Hotels near Faro Airport - FAO, Faro

Great city, lovely atmosphere, friendly locals. Highly recommend all the ferries to the various beaches - they are stunning. This was our second time in Faro and we loved it again. Recommend a day trip to Olhao to take the ferry to Armona, again stunning beach. Lots of great restaurants - will highlight The Old Tavern. Recommend a day trip to Fuzeta on the train (20 minutes) for grilled fish at one of the restaurants where they cook outside on the grill/barbeque.

Quiet mainly residential area. Beautiful long sandy beaches Long board walks that connect beaches. Great walks and cycling in area A trip to Loulé is a must and Faro old town and beach is easily accessible. Great restaurants all along beach.

I was only in Faro because my son had emergency surgery in hospital but the little I saw of it was mixed. When I got lost (which I tend to do a lot)I found beautiful cobbled streets and people dining outside late at night. . .an't honestly do Faro justice because I didn't see enough...just be careful of the loose cobblestones on all the paths,they have a life of their own

Not child/ family friendly. Outdoor pool freezing. Indoor pool reserved for adults only even though when we booked it had children’s times scheduled. Main reason we booked was for the indoor pool. Very isolated if you don’t have a car. Otherwise everything was as expected in a 5star hotel.

The restaurants in the old city are really good, there's lots of fish and seafood on offer but also good choice of meat dishes. Coffee, wine and beer is a lot cheaper than in UK. Restaurant prices in the old city are a bit cheaper than the Uk but for an equivalent price the quality is better, we did not explore the restaurants outside the main tourist area but there seemed to be a lot of bargain places to eat. The marina area and old city is compact and easy to walk around. Praia de Faro is world class beach although not suitable for children to swim because of currents and a steep fall on beach. The ferry there is reasonable price (4 Euros return). For adults would recommend the free guided walking tour, the"Bone church", boat trip to nature reserve. There is a lot of the city around the marina area needing renovation and a bit run down but that adds to it's charm, it's definitely not a place which feels over run with tourists or designed to take tourist money, it feels relaxed and friendly. We visited last year as well and caught a train to Tavira, so if you're happy to navigate the public transport system or hire a car it opens up the surrounding area.

Perfect accommodation, large terrace, beautiful kitchen with all appliances we needed. Good choice of restaurants in the area. Amazing holiday destination which we will definitely be returning. Only negative point was that there was not a suitcase stand as we do not like to place suitcases on bed when emptying. Beautiful, comfy large bed with large bathroom.
