Set on one of the highest hills in the district, this gorgeous, comfortable cottage has expansive country views but is also an easy drive to some of the nicest little towns in the South Burnett region. One of the highlights was relaxing in the spa while watching the sunset and seeing the lightning flashes from a distant storm. We also loved the privacy and beautiful gardens which had an abundance of birds and wildlife. The hosts went out of their way to be helpful.

It is a pity the town doesn't have a lot going for it.

It is a pity the town doesn't have a lot going for it. We were there for the garden expo at the showgrounds. Have they thought about a country music festival or some theme associated with timber. Its a shame there is NO bakery come coffee shop.

A lovely little country town.

A lovely little country town. The Wondai Visitor Information Centre & Timber Museum was very interesting and well worth the visit. The Trader/Antique shop was an eyeopener! A nice drive to Murgon and after staying one night back in Wondai continuing on to Hivesville, Proston, out to the Boondooma Dam then back to Proston, Durong and home to Brisbane.

Cute little country town with friendly locals.

Cute little country town with friendly locals. Some lovely cafes in town, reasonable prices yum food. The RSL was recommended for dinner. Food was simple, They ran out of some items and steak was pretty tough. But I think they were just new people on the takeover of the food area. Plus it was a busy full house. With over 40 people from the showgrounds down at the RSL as well as locals and a band

2 musems are a must see. Wood craft museum (opened 2001) and a general mueum that has heaps on display including preserved old operating theatre from Wondai hospital. This museum has been improving since first being opened 40 years ago. FOOD - must sample battered flathead and garlic prawns at the Wondai hotel .... yum !

The town itself is only pretty small and I came from the Sunshine Coast for a garden show here. The main thing I didn't like is the takeaway shops shut before 6 at night, so luckily I had seen this not long beforehand. Dan's Diner was good for breakfast and was only just up the road from my accomadation. The garden show itself was really good and would come back next year for sure.
