Must try black crust pizza.
Must try black crust pizza. The lookout point at Dyrhólaey panoramic views, don't miss it and of course the Black Sand beach. To visit the crashed US plane, either we can walk for 3 hours (both ways) or take shuttle which will cost ISK3000 per person.

Vik is a picturesque gem tucked along the country's stunning south coast! Reynisfjara Beach is easily accessible, where black sand meets crashing waves with towering basalt columns as the backdrop. The wind can get too strong which makes a part of the beach dangerous (sneaker waves warning), but it is still well worth visiting. The town is charming with cozy cafes (try the black crust pizza!), the locals are warm and welcoming. This town is the perfect location to embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in Iceland's raw beauty.

We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it.
We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it. It is quite a small town, but has a big supermarket (kronan), a really great quality hiking clothes/supplies store, plus a number of cafes and places to eat. We recommend Sudur Vik Restaurant especially.
We did the Katla Track ice cave tour which was amazing and left from Vik!! Also recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides Snowmobile tour - meeting point 25 mins drive from Vik. Black Sand beach is great, as is local open air pool.
We stayed in the Vik hotel which is fabulous, but as we were there for three days, I would have preferred an apartment. The hotel also operates the Vik Apartments (which I hadn't realised before I booked) - they look really good.

We based our family of 5 in Vik to explore the southern coast over 3 nights with our rental car. We found it easier to have one base rather than a different hotel each night.
We visited the Skogafoss Waterfall, Black Sand Beach, YODA caves, gorge hike, Glacier walk at Skaftafell and then onto the Glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach.
We didn’t eat out as it was expensive for what appeared average food so we went to the local supermarket and cooked back at our self catered apartment.
Vik offers lots of adventure based companies who organise tour and expeditions.
The location of the hotel is perfect. You have the famous Black Diamond Beach just a walk away, a petrol station, restaurants and the most beautiful view to wake up to. We got snowed in for two days and the hotel were very accommodating and understanding. We were able to organise to stay in the hotel for another night at the same cost as initially booking. Breakfast was lovely and the room was very nice and clean. The bathroom is wonderful and I had one of the best showers during my stay in Iceland. Overall highly recommended.
Located in the middle of nowhere - still near Vik i Myrdal - the Volcano Hotel is lovely place to be!
The hotel itself is special and charming, the environment is very quaint. The fact that you can enjoy the latter at any place of the hotel - especially during breakfast - is a big plus!
Also the staff was really friendly and welcoming.
In a nutshell: One of the best (and cheapest | out of eight) accommondations we had during our trip in Iceland.
Very well-appointed hotel and rooms in a great location for our plans to visit the south of Iceland. There was plenty of room for privacy but also socializing in lounge, billiard/dart/ping pong room, and small bar. Restaurant was excellent and we were able to grab a great breakfast on the go for an early tour. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Northern light wake up was available although the weather did not cooperate.
This was an extraordinary stylish and beautiful hostel. My daughter and I stayed in a room with 6 bunkbeds. The showers and bathrooms were spotless. There was a small bar and you could purchase coffee and baked goods for breakfast. We didn't cook but they had a great kitchen for those who prefer to carry and make their own meals. The location was excellent on the same road as one of the most famous black sand beaches in Iceland.
this hotel was just outside of town, but still convenient to drive back into town. Location had food and bar available on site. Our favorite thing about this place was the geothermal hot tub! We probably stayed in there for three hours. Breakfast was fantastic as well one of the best we had while in Iceland. Staff was very friendly. Room was very basic value was pretty good.
It was our first night in Iceland and the location was perfect for our planned road trip; the staff was exceptional especially the gentleman who greeted us and prepared our breakfast (I think his name was Constantine) and the room was very cozy and clean. I highly recommend this location for travelers embarking on their own road trip around this beautiful country.
One of our favorite properties we've ever stayed in in Iceland. It's on the 2nd floor and you had to walk up stairs. Amazing views. Quiet, despite being right on the ring road. Walkable to lots of restaurants, shops, etc. Huge space to spread out. We will absolutely stay here again on our next trip.
The accommodation is a "house" as the owner called it, and our room had a private bathroom. It is very nicely located in VIk, especially when you are travelling around Iceland, like we did. It has a free parking outside the building and the room we stayed was quite spacious.
Nice property, good breakfast. Large room. Like other Iceland hotels the room was hot, but we were able to cool it with an open window. A nice place to stay if you want to be near, but not in Vik. Great view of the glacier when the clouds clear.
One of the best host in Iceland. If you traveling to Vik a Must have as a Gesthouse.
We did get a lot of recommadtions and tips for our travel. The Host was super friendly and we Could easyly Talk over everything. 10/10
Nice view but not excactly a "beach" view.
Exellenct location, just a few minutes drive from Vik.
This is the best room we stayed in Iceland!
Well equipped kitchen with all the essential bit like salt and pepper etc.
The room was much better and more spacious than I expected after staying in several other locations in Iceland. We were so pleased with the cleanliness and quality of the room, especially the kitchenette and bathroom.
Fabulous hotel from staff to facilities. One of the best hotels so far we have stayed in Iceland. The room was lovely. We had an amazing view. The pillow, the bed, the shower, breakfast...everything was amazing.
The cottage is very stylish and have all the amenities needed. Its very new and well kept. We loved the village (Vik). I definitly recommend it as the price quality ratio for iceland is very good
Basic but for Iceland affordable
Keep in mind Iceland is very very expensive
This hotel would be 100 a night at home
Set your expectations. Clean, friendly decent and a good breakfast
Great hotel in perfect location in Vik. Great facilities and superb breakfast to get you started in the morning. Would strongly recommend to anyone travelling around Iceland
Perfect location for an overnight stay in Vik. Nice location next to some stores. Dont expect too much, it covers the basics you need on a round trip in Iceland.
