This was in a good location for us, and was a very good value. For the cost, we had fairly low expectations, but found the rooms recently renovated, clean, and comfortable. There is both a bar and restaurant on site (however, restaurant seemed to close very early, so we did not eat there). Sheets and towels were furnished, and the bathroom and shower room were clean and conveniently located, with good hot water. Each room had a small refrigerator, a sink, and a hot water pot. Don't miss the Museum a block away from the Hotel.

9 people from Singapore stayed two nights. 24 Sep 23 and 26 Sep 23. We were very impressed. The bed is comfortable and warm. The rooms are also cosy and warm. Mountain view is good, fantastic. Price is very reasonable. No problem with virtual check-in. Just call the number provided and you will be given number to access the box to collect the unit keys. Happened to meet the host, Henry who is very friendly and generous. Didn't charge us when we mistakenly opened a bottle of wine. Refused to charge though we offered to pay. Thank you.

Queenstown being so historically significant from a Mining perspective has a lot to offer the Tourist and Traveller. It is wonderful to Walk around the Town and Drive in and around the Town. If you are interested in Queenstown’s Mining History there is just so much to see and do and take in. Queenstown is a definite MUST DO and MUST SEE if you are travelling around Tasmania.

Queenstown has so much history as a mining town but also as the gateway to an environmental paradise. Because it is small and clustered around the railway station it is easy to walk around. There are some lovely old buildings and some excellent new ones. I thoroughly recommend the museum and cafe on the railway platform. Loved the Eggs Benny for breakfast.

We loved Queenstown, it's truly a hidden gem!

We loved Queenstown, it's truly a hidden gem! The people are so friendly, we had such wholesome conversations with many of the locals - this is truly one of the highlights of our trip. There is so much history documented about this place, the Galley museum was wonderful to explore and learn about before taking the Wilderness Railway the next day. The places to eat here are so good, the Gold Rush Inn had amazing food, as did the Moonscape Bar (you have to try the Sicilian Meatballs of they're on the menu!!) The scenery is surreal, being surrounded by the mountains, especially with the low hanging clouds and fog is an incredible experience. As an artist, it was so wonderful to see such a beautiful art community here, with resident artists and artwork on display in the lovely 'Soggy Brolly' - so many art murals to see too! Devastated we will miss out on their Arts event "Unconformity" this year, but will try and make it in two years time. Queenstown will definitely be the highlight of our trip, people need to venture the West Coast more often! We will be coming back here as soon as we're able. Do yourself a favour and stay in Queenstown asap!!

A very tired motel that has seen better days.

A very tired motel that has seen better days. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet but the town is just about dead. There is a lot of paint work that could happen around the units which would make it look a lot better and a new table that was strong would be great. I understand that the town is certainly not very busy these days and putting a lot of money into a hotel would probably not be wise, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I would go onto Strawn and stay in a nicer place.

I loved Queenstown.

I loved Queenstown. Amazing scenery and walks, stunning physical beauty. Well worth seeing and doing Nelson Falls, Horsetail Falls and The Iron Blow Lookout plus longer walks we didn't have time for. Catch a movie at the Paragon Theatre, look but don't stay at The Empire Hotel. We didn't visit, or hear of any interesting museums.

1st time in Tasmania and couldn't get 2 nights in Strahan for the river cruise so booked our first night here, what a mistake. We should have stayed here a week and explored the surrounding areas. The room was brilliant with cooking facilities etc. We prefer to cater for ourselves at least half the time and make lunches to save a bit of money. The attached restaurant was good and the staff super friendly and helpful. We are planning to return to Tasmania to explore it in more depth and will definitely be booking accommodation here again.

I stayed at the Empire Hotel in Queenstown for three nights and found it to be a place of contrasts. From the outside, the building is absolutely stunning—especially at night when it's lit up, giving it a grand and inviting presence. The interior carries a strong sense of history, with rustic charm that speaks to a different era. My room was spacious, warm, and very cosy, which made my stay comfortable, and check-in went smoothly without any issues.

Ralph was the perfect host, with loads of information, cheerful and anxious to please. The hotel of course is of a bygone era, but good luck to entrepreneurs like Ralph & co. to bring it back to life.
