The room was very basic, but we didn't expect too much for the price. The extremely friendly and gracious staff, and delicious breakfast, made up for the somewhat cramped and old fashioned facilities.

Hotel was very conveniently located in the village of Ancient Olympia; we could easily walk to the ancient site, museums, and restaurants/cafes within minutes. We were also able to park on the street next to the hotel. The hotel had a "homey" feeling. There was a nice spread for breakfast, and the hotel staff made some recommendations for restaurants for dinner. Nice breakfast area. Room had a balcony and a view of the church square.
Hotel Ilis is located at the entrance of the town of Ancient Olympia, approximately 656 feet from the center. The museum and the ancient stadium are 1.9 mi away.

I didn’t realise just how important Olympia was, the first Olympic Games happened here, the ancient state of Greece was inaugurated here, some of the greatest sculpture ever made reside here. All set amongst the most beautiful landscape.

Obviously, the main reason to visit Olympia is fror the ancient ruins of the Stadium and surrounding artifacts. It is a full day to see everything. We didn't engage the audio guide, as it was a bit complicated with a pre-set-up and download. But I recommend going into the museum to see the model of the area as it was in use to more fully enjoy and identify the ruins. Walking under the arched tunnel into the stadium made the hair on my arms stand up - such an energy.

Olympia was quite a surprise for me.
Olympia was quite a surprise for me.
Considering its a small town it had all you could need.
The ancient archeological site is a must see for anyone interested in history and the museum is great also and a must see as well.
The town is cosy with everything walking distance and at night its something else with restaurants and bars and shops all lit up and vibrant plus wide tree lined streets that make it a pleasure to walk through.
I can definitely recommend it and maybe a stop over on the way to the Ionian islands.
Ohhh forgot to say that one of the nicest restaurants is Taverna Orestis where i had one of the nicest meals iv had in my 9 weeks in Greece i can highly recommend it.

One night stay is enough for visiting the Archeological Site and the Museums. The small the town has only two major streets, one with shady restaurants and the other with shops. You can fint not only the Olimpia museums but a small museum about Archimedes which is really worth to visit.
It is quite a long time to get to Olimpia from the direction of Corinth, but you can choose the slower route across the hills which hides lovely villages.

Small village which is mainly famous for the museum.
Small village which is mainly famous for the museum. Besides this, there was not much of interest around. Therefore, if you are mainly interested in visiting the museum just plan for one night and be on your way.
Conveniently located in Olympia (although to be fair, Olympia is small and everything is convenient) at a budget price. Hotel Pelops is nothing fancy, but you get the feeling that it has hosted many visitors to the archaeological site over the years, and remains unchanged :) We really appreciated the little map the proprietor drew for us at check-in. Don't miss the Olympic torches in the breakfast room!
Very friendly & lively host who believes it his purpose to serve as town ambassador. You're welcome in the public areas (and theboarking spaces) even long after you've checked out.
The fourth floor "Infinity Suite" is great, with lots of interior space and a massive private rooftop terrace that is larger than that of most hotels.
Location is ideal for walking to the Olympia archaeological site.
Enormous room, plus large balcony with views over Olympia. Hotel also has good sized swimming pool which was most welcome at end of a long hot day of driving. Location is excellent - on hill overlooking the town - away from the town noise but still very short walk (about 5 minutes) into the main street and restaurant area. And good breakfast selection also.
Great place to stay in Olympia. We were a family of 6 and stayed in a spacious apartment with enough room for everyone. The location is quiet, all main attractions are within 10-15 min walk and so are tavernas and coffee shops. Please only bear in mind the hotel is on the hill so coming back from the town is a bit of a steep road.
Such a lovely place near the Olympia Archeological site. The hotel is comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the setting is stunning that beckons you to linger. They have a pool that is welcoming after exploring the the ancient site. The dinner was wonderful and the breakfast met our needs.
Staff welcomed us immediately with warm smiles and were very helpful. We traveled in the off season so the pool was closed, which was a bummer for our kids. Great location. Amazing staff. Easy location to all of the amazing sites in Olympia. Lots of parking.
The location of the hotel, very close to the center of Archaia Olympia and close enough to the museums / archaeological site. The front desk personnel was very helpful. Basic breakfast, but acceptable in the end.
Nice hotel in the magical region of Olympia, ideally located to explore the most sightseeings around
+ decent rooms with beautiful design
+ kind people
+ excellent breakfast
+ good swimming pool
+ parking
Ilias, the host responded our questions quickly about the location, parking, Olympia site and driving routes… it is the best location with very reasonable unbeatable price. We feel happy and blessed.
Location was on a nice quite street, plenty of parking available and close to nearby Restaurants
Friendly host explained the nearby attractions and gave us a map.
Spacious, cheerful, bright with nice balconies and central ac. Close to beach but also had access to nearby hotel’s pool. Fun Olympic
memorabilia in bar.
