Many places to choose from to eat on the main strip(Park Street) lots of places to shop and they even have their well know movie theater, if you want to go relax watch a movie and have freshly made popcorn! Head to the end of Park street and you will hit the beach walk way, to catch a breath of fresh bay air. Great to relax, listen the the crashing waves, and catch a bit of sun. Great place for the whole family to spend the day.
Convenient to Alameda/SF ferry. Traffic was very congested. Getting around was not very enjoyable. Good ice cream at Loards on South Shore. Webster Street has next to nothing. Love the Victorian homes. Very long way from the airport.
Small, friendly city with all facilities needed easily available and easy parking. Access to San Francisco across the Bay Bridge can take quite a while due to the sheer volume of traffic. Ferry service to San Francisco is quick and public transport is easily accessible dockside.
It has some historical style of housing. Near Marina, nice view and walk along the path. Alameda is a pretty city, not so crowded. We got a chance to enjoy the other side of Alameda, left on Island Drive. It has a nice neighborhood. It has a just remodeled Chiinese restaurant . It's located near the Marina, nice view and food is good.
Some wonderful shopping...locally owned toy, book and clothing boutiques offering items not generally available in the large department stores...some great antique shops as well. Downtown Alameda is easily navigated and features unexpected diversions such as outdoor ice skating in the winter months.
I wish I had more time in Alameda. I was there for two days and had to drive back to Los Angeles around 4pm. The area is very peaceful and a nice getaway. I would come back again only if I see a deal. If there is no deal I would go find another place. I think what I paid was a decent price. The room could use a little remodeling but over all Alameda is beautiful.
