People are rude and condescending, not friendly Canadians. airline cancelled our flight because they went in a strike. I was supposed to be there for 2 hours before flying to LA. The airline threaten to delete my booking if I continue asking questions that everyone was asking. Staffa at the hotel were unfriendly, they did not want to take a debit card payment. I was in Europe before I got to this dump, and never had an issue paying with Debit. The lady at Sonesta 11 had the audacity to said I was in Canada. Airport security were condescending too, not even the Israel or London Airport were condescending. I’m disappointed to even had cross through Canada. Not a place I will go back or recommend. I was happy to be back in the US.
Calgary, a cosmopolitan city with numerous skyscrapers, owes its rapid growth to its status as the center of Canada’s oil industry. However, it’s still steeped in the western culture that earned it the nickname “Cow town,” evident in the Calgary Stampede, its massive July rodeo and festival that grew out of the farming exhibitions. Must also visit Cochrane to enjoy country side with 75 years old ice cream shop "Mckays", which is short drive from the place to my stay.
We didn't go to Calgary by choice. It's Westjet hub and we had to overnight there. Arrived late in the afternoon, left in the early morning It was cold and we did not have warm clothing so we really didn't do anything except have dinner.
We had a brief overnight stay that went perfectly at this hotel. Staff were helpful and efficient, room was clean and fresh, beds were good, bathroom clean etc., quiet, thermostat worked, breakfast was nicely laid out, room tidy, staff good, taxi rides to and from airport were a complementary bonus!
What an amazing city !! Thank you The dinner at the Calgary Tower 360 was incredible. Stampede is also AMAZING Check out Dominion Gardens and Telus science centre and the incredible Calgary Zoo. You need more than 2 days to experience everything. Two days alone just for the Calgary Stampede
The city is pleasing to the eyes, especially the river. There isn’t much to do in winter other than going to ski resorts outside of Calgary. I will say those who live here are rather unkind in comparison to the city I am from. The roads are confusing and will require assistance from google/apple maps along with a passenger to guide you.
Calgary
This is a private guesthouse, close to the airport, in a quiet location with many running/cycling trails around. Also there is a supermarket with a decent selection of ready-made food to go. However, it will take you approx. 1.5h to reach Calgary downtown is you don't have a car and reply on public buses. My room was spacious enough and relatively warm, even though it was half-basement with small windows. The host was very responsive and reacted almost immediately to my questions or complaints. WiFi worked well.
The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and happy to accommodate. This hotel would definitely be my first choice when back to Calgary. I was pleasantly surprised that the gym was not only open but had just about everything you might think of for a full-body workout. The location is very central and is within 10-20min walk from all downtown attractions and stores. Having a fridge, coffee machine, and a digital clock in the room was definitely a bonus.
Breakfast buffet was better than expected. There were eggs, sausage, waffles, muffins, cereals, etc. Starts at 6:30 a.m., and the earlier you get downstairs, the better. Gets busy around 8 a.m. There was also a microwave in our room, which was a pleasant surprise, as no other hotels we stayed at in Calgary/Banff/Jasper provided one. So, any leftovers had to be eaten cold. Close to the airport, so this is a good place to stay before/after a flight.
The staff went above and beyond to ensure the best services, especially we needed an early check in and late check out (flight timing from Ottawa), however the Manger was so courteous that when we requested he gladly accepted our request and the best part is that he made us feel truly welcomed to the hotel. We will definitely stay in Coast Calgary next time we are in Calgary and now we are inclined to stay on Coast's hotels across Canada.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Excellent location (west end of Calgary, along Trans Canada Highway) for day trips into the mountains (Banff, Lake Louise, etc)--a much less expensive option than staying in the mountains. A Denny's restaurant is attached to the hotel. Other fast food restaurants across the street (Wendy's, McDonalds, Starbucks).
A very beautiful hotel in an amazing location. The room was very comfortable, and the staff was professional, kind, and extremely helpful as I made an error in booking our room to begin with. The location is wonderful, with many restaurants and cafés near by, as well as the river so the option to go walking around downtown Calgary is particularly inviting. Definitely worth staying here.
Location right by the airport is cool; we could see airplanes flying in and taking off from our window (3rd floor, back side), as well as a view of downtown Calgary in the distance. Check in staff was good, and of course the kids loved the pool. Nothing to complain about in the room, and I liked that there were some thinner as well as thicker pillow choices.
The hotel room was priced great. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I loved the little office desk in the corner. The washroom could have been a bit bigger but was very clean. Room service came in a box instead of the traditional way because of the covid situation. The hotel is located in perfect location to explore downtown Calgary!
hotel was chosen explicitly because it had airport shuttle because we were only in Calgary overnight. but there’s been no shuttle for two years. transportation cost us $40 each way. . staff/manager made no accommodation and were not even pleasant. blamed booking.com for the error.
We booked the hotel so we could rest after flying into the Calgary airport. The room was clean and spacious and the hotel was very close to the airport, which was helpful in our case due to a nighttime arrival. It was nice to have hot coffee and a complimentary breakfast in the morning.
As you can expect, hotel is in the Calgary airport. We did not move anywhere else, because next morning We had to catch flight. Anyway during the stay, pool and fitness was available. really nice and comfy hotel. We had even rooms with view over the runway.
a basic hotel that did everything to a decent standard. Location was quite far out of Calgary Downtown but hotel was clean and pleasant and would recommend this.
It was great! Brand new hotel. Not a bad view of downtown Calgary at night from the north side of the hotel.
Decent hotel near Calgary airport. Reasonable value for money. Bar/Restaurant open till late.
