All the people are very friendly! It’s nice they take American money here too. Just way to expensive for my wallet haha. Most bars add a service charge for a tip and do not tell you so be careful or you will be tipping double. We found a hole in the wall bar called ‘ Cafe de Pijp’ run by holland men. All the prices are honest! No service charges And they make great drinks.
Orangestad is an interesting community. Lots available for those interested in the tourist experience - jeep tours, fishing, sailing, beach, snorkling, shopping. For those interested more in the 'real' Aruba, one has to get away from the cruise ship terminal and the beach environment - the island is very dry desert environment. There certainly appears to be plenty for those who want to see more. Interesting history as well!n Also a very clean community and we always felt safe walking about.
Central to everything on the island. Easiness to get around by walking, driving, or taxi. Friendly and tranquil atmosphere. The weather was perfect. We had a guided tour of the island by a local, which was awesome! The Renaissance island with the Flamingo was incredible! I was disappointed however by the diving submarine tour on the Atlantis as there wasn’t much to see and the very few colorful marine life seen were not well captured by pictures. It looked cloudy. Dancing at South Beach was awesome! Mumba club is by the ocean...good for young adults. The food is delectable! We at at Lola’s, Driftwood, Zeerover for dinner. Best breakfast at Dutch Pancakehouse! We had a tuna wrap with fries at a Cafe near the Pancakehouse, which was to die for.
Oranjestad is a small, but bustling town. If you're into food from Latin America, there are Colombian, Cuban, and Venezuelan restaurants. There are also popular U.S. chains like, Dunkin Donuts, Pizza Hut, a Hard Rock cafe as well as others. There are some small beaches that are in Oranjestad, but the bigger beaches are not far if you can have transportation. The bus system not only serves Oranjestad but also most of the island, and is clean, safe, and drivers were friendly and helpful.
Nice city. Scenic surroundings and nice beaches. Many shops and restaurants. On the down side it's hard to find a good restaurant and all the restaurants are quite pricey. A single meal typically exceeds $23 USD, for lunch or dinner. North Palm Beach has many water sports including diving , windsurfing, etc.
Oranjestad is great for a short getaway, but it's neither dynamic enough for the city explorer nor has enough options for the adventure traveller. Now, for a 4+ days stay in Aruba, you'd be better off (even if you're travelling on a budget, like myself) to stay in the hotel area rather than downtown or further north. There are more and better value-for-money restaurants there (though everything is more expensive on this island). The only exception is if you happen to be in one of the resorts (e.g. Renaissance) on the beach in Downtown Oranjestad. Their pancake place is interesting, though not all that it is hyped up to be. The most local Aruban cuisine is in fact in Noord (e.g. Madame Janette's) Hotel pickups for attractions and tours don't always include central oranjestad. Doesn't feel like the safest place to walk around at night, if you go 1 or 2 avenues inland. There are some (presumably) homeless people that may accost you.

The property was just a short walk to the downtown center and the hotel was quite. I didn’t realize they were near booked at the time. As a solo traveler the location and price was perfect and the owners are lovely. I can’t say enough about them. Rental car on site if available is a must as driving around is very easy. Also be sure to have Stanley pick you up at the airport. Super easy with no waiting around for a cab. I’ll be back again and again.

I loved staying on this boat, watching an amazing sunset before being berthed to sleep by the boat’s gentle movements. Getting to sleep with the stars visible through a big hatch above the bed. That’s really unique and much more appealing than going to a nondescript hotel like you can find anywhere. I also loved the kindness of JoAnn who did everything to make me feel at home and her breakfasts, hearty and her home made jam, hummmm.

We booked to Monastery suites but they informed us a few days before our arrival that it is not yet opepned and they offered us the three of their other hotels to stay, same price plus breakfast upgrade plus airport pick up. We chose Perle D'or hotel which was very good, with a nice pool and bar. So we really appreciate the support in the hotel change and the upgrades.

We stayed at Pista Q for 19 days and right from the beginning we found each other. Rosella and Subjey were very friendly. Its located in one of the coolest areas of Oranjestad with amazing restaurants and a short walk to the beach. This hotel has an excellent location... right in the city of Oranjestad. You can walk to various shops and stores on the Main Street. You are never really out of WiFi because the Main Street has WiFi as well as the hotel. The rooms are clean and can be cleaned on request if needed. Overall a excellent economical choice.

Everything was good! The staff, Sean, was so accommodative and gave us some tips for our trip! He texted me about 2 weeks prior to the trip and greeted us when we reached the hotel. On our last day, we left something in the wardrobe and he rushed to the airport with the item to returned it back to us!
