Charming and helpful reception staff. Exceptional advice on exploring Ghent from Mary who went out of her way to suggest the best itineraries by day and night, hidden gems to seek out, places to stop for refreshment and even her favourite shop for chocolates! Her enthusiasm was infectious. In a good location near the river.

Great hotel in the city center of Ghent. Only a couple of minutes away from the old main square. There is also a big parking garage close by. The hotel rooms are spacious with a rather big bathroom with a rain shower. The beds are very comfortable and big. Breakfast was okay and you can make your own waffles.

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is not only a city of history, but also a romantic place
to visit. The city is full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.
The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent (known as Gent in Flemish).
Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the 'noses'.
Antwerp International Airport is 52 km away, while Brussels Airport is 55 km. Just book your hotel, guest house, apartment, or B&B through Booking.com and discover everything this stunning city has to offer.
We have family in Ghent, so go there often. It is lovely city, one of the great medieval centres, and less well known than Bruges. Has some spectacular buildings and art works. Museums are OK but not brilliant. Travel is easier now that tram system repairs are complete and I would advise getting the De Lijn app to pay for tram and bus journeys . Very walkable so bring comfortable shoes. Food is varied and good.

Lovely city. Beautiful architecture round every corner.
Lovely city. Beautiful architecture round every corner. Very friendly people. Hop on hop off boat trip is very informative and great value. Cafe at Vooruit was good. MSK art museum very interesting but several galleries were closed. Watch out if you want to visit St Bavo’s Abbey ruins as opening times are limited. And beware the no 1 tram doesn’t go where the city maps and guide books show.

The town was lovely with a great tram service, art museums and still not too busy. Easy to walk around safely and enjoy the city. My favourite was the museum of modern art which is close to the train station and the lovely park too.
I went to a few different places-great supermarkets for a healthy lunch and a lot of choice of restaurants at different costs
You can get the tram from the station which drops you in the centre Kotour

We stayed one night, and were able to see a lot and check a lot of things off the list. However, we feel staying 2 nights would have been better for not being so rushed. There is a LOT to see and explore.

Very beautiful, lots to do.
Very beautiful, lots to do. A bit crowded on a Saturday, so consider visiting during the week if you're able. I stayed about 2 days, and could certainly have done 3, maybe 4.
Must do: try cuberdons (a purple sweet) and waterzooi (a hearty chicken or fish stew). See St Bavo's cathedral and the Ghent altarpiece. Foreigners must also try Flemish and Belgian specialties (stoverij/stoofvlees, Belgian beers and chocolates, friet, etc).
Additional highlights: the fine art museum (MSK), the Belfry, all the other churches, e.g. St Niklaaskerk and St Jacobskerk (which also had thought-provoking modern art when I visited). The Gravensteen (sometimes called "Castle of the Counts") was interesting, if you can tolerate the goofy audioguide. On Sunday, there are outdoor markets for flowers and antiques before noon, at which point the markets close and the rest of the city wakes up. On Saturday, there was a live public performance on the bells of the Belfry.
I didn't get a chance to visit the modern art museum (SMAK), or any of the many antique shops (I had heard good things about one called Wunderkammer).
I also found the public transport to be outstanding for such a small city. Trams are frequent enough (especially where lines overlap), and paying is easy: just tap your contactless card on the white card readers.

Ghent is one of the most beautiful places we've visited.
Ghent is one of the most beautiful places we've visited. Its charm and quaintness cant begin to describe it enough. People are friendly and helpful. Just sitting by the river is an unforgetable experience. Every corner you take is more beautiful than the other. Ghent is a very walkable city. A boat trip is also a must.
Cindy is a fantastic host - so friendly and helpful. The property is a real gem - beautifully restored and every single detail well thought through. Breakfasts were amazing with far more than we could eat and a great selection of everything from eggs to bread, home made jams, fruit and even cake! The location was perfect - quiet and off the beaten track with parking but only a 20 minute bus ride into Ghent from the end of the road or a 30 minute walk. And the sauna was a real bonus.
This is a great budget hotel. The rooms are small, clean and well thought out. You probably won't want to spend much time in them though - but that's okay if you're here to sightsee. The lobby has lots of seating, a bar, outdoor seating/dining and has a warm friendly vibe.
The breakfast was good with plenty of options. From the hotel it's a short ten minute walk into the centre of Ghent.
The host was very friendly, efficient and accommodating and so was the lady that received us. The place was well equipped, comfortable and super clean. Security was good. We will most definitely recommend to others and also stay there again if we go to Belgium again. Thank you for allowing us to use your lovely accommodation.
Great Location, good breakfast with gluten-free options and lactose-free options, clean place, friendly staff, quiet room. Great view of Ghent cathedral from our room, during our stay there were roadworks, just outside the hotel, but we did not get bothered by the noise.
