Upon arrival, it turned out that this is a huge hotel complex, on the territory of which there are different hotels, and this particular one occupies 2 floors of the main building. The complex has several parking lots and several entrances. On the 1st floor there is a beautiful, but confusing labyrinth of passages. I found how to get to the right floor, but did not find the reception. Or rather, I found it, but after about 20 minutes of walking around the hotel. At the reception there was a very nice and friendly Irishman, who was very happy to see me, because I was the last guest who booked a room, but had not yet arrived. He said that there was no need to go out for breakfast, breakfast would be brought right to the door of the room at 7 am. interesting the room turned out to be modern, loft-style. concrete walls, wires in metal pipes, massive switches. It looks very modern and nice. A large window directly opposite the bed, and from the window there is a view of the field and mountains. deer were leisurely walking across the field. and on the visor they said there were 5 kittens in a herd. I tried to take a video so that all the kittens would be in the frame, but then the mother cat came and drove them all home. I open the door at 8 am - there really is a box with breakfast. I didn't expect such a presentation, such a filling and such a tasty and satisfying and healthy breakfast. very cool! The coffee maker in the room came in handy the next day. Coffee with crusan, right from the bed with a view of the mountain, it's simply divine!

We really enjoyed our stay at Gorman's Country Home. The host, Jim, was enjoyable, knowledgeable about the area, and a great cook. The home itself was comfortable and I'm a great location.. I highly recommend staying here if in the area.

The Lily of the Lake

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.

A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.

In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

    Bustling, compact market town full of interesting places to eat and shop, surrounded by truly exceptional scenery. Beautiful park and gardens a very short walk from the centre. Fascinating castle, country house, lakes all a short drive or ride in tourist bus...or horse-drawn carriage. A great place to use as a base to explore Kerry's beautiful scenery by car / bike / service bus. Our visit was in August, a busy tme, so lots of tourists just like us, and thus plenty of shops selling souveniers....but still a good selection of more "usual" shops.

    Plenty of beautiful sights to see. Muckross House and farm a must as it is just so beautiful. Moll's Gap and a stop at Lady's View, great coffee and lemon cake. Torc Waterfall and much, much more.

    The staff were very helpful and cheerful. The broken lift was a nuisance Killarney was a great place to visit . I will probably return again. It is very easy to get around Killarney especially as the hotel was so central. We ate in Reidys and Tango.

    Lovely ride in horse and buggy from Ross Castle much cheaper than Mucross Abbey. Mucross estate was fabulous and we all enjoyed looking at the old farm buildings Great walk to the Torc waterfall. Gleneagle hotel has a great pitch and putt course and tennis courts very reasonably priced.

    I had 4 nights in Killarney and could have stayed a little longer to enjoy more time around town. I hired a bike and went around Killarney National Park ( Muckross House and Abby and Torc waterfall) then did 3 day tours with Deros (very good company no complaints)1. The ring of Kerry 2. Dingle Penisula 3. Gap of Dunloe (absolutely amazing with pony ride in and boat ride out)

    An incredible, beautiful place, full of history and culture. I didn't have enough time to explore the places. Each place has its own charm. I liked the Muckross Abbey restaurant; impeccable service and good food. Very convenient location. I hiked around the park and rented a bike at Killarney bike rental. It was a perfect two days!
