Travelers who stayed in Faro near Faro Airport (FAO) have said good things about Hotel 3K Faro Aeroporto, Hospedaria Frangaria, and Hotel Sol Algarve by Kavia.
Faro is a charming small city with a nice center and nice and helpful people everywhere. The buildings are nice but not allvery well kept/ preserved. Lots of terraces and restaurants where you can try different kinds of salted cod (bacalhau) or cataplanas. To be honest, not all of them were great, but they were cheaper compared with restaurants from other countries so...Great selection of sweets and I trully enjoyed every day pastel de nata and in the afternoon ice cream from."Vanilla Faro". We went to the Faro beach by ferry. A round trip is 3 euro and it takes 30 min to get to the beach from the Porta Nova pier near the marina and the Science Museum. The trip to Faro beach is worth a try. I advise to be prepared with some windbreakers and warm clothes . If you go for a swim, than bring some towels to dry after. It gets pretty windy oand chilly at the beach. For a nice view over the city I recommend a climb to the tower of Faro Cathedral- exceedingly ornate, with chapels and a nice garden.Carmo church with its Bone Chapel is worth a visit, too. I loved the fact that every point of interest was at walking distance from the place we stayed(Rua do Alportel). We walked to the Algarve Mall and spend a day there shopping, eating and having fun. We took the train for a one day visit to Lagos. Totally worth it because in this way we discovered our next holiday destination😉... Our stay in Faro was a bit too long - 7 days. I would say that 3-4 days are enough to get to see what this city has to offer. Even so, I had a great and relaxed vacation and I would recommend visiting Faro to anyone. It has good food, a beach, a lagoon with a National Nature Park, places to satisfy the eventual need to get in touch with the history and culture of this part of the world and great inhabitants, always happy to teach you words in Portuguese or things about their culture.
It's a nice town for a short stop. lots of nice places to eat and drink, nice community of residents, very chill and easy to walk around. Not a great deal of tourist spots and beach is fine but not spectacular.
Good choice of eating places and excellent weather in June. Apart from boat trip and cathedral need to go to other larger towns and cities for attractions. Ok for short stay or if you have a car. Rail transport is poor, especially length of queues at the station (no machines, too few staff).
Loved Faro, it had so much more to offer than I realised! Great restaurants, great beaches, relaxed atmosphere, safe, easy to get around, plenty of wildlife and places to discover. Pinsera restaurant was a hidden gem that did great pizzas and sangria. Take an Uber from the airport, it is not much more than the bus and saves time waiting around.
We enjoyed a beer on the harbour side , lots of local good value restaurants. We visited the old town and the chapel of bones. Lots of storks nesting on the building . We had a tour of Faro on the little train, it was good value but you must be prepared for a very bumpy ride as most of the streets are cobbled.
Having stayed at Albufeira it was beautiful. The beach was breathtaking and we should have went to it more! Hotel accomodation was good. Separate rooms from kitchen and living area. Went into the Old Town and was very busy. Nice to see the town at night and visit a few shops. Overall a lovely holiday and relaxing. Until the airport debacle with Easyjet who cancelled our flight with no explanation. We had to find another hotel and book that as well as new flights. Hotel 3k at Faro airport was fabulous. They looked after us so well for the next 2 nights. Just awaiting our taxi to the airport now and hoping that tonight’s flight takes us back to Belfast. Enjoy Portugal it’s a lovely place.
We love everything about the property! Location was central and accessible. Our room was modern and clean. Simply perfect! What we especially appreciate was the impeccable service rendered to us. Here’s a big shoutout to Andrea for her warm, friendly, helpful and professional hospitality given to us throughout our entire stay; it was even better than some 4-5 star hotels that I’ve been to. Thanks for making our stay in Faro so enjoyable, easy and pleasant! We will definitely be coming back to Alameda when we are next in Faro!
We arrived in Faro 7 hours late because of delayed flights and had missed our road transfer to Albufeira. Our plane landed at midnight and we were pretty much stranded in Faro. I jumped onto Booking.com and found this hotel - thankfully they had a room for us at such a late hour and they have 24-hour check in. The place was very clean and comfortable enough for our short stay. Breakfast was simple but very nice and the waiter was running around with such enthusiasm, he made us smile. Well located so close to the airport.
The staff is kind and ready to help, also with their useful suggestions! The bed is incredibly comfortable. The house is efficiently organised. The position is great. You can reach the beach quickly both by car or walking (if you like!). If you decide to move out for exploring the beautiful Portugal you are quickly out of traffic, if you want to spend your time in Faro, it is behind the corner! Perfect place, highly recommended! I hope to go back soon for a longer staying! That was too much short!
The property looks very new. It’s a walking distance to everything. The room is very comfortable and has everything for a short or extended stay. The Wifi is the fastest in all the hotels I have stayed, which is very important for us who work remotely on the trip. We cooked and used the laundry. Communication with the owner was very easy and prompt. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would stay in Faro.
Faro
The hotel is in a great location, right across from the bus station and also right in the center of Faro. The check-in was quick and easy and the staff were efficient and polite. The room was spotlessly clean, the bedding smelled nice and clean also. The mattresses were comfortable so we slept well. Did the job for a cheap night before heading to the airport!
Great little hotel, closest we could find to Faro airport for a stopover before travelling to resort in the morning. Welcoming staff, bar, swimming pool, perfectly clean and fresh-smelling room with a balcony overlooking fields. Small breakfast room - we didn't try it as cost extra, just had coffee at the bar in the morning.
Faro
Tony is the nicest host I've met! Knows a lot about Faro & Portugal in general, and a very interesting person in general. The property is 1 minute walk from the station, and is nearby bus 16 to the airport. We travelled with a baby and Tony arranged a cot for us, and it was all very convenient.
The hotel is a charming place ideally located within the city centre of Faro and near the airport (about 5-10min away by car). We appreciated the kindness of the staff during our stay to help us plan a shuttle to the airport very early in the morning. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable.
Rooms We booked this hotel because it has a 4 star rating after being disappointed in the original booking in Faro Portugal. It is lovely with great, helpful and kind Staff. We were able to get some supper in the snack bar. Also, because it is in a newer part of Faro it had plenty of free parking
The hotel is located in a great location, a short walk away from the marina and the castle. There are nice restaurants around. Close to the hotel there is a bus stop, where you can take a bus to the Faro beach, same bus also stops at the airport. The hotel staff was very nice and helpfull.
Location. Best Hotel in Faro. Good food and modern. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and very friendly. Roof top bar I had the best Amaretto Sour I have ever had - superb- great way to end a holiday. Only 15 mins from airport. Faro old town 5 mins walk away - a hidden gem.
Faro
Location was great and close to the airport which was what we needed for a one night stay before our flights back home. Would have loved to stay even longer, the flat is in a very nice neighbourhood of Montenegro in Faro, it is comfortable and homey
Great hotel very close to airport. Modern, comfortable, good soundproofing. Loved the chicken themed restaurant on site, very nice food. Hotel and restaurant staff are really nice and helpful, 5 stars service :-)
