Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 450 foot high fountain in the center of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

It is a quite small city that you can walk almost everywhere historical or popular. public transportation is easy to use and you can go almost everywhere with it. there are nice restaurants and galleries to visit and some museums. if you want to get away for a long weekend and spend quite time Geneva is an alternative. Don't forget to visit close towns by the lake both in Geneva and France, they are very enjoyable and view worth travelling for one or two hours.
Definitely bother to climb the stairs of the cathedral, the view is mesmerizing.

Very beautiful city, loved the lake and the stroll in the city center. Botanical gardnen is lovely and so is the mini zoo and sites in Bois de Batie. It is quite expensive and while people are lovely, you can run into those weithers who understand English but refuse to speak it I only read about in the reviews of sites in France.

Carouge is a unique and super nice district! Enjoyed the cafés, the small stores, the artisanal vibe, art where you look.
Great tramways, bus system - easy to get around. Next time by bike.
The city has lots to offer beside jet d’eau - of course the common chains but check out the area around WHO and Red Cross museum.

A nice city, but it feels like a lot could be seen in little time. I stayed for 2 days and it seemed enough.
The lake is nice, and I like the diversity of restaurants there. A lot of rare birds for France, but handfed by the public, which isn't nice. Public transportation is easliy accessible and it was very nice to get a free illimitated pass even to the boat buses (given by most of the hotels)!
There is also a small open air iceskating ring, a lovely park by the lake and virtual reality experience.
We did walk past a man searching for a fight around 8PM (he was obviously drunk and told us to call the cops, and we had just walked past 3 frightening guys, not so far from the center), and we also saw a cyclist inconscious on the pavement by day with a huge injury on the head... Not feeling really safe there ^^;

Geneva is like a condensed version of Manchester: big buildings, great transport infrastructure, and welcoming people. It is extremely expensive though - 3-4x as much as London, which shocked me.
However it is a bit grotty near the train station (where all the best ethnic food is typically), and I didn't feel totally safe. Interestingly, the RLD felt relatively safe because it was so busy with tourists ogling and locals going about their business. You do get approached by prostitutes but they're friendly enough when you say no so it wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable etc.
The parks and gardens are outstanding. I also enjoyed the reptile house near the airport. The coffee and snacks at Boreal are fantastic and they cater for dietary requirements and speak fluent English too, so I spent a lot of time there.
With all this said, Geneva is worthy of a short weekend city break or enjoying a long layover in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there for longer.

Geneva is charming and amazing like whole Switzerland.
Geneva is charming and amazing like whole Switzerland. Public transport is clean and convenient. Restaurants we tried like Mama & Zita, Le Bistro, Cafe du Soleil and Taqueria Los Cuñados etc. are very cozy, they serve excellent food.
Very helpful and caring staff, I arrived early in the morning around 8:30am, they did their best to clean the room and let me have a early check-in at 9:30am.
location is great, you can easily take bus# 10 to reach the downtown area of Geneva within 25m. No need to worry about the converter for power plug as there’s plenty of USB charging plug inside the room.
Free shuttle bus to airport is a huge plus, bus leave the hotel and airport every 20m, no reservation needed.
Great location for getting from airport and taking bus to city centre. The reception on arrival
was splendid, Alan told us how to get to a great restaurant by city bus on arrival. We caught
the bus right outside the apartment and walked half a block to a very popular restaurant for
a great evening. We loved Geneva and especially loved staying at the Apart Hotel. Very well
stocked kitchen and most comfortable beds. Highly recommended.
The room is modern, clean, quiet and relatively spacious as a Geneva hotel out of over ten I have stayed in the past decade. The bed is extremely comfy and the towels are big and plush which I really liked. Great economical option if you need your room for sleeping only - location was okay as it was walkable to most places I needed to go though I usually stay closer to Cornavin - it was a reasonable compromise for the price I paid.
I choose this hotel because its location near Geneva airport but since there is another Ibis hotel near airport it was a bit confusing. So be careful when you make your booking. The nearer Ibis hotel has shuttle mine has not but actually it's very easy to reach the hotel by bus No. 11. I didn't know about it and took taxi instead. After you check in they will give you free transport card valid for your whole stays.
They had excellent email communication before arriving. Photos online were accurate. The location was within walking minutes to the old town. They offered a free transportation pass that allowed you to ride the metro and buses. The eritrean front desk staff woman was phonemomal (nice & helpful). For a single, private room with a bathroom it was a good value in expensive Switzerland.
The hotel is very modern and well furnished. The location is perfect- very close to the train station. The Geneva lake is also just a few minutes away. The breakfast was very good and included dishes and products typical for Switzerland. The staff both at the reception and restaurant were extremely kind and helpful. The room was nice, spacious and spotlessly clean.
Probably the best accommodation option out of ten or more hotels I have ever stayed for what I have paid in Geneva in the past decade. Absolutely happy about the room that is a good size, fully renovated, clean and bright, with a fridge and a microwave and a strong shower and a super comfy bed. Cannot ask for more really.
- very clean and comfortable studios
- Lidl right next to the hotel to easily stock up your fridge
- easily connected to airport and city centre via free bus rides (the hotel will give you a transportation card to use all of geneva public transport for free during your stay)
- very welcoming hotel staff
It was outstanding and way beyond our expectations. Carouge is off central Geneva - in a cosy and neat area with lots of small shops. The hotel
Was in every Point super convenient. It doesn’t have a safe or a mini bar - if you can live with that; check Ibis Style hotel Carouge out!
Geneva Switzerland is not a cheap place. This hotel is centrally located, offers a very inexpensive nice continental breakfast, has nice rooms and all was ok. Just two doors away is a very nice café that had good beer and very cool scene of sophisticated french-speaking locals.
For Geneva this hotel offered the best price and qulity ration to my personal view. The location is quite good. Amazing breakfast for a fair price. Room and bathroom were just super clean and comfortable. The hotel personnel was well disposed and willing to help.
the hotel is super clean, the washing room is spotless, and it’s very easy to get to the city centre with No.5 bus. they gave me a free 3-day pass for Geneva Zona 10, so it covers almost everywhere I wanted to go in Geneva during my trip. 🌸
Loved the location, and the vibe of CitizenM. After an 8-day stay in Switzerland, this was a good bit of respite before departing back home to the US. Friendly welcoming staff, great breakfast, comfy room. Loved the main lobby!
Delightful Hotel in prime location near Lac Leman and old Geneva. Staff on reception the best and most friendly we’ve ever met. Generous sized room with excellent lighting. Numerous bars, cafes and shops immediately adjacent.
Everything was perfect . Clean , aesthetically pleasing .
The restaurant chef and waitress were amazing.
Ate our best meal in Switzerland in the restaurant. Highly recommend it .
The Hotel was very clean and the staff courteous and friendly. It was also very modern from a 1980's style. I had a gorgeous view of lake Geneva. The food was excellent.
Excellent location, few mins walk to the lake and main train station from where one can explore the whole Switzerland. Very clean, easy and smooth check in process.
The location was good. The hotel is close to the main attractions. The hotel is cheap for Geneva. The room was clean enough - not the best, not the worst.
