FAQs about hotels in Salamanca

An Ancient University Town with Fascinating Culture

In the southwest corner of Castile and Leon, the Spanish city of Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old City is one of the most beautiful Renaissance cities in Europe.

Right next to the Portuguese border, Salamanca has unique architecture including Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Old Cathedral dates from the 12th-13th centuries and is joined together with the 16th-century New Cathedral.

One of the most charming squares in Spain, Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. Take a stroll among the sidewalk cafes, cool off with some ice cream or relax in one of the picturesque restaurants.

Founded by King Alfonso IX in 1218, the University of Salamanca has more than 3,500 international students and teachers. Known for its Spanish courses for non-native speakers, the university houses a huge library with more than 150,000 invaluable volumes.

    Great architecture and friendly atmosphere.

Great architecture and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of bars and restaurants. It would have been very helpful if menus could have been in English for us as many times we didn’t buy because we didn’t know what we were ordering and the translate app wasn’t good enough at times. Made food ordering laborious and way to difficult at times.

Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit. We stayed 3 night and were able to see everything we wanted without rushing. It is a walkable city. We came by train and left by bus. We used the local bus only once, and that was to get to our apartment. We were there during Easter weekend, so reservations are important. Great restaurants and food.

The hotel is perfectly located, just across from some popular shopping streets, about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor. It is an old style hotel that certainly retains its elegance. The staff, the foyer, the rooms all look the part. The rooms were large, clean, stylish and well equipped. When I booked the hotel, I thought that, given the price, there must be a catch. If there is, I missed it. This hotel is one of the best value for money bookings I have come across. When I return to Salamanca, this is the first hotel I will look for.

If arriving by car much easier to reach (from A62/A66) than other hotels located in the center of Salamanca thus avoiding its traffic. Good breakfast, wide selection of items. Very helpful front desk. Convenient underground parking. We arrived early and could park and go off to see the city's attractions and move into our room later. A slick modern hotel right in the centre of Salamanca. Just 5-10 minute walk to the main square and cathedral. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The young guy on reception took time to explain how to get to the best photo spots. We were able to park our motorcycle in the secure basement garage onsite. The inclusive breakfast was the best we've had at an Ibis. We will use this hotel again.
