The people are amazing.
The people are amazing. They are all friendly and acomodating, and almost everyone speaks great english. The food is delicious! We went to several restaurants and all the food is great. Butrint national park is a must see. Although I highly recommend going there early (before 10 AM) to get a parking spot. Otherwise you will park 1 km-2km away and walk in the sun. The infrastructure is horrible. There are too many hotels and the roads are narrow and there are no or very little sidewalks. It is dangerous to walk around with small children because in august it was filled with cars that were driving too fast on those roads. Too many accommodations, beaches are not very big and too organized ( decks, lounges, water attractions, bars), which is basically OK, but in the end there is no space left. Ksamil in April is quiet with an unfinished, laid back vibe.
Ksamil in April is quiet with an unfinished, laid back vibe. The locals could not have been more welcoming or friendly. We traveled with a 5 and 6 year old and they were welcomed everywhere. We did lots of tours and had plenty of beach time. We had a super 4 days. The beaches are pretty, water is super clear, cool in April. Mr Crabs, Koko and Memaj Bakery all serve delicious food. Definitely spend a couple of hours at Butrint if you like forests or ruins. Day trip to Corfu from Ksamil/Saranda is also super easy and enjoyable. We spent the morning at the Blue Eye. €5 in, we parked at the little church just off the main road. We hiked to the Blue Eye in around 20 mins, stopping to listen to the frogs, pet the stray cats and take pictures. We continued on past the Blue Eye (so cool) and hiked the rest of the way around the lake. It took another hour, following the obvious, steep in parts, trail all the way back to the main entrance. 1.5 hours total. Visiting Ksamil in the off season is one of the best experiences I have had. The beaches were not too busy and the service was good at most restaurants. There are many charming beaches around Ksamil.
There are many charming beaches around Ksamil. It is convenient to move around the city on foot. A wide selection of hotels and restaurants. In the off-season few tourists but many shops or restaurants do not work. We travel in the off-season and with the dog. Most hotels and restaurants are pet-friendly. We had a great holiday however, there is not many activities and the beaches are all Private you have to hire a sun bed I think this is the biggest negative the sea is beautiful. The food is lovely look around and you will get a good deal drinks are not as cheap as you may expect. Book day excursion And get a bus from Sarande port (30 mins 1 euro) cheaper then taxi but last bus maybe 6pm. Take sterling and change when there to Leke will also need some Euro. If planning on going lomg weekend maybe enough and be prepared to pay for sun beds.Guest review byAnonymous
