Helpful staff and comfortable room. Wonderful food in restaurant too!

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
It's one of the 2 hotels we stayed in Iceland. In that area you don't have too many options. But nevertheless the stay turned out to be perfect stay. We arrived a bit early around 15:00; they let us check-in early. Then we did a short hike to glacier behind the hotel. (It's a must if you have time) The room was good; beds were comfy. Breakfast is one of the best we had in Iceland.
This hotel is surrounding by astounding scenery and even has its own secret walking path to view a nearby tongue of Vatnajökull. We grabbed beers at the upstairs bar around sunset after a glacier hike, and it was honestly one of the best beers of my entire life. Had a great conversation with a staff member about the Icelandic language and the breakfast was complete and satisfying.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Skaftafell, it was well located for our road trip out to the Vatnajokull glacier. We found the staff helpful and the room clean and comfortable. The scenery around the hotel was very nice.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and thought the standard was very high. We also enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel.
great location as 6 minutes from the National park. the glacier is right behind the hotel. didn’t take that route as we didn’t have enough time. room is good size and enjoyed it has wooden floors as carpets don’t make sense for Iceland weather. breakfast was typical Scandinavian style. no lox though. would stay again for the location.
The property was clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel was a very short distance from the ice glaciers and we walked for 2 hours to see them up close. We went for dinner at night and food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was really good with a variety of choices.
location is right between skaftafell national park and the jokusarlon lagoon which makes it the best in these parts, just across the hotel there is also a gas station for refuelling. there is also a trail right behind the hotel where you can view the glacier upclose!
Beautiful short trail to Skaftafell Glacier right at its backyard!
Very charming and endearing hotel.
Very clean and thoughtfully organised room and amenities.
Opposite to a restaurant, petrol kiosks and groceries.
Very good breakfast spread.
The breakfast was wonderful! There is a short hike to the glacier right behind the hotel. The front desk staff is excellent and caring! The restaurant for dinner is ok. There is a gas station with food for lunch across the street
Perfect location and views. My absolute favorite trail walk is behind the hotel which takes you straight to Svinafelljokull —a MUST if you are in south Iceland. Plus great restaurant and fresh cuisine (breakfast and dinner) Takk!!
Chose this hotel for location to sites we wanted to visit. Location was perfect. The hotel was well run, well maintained, clean. Staff was most courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. No other meals were taken there.
The location was very convenient and the hiking trail behind the hotel was an unexpected pleasure - really nice walk to a glacier viewpoint. Food at the restaurant was tasty.
The breakfast was amazing. It is also located very close to the glacier. There is a trail
that begins behind the hotel and leads to the glacier. It was a beautiful walk.
