Jasper has to be one of my favourite places in Alberta to visit. I love to hike and nothing is bettter than breathing in fresh Mountain air plus the scenery in and around Jasper is absolutely breathtaking. You should go!
Canmore is a great traveller's stop. Beautiful scenery within the mountains at any time of the year. Several great Inns and restaurants. Easy access to Banff park or the provincial mtn parks of Alberta. Downtown is a great evening walk-a-bout and dinner spot. Several bike and walking trails through out the area.
Very crowded mountain town with hoards of Chinese tourists. Lots of toney shopping if that's your thing, but all venues tourist stressed. Very commercialized place in an extraordinarily beautiful part of Alberta. To escape shutterbugs, hike longer trails. Most tourists walk no more one km from parking lots along Icefields Parkway.
Elkwater is a hidden gem out of the way that is worth the extra Drive (4 hours from Calgary). The small town is walkable and sits on Elkwater lake. On one side, rolling prairie; the other side a tree lined high hill that rises to the plateau. There are numerous hiking trails from easy to difficult and the view from the top of the plateau is stunning, especially looking southwest to the Sweet Grass hills in Montana. If you have a boat, you will love this place, but also great for paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. Plus they have a small beach and perfect for a hot summer day. They also have Camp restaurant, one of the best places to eat in southern Alberta. So much to do.
Cardston was homey and welcoming! The Mormon Temple there is a beautiful Cardston landmark. Re. our trip: We very much enjoyed the Kalispell area and beautiful Flathead Lake. Glacier National Park and the "Many Glaciers" area were awe-inspiring. We found Waterton Lakes in Alberta, Canada (especially the Prince of Wales Hotel) to also be a wonderful respite. Driving the Crowsnest Highway from near the Waterton area to the US border in the panhandle of Idaho (Bonners Ferry) was utterly breathtaking!
Red Deer is a quaint city in the heart of Alberta, nice parks and lots of recreational opportunities close by. Easy to get around.
It was the middle of an Alberta winter so time was spent indoors with family. There appeared to be a lot of winter activity on the lake which was frozen over- skidoo and ice fishing. Aesthetically pleasing community. Everything easily accessible
We've never stayed in Canmore always in banff but we will definitely stay in Canmore the next time we return to Alberta!!! Everything is nearby!!! Grocery stores, supply stores, restaurants!!!! A beautiful little town!!!!easy to get around!!! Has an amazing recreation Centre!!!!
Banff is beautiful! Full of tourists which can be a bit much. Lovely sights, best skiing in Alberta, great food and friendly staff everywhere you go!
Waterton Park is one of the best places to visit in Alberta. The hiking, boat tour and townsite are fabulous. The views and wildlife are spectacular. We always enjoy great food no matter where you choose to eat. We will return year after year.
The Crimson Jasper is centrally located in the village of Jasper, Alberta where it is close to all the amenities a tourist will require. It contains a licensed restaurant which is very expensive and we declined to eat there after reviewing the dinner meal prices. Within a 7 minute walk from the hotel, we discovered several affordable restaurants and later on watched the NHL Stanley Cup hockey playoffs in the Jasper Brewing Company establishment with a few craft beers. Great atmosphere and would highly recommend it for the thirsty pallet.
Me and my husband stayed at Ramada for a night during our week long tour of Alberta. We didnt know what to expect but we were amazingly surprised by our experience. The breakfast was exceptional. Staff were warm and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. Mini-fridge and microwave were a bonus. The location was ideal as its right on the highway between Edmonton and Jasper. A great place to stay for anyone travelling to Jasper. . It was great value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Hinton
Pines Motel is amazing! We didn't realize there is a timezone difference between B.C and Alberta. As such, we were going to arrive one hour late to check-in. After we called, the owner stayed late to check us in and was super friendly. The room was very clean. It was cleaner than the chain hotels I usually stay at. Driving into Jasper, I got to see the amazing view everyday. I highly recommend Pines motel for the friendly and exceptional staff and cleanliness.
Super clean, excellent staff, quiet room, relaxing, great breakfast, wonderful comfortable bed and super value. As a couple who have traveled a lot and a husband who have spent 240 nights in a hotel one year as Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. - highest marks for the Holiday Inn Express in Sherwood Park, Alberta. SPECIAL thanks to General Manager, Hany Tadros who set us up in a perfect room by setting us up with perfect accommodations as we traveled with our dog.
Claresholm
The Bluebird is a very old, you could say historic motel in Claresholm, Alberta. When you walk into the rooms it's like you stepped back in time. The room I stayed in was called the "RCMP room." It featured photos, artwork and memorbilia from Canada's early days. Sure the kitchen table could have been right out of my grandparents kitchen, but old in this case was quaint not run-down and the room was very nice and put a smile on my face.
Room was 29 degrees when we got in (on a average August day) we had the air con blasted and the window open all evening (for 5 hours), it only went down to 26. Called the front desk, no one picked up. Let my information (cell) to contact me and no calls. We stayed at several different hotels in Alberta and B.C. during out trip and this was the most expensive ($300) and poor accommodation.
Calgary
There is literally nothing good about this property. I have been using booking.com for over 10 years to safely book family trips around Alberta and didn't think that it was possible to have a bad experience of this magnitude. This hotel should be immediately taken off the site for the health and safety of travellers; sadly this is no exageration.
Brooks
We stayed at the Brooks Alberta Location. Bobbi was absolutely amazing to my family. She went over and beyond to make us all happy and comfortable. Home away from home was the feeling we got from her. She is an absolute gem! We will definitely be coming back. Our room was very clean and the beds were excellent!
I've personally stayed at this hotel since 2006 when traveling through High Level, Alberta and will continue to book this hotel for brief travel. The hotel is located right next door to a Boston Pizza restaurant which is very convenient to tourists traveling through.
I just wanted to say that this hotel fully refunded my stay after I missed my stay due to the wildfire situation in northern Alberta. I appreciate their response to the situation. I will stay in the future because of the service I received getting my refund. Thank you!
During my stay in various hotels around Alberta & BC, this hotel has the best format, selection and service for breakfast. Hotel housekeeping staff were excellent working through their COVID protocols while keeping the room fresh for my week there.
we loved our room we have been traveling all over Alberta, this was definitely the best stay we have had! it was nice to do our laundry and cook our own meal. we lived in our robes provided by the hotel. i would definitely stay again and recommend!
My 6 yr old absolutely loved the waterslide - she was there for 2.5hrs after a daily hike. I think that waterslide might have been the highlight of the whole Alberta trip for her ). I'm very happy I booked that hotel for our last night stay.
The hotel staff were very pleasant at check in and the room was very clean. The room was supplied with all the amenities and I had a very comfortable stay. Loved the location as I was central to the airport and the university of Alberta.
Canmore
If your looking for a place to stay very close to Banff, Alberta Canada love, like or don't mind ruget this is the place. I feel & know it is fantastic for the price in the area. Definitely will be staying there again!!
There was an unusual charge on the room called a VAT which is an european term for Value added tax. I know that Alberta does not have that although they do have a hotel tax so very confusing on how the hotel was doing this.
Lake Louise
My whole family had the best time here! Stayed in many places in Alberta but kids (3&5yrs) rated this the best. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Luxurious feeling of the grounds and walking in the hotel
The room was priced for good value, good enough for a one night and gone use. Strip malls with all the amenities are fairly close within a kilometer or so, with the location being in the Alberta far end of town.
Alberta is still in covid19 lockdown and the complimentary breakfast buffet was closed. If you ask reception, the hotel has prepared a breakfast in a brown paper bag to go. Twas a decent surprise.
Comfortable and spacious room, good value, good pool and hot tub + one of the few hotels around to offer a hot buffet breakfast following the end of Covid restrictions in Alberta on July 1, 2021.
