The Uplifting Power of Nature

Jasper sits in a green valley within a national park surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. Water in its various forms has shaped the dramatic scenery and continues to create serene landscapes.

Tree-lined Lake Beauvert is the closest to town, but Pyramid and Patricia lakes are more famous thanks to the rugged peaks perfectly reflected in their still waters. Arguably the best of all is Maligne Lake whose incredible water colour is eclipsed by small, pine-lined Spirit Island. You may not know the name, but you’ll probably recognise the view.

Many glaciers come off the huge Columbia Icefield, roughly midway between Jasper and Lake Louise. Some have cut canyons where you can go ice walking. Other winter sports include ice skating and skiing at the Marmot Basin resort, named after local animals.

Bears inhabit the surrounding forests and more wildlife lives at The Den at Whistler Inn, just one Jasper accommodation option on Booking.com alongside mountain lodges and pet-friendly hotels with pools.

The Jasper Tramway – Canada’s highest cable car – goes to the top of The Whistlers mountain, and on the slopes of another are the Miette Hot Springs open-air pool.  The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum details the area’s history, and traditional Haida styles and colours are celebrated in the modern Two Brothers Totem Pole

Jasper is perfectly located in the Canadian Rockies.

Jasper is perfectly located in the Canadian Rockies. The town is surrounded by mountains so views are spectacular in every direction. The town has a quaint European mountain vibe mixed with a western esthetic. The food situation is a mix of cuisine types with a variety of different styles. Prices tend to be mid range to expensive. There are three food stores so you can purchase whatever you need if you have facilities to prepare your own meals. Though the town is still recovering from a wild fire, it is getting better as rebuilding is continuing.

We visited a number of places around Jasper and in the town.

We visited a number of places around Jasper and in the town. Despite the fire damage from 2024, there’s still lots to see and appreciate. We ate at the Inn in our suite and at the restaurant. A supermarket is close by for provisions if you are on a budget. Maligne Lake was a highlight, but overall Jasper is a great place to visit.

We were there only one nite, unfortunately. We really enjoyed dinner @ the Mad Grizzly & the Raven Bistro looked really yummy, but they were booked. Both on the 600 block of Patricia St. Reviews looked positive on both places. Lots of interesting looking shops on Patricia & Conaught Sts. Jasper has a cool vibe with a lot of beautiful flowers displayed in large planters & hanging baskets. Very clean.

Nice place, lots of things to see.

Nice place, lots of things to see. But, compared to Banff and the parks to the south, or west, of Jasper - not much added value. The big fire of 2024 left its marks, and the scenery is pretty gloom in much of the area. The good thing about Jasper is that it's a tourist hub and so there are many activities and activity providers, but you can do all of these activities in other touristic places such as Banff or BC, so if you're extending your trip by a couple of hours drive, and a couple of days stay, to Jasper (like we did) - in retrospect, we could've spared those days and hours on the road and not miss much.

enjoyed the views and places one can visit throughout the surrounding areas, the waters in lakes are a beautiful color and worth going to check out would like to stay in Jasper for longer periods but when the tourism industry lets the hotels/and motels charge over double and even triple the price for the 3 to 4 months during the summer compared to rest of the season/year is a total almost criminal act against normal folks

Jasper is doing well to recover from their 2024-25 fire. The fire zones are still noticeable, however, there are plenty of nice unaffected places, and the newly grown vegetation has now brought more wildlife in. We enjoyed the SkyTram, Pyramid Lake (the island is cute!) and Miette Hot Springs. All are ready to serve...

It's very difficult to find fault in the hotel. The location is wonderful, a peaceful setting on a stunning lake, yet within a short drive of the centre of Jasper. The rooms are comfortable and well thought out, the staff are kind and attentive. We would definitely look to stay there again! Finally, the onsite restaurant Aalto is absolutely wonderful. In fact, we had some of the best food and wine of our trip to Canada there.

Those services were amazing. The room was clean, the beds very comfy and staff so nice. This is the first pet friendly hotel where even the dog is welcome. In the room there was a bed, some treats, bols amd even a bed for the pet. That was unexpected and very appreciated. Thanks, I will definitely come back at this hotel.

In a very convenient position to visit jasper town and jasper national park. The room was big enough and well equipped The staff was really helpful and nice to us during our stay. They also have a nice coffee bar inside the hotel and you can access a buffet or menu breakfast at their sister hotel nearby.
