Mudgee is a beautiful country town especially in Autumn with all the trees changing colour. It has loads of cafe's, & eatery's The best pub is Lawson's near the clock tower. Loads of winery's to go tasting. Great place to stay for the weekend.
Always enjoy visiting Mudgee for a short break. We try and go mid week to avoid the crowds at the wineries as our favorite part of the tastings is having time to chat to the friendly locals. Also some great places to eat.
Mudgee is a beautiful town to explore, friendly locals with the added bonus of wonderful vineyards minutes out of time. One highlight was a warm welcoming Irish stew at the Irish Pub on the very wet and cold evening of our arrival!
Great food, friendly people. Must eats include the salt and pepper squid at Club Mudgee and the Beef and Guiness pie at the Irish Pub. High Valley cheese is worth tasting. Mudgee Information Centre gave us brochures that were 7 years out of date. Ryalstone was mostly closed during the school holidays. Gulgong museum is worth a visit.
had a lovely stay in Mudgee - lots to see and do (and so many wineries). Lovely old churches and beautiful rolling hills. Went out for a special dinner at Isabellas - unfortunately a limited menu and a 2 hour wait for our meal - food was ok, but pasta not worth the $34 price tag. Had another dinner at the Oriental Hotel - great meal and though there was a wait of around 1/2 hr for our meals, the place was packed (and quick to get a drink) Had some amazing little desserts from Mudgee Cake and Dessert Co - delish !! Fave winery was 791 Estate with Fiona the Owner - lovely wines, wonderful nibble platter and amazing hosts. Looking to make this a yearly trip and stay again at the Avoca Cottage
Our Mudgee trip has been great. Loved every winery we visited. ( 6 all up) loved the people and the properties. We have eaten out for breakfast and dinner every day and every cafe & restaurant were wonderful. Great shopping, from boutique to everyday. Very relaxing place to visit.
Delightful small 1 bedroom cabins, studio like. Very clean and well laid out but with plenty of room. Bed was comfy, and amenities were OK in the kitchen if you want to self cater, but not cook. Large lounge, good for relaxing. The bathroom was clean and shower area adequate, but could have done with some more hooks - no where to hang towels. A small verandah with a BBQ, and pleasant sitting area where we ate our meals.
Location, bed comfort and price were great. Unfortunately, and not the fault of the pub, there were a group of women celebrating some form of hens or something who sat directly outside our room on the verandah until 430am with 1990s music and carrying on like teenagers. Had probably 2 hrs sleep all night. As said prob not the hotels fault. Also air con didn’t work. But value for money 5 stars out of 5
Mudgee
Great location, property was located on 32 acres yet close to town. Peaceful & private. Cottage was exceptionally clean. Hosts were friendly & helpful with info about Mudgee , surrounds & tips on what to see & do.The little extras like chocolates, port, binoculars , picnic basket were thoughtful touches. Indoor fire was great too given our visit was during winter.
Mudgee
Just stayed at the Haratio motel in Mudgee. It was extremely clean and comfortable. I was a little worried about noise, it being close to the main road, but it was not an issue at all. We have stayed in many Mudgee hotels over the years and I think this one is certainly on the top of the list.
Mudgee
If you are looking for a caravan park on the outskirts of the city then this is the place for you. Staff were friendly. Mudgee is a really great place to visit, good wineries and extremely friendly people and staff everywhere. The heated blankets were a nice touch.
Mudgee
We were there for a cycling event, the Mudgee Classic, and we were metres from the start line! Easy access to groceries, restaurants..... Very central! Helpful staff, adequate facilities for a budget hotel.
Cute room, all of the amenities one would expect. Given the history of this hotel dont expect a lift or level floors - is called vintage for a reason. Great location easy walk to the main high street.
Mudgee
The perfect location for a group of friends to catch up, walk to the markets and to dinner. It was large enough to accommodate us all and both the front and back verandahs are great gathering spaces.
The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to cafes and shops and easy drive to vineyards. The staff are really friendly and the pub serves delicious food.
Beautiful older boutique style hotel with new, clean, modern bathrooms. Rooms are a little smaller but comfortable with a couch and space to spread out.
