The Graduate Berkeley is located just 1 block from the University of California Berkeley. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property. We were moving my daughter out of university housing. It was so restful and comforting to come here after a long, grueling moving day. We also came in Sunday night from a Friendsgiving at my son’s house in Oakland, and we had a plate of pie, but no forks. The front desk happily got us some. The next night we had a bottle of wine and some waters, but no glasses. Again, same front desk staffer got us beautiful glasses to take up to the room. Our whole experience helped us get through what would otherwise have been a fairly miserable one. Thank you!

Beautiful city with dirty streets. Compared to Boston or Cambridge, the city is clearly not doing enough to address unhoused people, especially those suffering mental illness. Their presence is apparent on sidewalks throughout the city. So too is trash, discarded papers, garbage and generally disorder that could at least be ameliorated with decent temporary housing, daily expanded sidewalk cleaning and leasing of dozens of boarded up businesses (even temporarily to artists, etc).
Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley. Went there for our son's graduation and had a few days to walk around. We visited the campus, my husband and son went running and we had a nice dinner at Chez Panisse Bistrot (had to make the reservation THE day they opened up the reservations on-line) to celebrate. Lots of food options near the hotel, getting around Berkeley is easy. It was fun seeing the graduates.
It is a busy hub for people traveling to Berkeley . students needing housing, visiting staff or families needing a place to stay. Will need a car or a care sharing to get around. Transport to Bart, campus, etc. There are many eateries in the area, Coffee shops and shops within walking distance.
I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views. The food options are endless and the casual shopping is so much fun. There is so much to see in the town and on Cal campus. The surrounding areas offer a variety of activities and vistas.
The location is great & in the current labor shortages the landlady is courteous and helpful. But you have to ask for room service and there's no microwave to warm your food. There's a coffee maker which works as a water heater to make your ready to eat stuff or to prep your coffee or tea
With few exceptions, Berkeley has become a third world country. Many of the roads are in disrepair, there is a LOT of homelessness, trash is piled up everywhere and it has a feel of hopelessness. It can be extremely difficult to travel around the city with lots of traffic and little parking. People are very aggressive towards one another. It is a very expensive city.
Nice room , comfortable bed, with great linens , room recently refurbished .Some thought has been given in the room design to provide good closet/ storage space, plus having a microwave and tea kettle and plates and cutlery , and chairs and a table on the balcony balcony (plus Safeway next door) made it easy to do some minor self-catering. Very handy location, lots of tasty food and street safer for walking than the area where most hotels in Berkeley are located.
Berkeley
I really liked this motel, although the word motel doesn't really do it justice. The rooms were bright, spotlessly clean, well equipped and furnished and had all the facilities I would expect to find in the room of a four star hotel. The franchise owners clearly take pride in their establishment. I would readily stay again if I were to be in the area.
Amazing boutiquey historical place, a home in Berkeley! Loved it all, wallpapers in the ceiling included. And the Tartine breakfasts, the dinners at Henry’s with excellent staff! Would recommend it as THE place to stay in Berkeley
Good location close to BART station and some good restaurants and only 15 minute walk to downtown (Shattuck) and 25 to UC Berkeley. Free parking, good wifi, pleasant and helpful staff, clean and comfortable and not noisy.
The hotel space accommodated visiting with family at the pool, in the lobby, in the restaurant… The staff couldn’t have been more professional or accommodating. Just a wonderful experience. We’ll b back!!
Hotel is super clean and is upscale for the area. Had a nice bar downstairs and some security, which was comforting. Staff up front was decently friendly.
Everything about it. It’s not some super fat hotel. The hotel represents Berkeley. The room and whole design is amazing. Best best western I’ve stayed at.
Location of the hotel, cleanliness and space. It is pet friendly too. Staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were nice, I didn’t want to leave.
Enjoyed staying in this historic building and appreciated its convenient location near campus. Great indoor pool and bocce court in the back.
I have stayed here before and enjoy this hotel.
The area is really calm and perfect to rest.
