trip to jasper is very memorable for us, to be able to see Maligne Canyon and to be able to walk under ground is amazing. The frozen waterfalls is so beautiful and the cave is gorgeous. Weather was perfect and to top it off we went to Pyramid Lake in the hope to see the Northern Lights. Lady Aurora didn't disappoint, she shows up!!!! Around 10:30 pm, she let up because it was so dark and no pollution, she shines and dance. Amazing!!!
Jasper is a really wonderful town to visit with some great food places as well as the opportunity to go skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, ice skating. We went on a nature tour and an ice canyon hike with Sundog Tours who were amazing. I wish we had spent more time there during our trip. We had an amazing amazing Sandwich at the Patricia Street Deli as well as great meals at Earls, Jasper Brewing Company and Wafflato. My tip would be get a hotel in the town itself rather than on the outskirts. Loved Jasper
I recently spent two nights in Jasper during the winter months and I have to say, it was an amazing experience! There was so much to do and see, even with the cold weather. First of all, skiing at Marmot Basin was a highlight of the trip. The slopes were challenging, but also very fun and rewarding. We enjoyed the stunning views from the top and the fresh powder was a delight to ski on. Another great activity was ice walking in Maligne Canyon. The frozen waterfalls and stunning ice formations were simply breathtaking. It was a unique experience that I would highly recommend. We also went skating on a frozen Pyramid lake, which was a lot of fun. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the experience was just magical. And of course, we saw plenty of wildlife in the city itself. Wapiti were just casually walking down the street - it was incredible to see them up close. Overall, Jasper in winter is an amazing destination for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to experience the beauty of nature. The cold weather only added to the charm and we had a wonderful time exploring everything the area has to offer.
It's a great ski town, but that's about it. Comparing it to the other mountain towns such as Banff, it's lesser. Of course you can do hikes and mountain biking in the summer, but your time is better spent in Banff/ Canmore if you're interested in summer activities.
Jasper is my favourite town and area, in the Canadian Rockies. It is a Dark Sky Community and has the Jasper Planetarium. The staff and shows are informative and entertaining. Their telescope experience is not to be missed. The town is very walkable, and the options for dining are extensive and are of fine quality. When you add the scenery and the wildlife that you can see, there is literally no way to not enjoy your time here.
Staff on phone and in person very helpful. They were understaffed at check in so wait was long, but the woman did her best and I complimented her. Need to have some updates with plugs, could not plug in the coffee maker in a convenient location, maybe install a couple more. Jasper is so beautiful and hotel is in a great location. Would come again.
