Quarterdeck is set in Portsea. The air-conditioned accommodations is 984 feet from Shelley Beach, and guests benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The location and the area was lovely and peaceful. Couldn't have asked for better, close to everything but with a feeling of being in the bush with the sounds of birds and privacy. Loved the windows around the property which enabled you to take in the great views and gardens. Property had everything you need with plenty of storage and the home felt really cosy. Perfect as a holiday stay.
the walking tracks in and around the portsea area accessible and well posted leading to some spectacular ocean scenery. also eateries,wineries/brewhouses within easy distance. a vast array of golf courses on offer.
The wild coastal walks one side, and calm swimming beaches inside the bay (weather dependent of course). The amazing history (especially the quarantine station, and Cheviot Beach where Harold Holt disappeared) and stunning homes. Millionaires Walk a must, as is a dolphin swim. Revamped Portsea pub fabulous. The new Portsea lifesaving club is a credit to the community - huge building but well hidden in the landscape. And wow, those waves - what a seascape. Worth spending at least a few days at the Portsea Golf Club (Mercure) to explore.
Nice break from Melbourne routine ... stay the night and have relaxing walk and coffee in the morning ... or gaze at the stars in a clear night away from city lights .... it's whole lot different when you do not have to drive there and back in a day ...
Portsea and Sorrento are prime holiday destinations and feature wild, coastal views, historical places and great shopping, dining and sporting activities, such as s plethora of world-class golf courses. There’s more than one for every day of the week here. It doesn’t matter what the weather is like to capture the glory of this area. It’s also a prime wedding and honeymoon destination with romantic backdrops to capture forever moments of your life. Midweek breaks are ideal as accommodation is cheaper and the tourist crowds are smaller.
Didn't know what to expect but exceeded expectations. Pretty village and gorgeous expensive mansions! We ate at the Portsea Hotel (recently refurbished unknown to us). Reminded us of a Cape Cod style place with plenty of seating and fabulous views. We felt lucky to have stumbled upon this as from the front it looked like it could have been a stuffy old fashioned Hotel! Good selection of food - possibly a wee bit pricey but worth it for the atmosphere alone. Have a walk to London Bridge rock formations just up the road, then walk the track down to the beach - easy walk. Majestic cliffs Explore nearby Sorrento with gorgeous boutique shopping and lovely restaurants and cafes....
The millionaire’s walk is fun and has some amazing landscape view points of the bay. Take a picnic and continue onto the beach at the end! AMAZING markets!!! Portsea pub is the place to be on any other day.
Gorgeous building, clean and fresh rooms complemented by warm and friendly service. Loved the fireplace in the bar - the perfect setting for a glass of whisky.
