St Valéry is such a pretty and interesting place to visit - plenty to keep us occupied for a week, and less than 1hr30mins from Calais. HWell is in the medieval part of town, but it's a very easy walk to anywhere in town, in fact we preferred to walk to the boulangerie in town rather than the two right on the doorstep, so that we could do the lovely circuit into town by road and back along the boardwalk by the estuary. Even though we were there towards the end of the school holidays, it was very quiet first thing in the morning. The house has been renovated to a high standard, with thoughtful use of space (the iron, ironing board and clothes airer are ingeniously hidden!). The beds are the most comfortable ever! Julien is an excellent host, meeting us on arrival, and very responsive to any questions. It was good to have a bathroom both upstairs and downstairs, although we didn't use the bath in the upstairs bathroom. Parking is very easy, with plenty of spaces very close by - you just have to buy a weekly ticket for 40 euros, which you can get from the parking meter just across the road.

    This is a very pretty place, right by the river.

    This is a very pretty place, right by the river. There are numerous restaurants and some lovely little shops. Many of the streets are very attractive, with wonderful buildings and fauna and flora to admire. There is a long promenade for easy walking and a beach and park at one end, suitable for families. I would highly recommend a visit.

    Lovely location, great facilities in tranquil setting. Bar and restaurant good with friendly helpful staff. Pleasant large rooms and comfortable beds. Lots to do, swimming pool, table tennis, tennis, bike hire and walks to the beach. Pleasant well kept gardens and grounds. It’s a disaster if you need WiFi. Almost impossible to log in. Needs to be sorted as everything else is so good.

    A lovely town, with its tree lined promenade above the river, leading to a beachfront bar for sunset drinks; the medieval quarter with its historic church and hilltop abbey; the market square, and central street lined with restaurants and shops; the quayside with its tour boats and the steam railway from Le Crotoy; across the barrage, the promenade to the harbour marker light, giving access to the bay sands at low tide.

    A wonderful historical town, which balances its superb...

    A wonderful historical town, which balances its superb location with all the trappings of a popular tourist destination. With everything from Michelin restaurants to unpretentious bistros, you will eat well here. One of our favourite northern French coastal spots; and with such a wonderful array to choose from, St Valery sur Somme delivers so much, on so many levels.

    We went in November and the town was quiet and relaxing.

    We went in November and the town was quiet and relaxing. The views across the bay were stunning. Enough bars and restaurants open. Wonderful, well signed bike rides in the surrounding area. Fish restaurants abound and we were in dining heaven.

    Superb holiday location with lots to see and do.

    Superb holiday location with lots to see and do. Great restaurants. Really excellent market in the main square. Perfect location for walkers a cyclists. Easy access to surrounding areas and beaches, We particularly like Le Touquet. Great food shops, baker, butcher and fish market. Excellent supermarket with clothes washing and drying machines. Some of the streets are steep for walking. Our third stay in this lovely town.
