nice beach right across the street. Good food on site and within walking distance.
Everything in the hotel was perfect. Great breakfast, nice pool, friendly staff. Plus the concierge was very helpful in arranging shuttle to the airport.
