Travelers who stayed in Faro near Faro Airport (FAO) have said good things about Hotel 3K Faro Aeroporto, Hospedaria Frangaria, and Hotel Sol Algarve by Kavia.
I don't understand why people have recommended this city in travel websites there is literally nothing to see or do here and also the nearest sea side town is Albufeirra which is 30min away by train/car so why not stay by the sea side in Albufeira or Lagos town instead? Sure you can stop here for a 30min visit but its pretty much a very small town.
Faro is a charming small city with a nice center and nice and helpful people everywhere. The buildings are nice but not allvery well kept/ preserved. Lots of terraces and restaurants where you can try different kinds of salted cod (bacalhau) or cataplanas. To be honest, not all of them were great, but they were cheaper compared with restaurants from other countries so...Great selection of sweets and I trully enjoyed every day pastel de nata and in the afternoon ice cream from."Vanilla Faro". We went to the Faro beach by ferry. A round trip is 3 euro and it takes 30 min to get to the beach from the Porta Nova pier near the marina and the Science Museum. The trip to Faro beach is worth a try. I advise to be prepared with some windbreakers and warm clothes . If you go for a swim, than bring some towels to dry after. It gets pretty windy oand chilly at the beach. For a nice view over the city I recommend a climb to the tower of Faro Cathedral- exceedingly ornate, with chapels and a nice garden.Carmo church with its Bone Chapel is worth a visit, too. I loved the fact that every point of interest was at walking distance from the place we stayed(Rua do Alportel). We walked to the Algarve Mall and spend a day there shopping, eating and having fun. We took the train for a one day visit to Lagos. Totally worth it because in this way we discovered our next holiday destination😉... Our stay in Faro was a bit too long - 7 days. I would say that 3-4 days are enough to get to see what this city has to offer. Even so, I had a great and relaxed vacation and I would recommend visiting Faro to anyone. It has good food, a beach, a lagoon with a National Nature Park, places to satisfy the eventual need to get in touch with the history and culture of this part of the world and great inhabitants, always happy to teach you words in Portuguese or things about their culture.
It's a nice town for a short stop. lots of nice places to eat and drink, nice community of residents, very chill and easy to walk around. Not a great deal of tourist spots and beach is fine but not spectacular.
Good choice of eating places and excellent weather in June. Apart from boat trip and cathedral need to go to other larger towns and cities for attractions. Ok for short stay or if you have a car. Rail transport is poor, especially length of queues at the station (no machines, too few staff).
Loved Faro, it had so much more to offer than I realised! Great restaurants, great beaches, relaxed atmosphere, safe, easy to get around, plenty of wildlife and places to discover. Pinsera restaurant was a hidden gem that did great pizzas and sangria. Take an Uber from the airport, it is not much more than the bus and saves time waiting around.
We enjoyed a beer on the harbour side , lots of local good value restaurants. We visited the old town and the chapel of bones. Lots of storks nesting on the building . We had a tour of Faro on the little train, it was good value but you must be prepared for a very bumpy ride as most of the streets are cobbled.
Faro
The staff was extremely friendly and had a ton of great information about what to do in and around Faro. There is also free coffee and other hot drinks available in a side room just off the reception desk. The rooms were very clean, very quiet and we had more than enough space. The kitchen comes equipped with a variety of kitchen ware that allows you to cook your own meals if you wish and the tea selection was excellent. Loved the peaceful view out on the large balcony as well. Will return to this hotel next time we are in Faro.
Excellent breakfast with hot and continental offerings. Complete range of coffee and tea choices, freshly squeezed orange juice and others. The location is in the middle of downtown Faro. Downtown eating and shopping available within a stone's throw. Hotel has two excellent restaurants on site. The roof top lounge area has a great 360 degree view of the city and the water way to the ocean. Airport and train station are 5 to 10 minute taxi ride away. Friendly and efficient staff.
The room was a bit on the small side, but that is to be expected on an airport hotel. The owner allowed us to park our motorcycles around back which was great, and the location is very easy to find if you have a GPS. The backyard is a great place to relax for a bit. I especially enjoyed the possibility of crossing paths with other guests in the shared kitchen, we ended up having a nice chat with another guest in the evening.
Location at Faro beach was the single reason for me to pick this hotel and it was fine enough. A bit worn and outdated, but everything was clean and working fine. Dinner was okay, sangria tasted good. Parking was free right next to the hotel. One of the administrators said that summer brings many thousands of tourists to the strip of beach there as opposed to about 100 now. I cannot imagine the horror.
Faro
I like a lot big common rooms. There is a bar, and many possibilities a play the games. Staff here is very nice and friendly as well. They offer to possibilities a print the ticket for a plane. You may have get as much information You can about Faro and Portugal. You can make new friends here. It is like little Paradise island in Faro.
We had a lovely stay. The place is clean, comfortable and very centrally located, walking distance from bus/train station, eateries, boat that takes you to Faro beach. All very convenient. The staff was friendly and very helpful with our queries. We didn't have breakfast. Would sure come back!
Location. Best Hotel in Faro. Good food and modern. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and very friendly. Roof top bar I had the best Amaretto Sour I have ever had - superb- great way to end a holiday. Only 15 mins from airport. Faro old town 5 mins walk away - a hidden gem.
Praia de Faro, Faro
Astounding view from the room. the staff were frriensly and helpful, including providing recommendations for entertainment in downtown Faro. The room was immaculate and the breakfast was wonderful. Best experience during my entire month long vacation in Portugal.
The concept itself is really cool, we wanted to take an outdoorsy trip to Portugal, but since we were arriving late into Faro, decided to stay somewhere a bit nicer to get a good nights sleep. This was the perfect mix, and made for a really romantic setting.
The staff is friendly and check-in fast. The location is convenient, close to the airport and Faro beach. The room is clean and has everything you need for a short stay. I would not book this hotel for a long stay.
Faro
The hotel was close to the center and it was easy to get to most of Faro's delights. The rooms were simple but clean and comfortable. There are shared patios for guests to enjoy, which was a nice touch.
Very kind and gentle owners. They gave us a warm welcome and many tipps for Faro and Portugal! Super location, very central and a cost and clean accommodation. We can totally recommend :)
Excellent location not just close to the airport, but close to Faro’s beach. Located in a calm and quiet neighborhood, perfect for relaxing.
Hotel was a cheap convenient pit stop close to Faro Airport and I was not expecting to be that clean, efficient and friendly
Private bathroom at one of the lowest possible rates in Faro. Bus no 16 from airport stops right around the corner.
. Kind staff, very accommodating, a comfortable hotel, and in a great Faro location. I'd stay again
Walking distance to best restaurant in the area/faro and the airport.
