Excellent mountain location for a short stay, lots of hiking tracks in Summer. The Kurhaus Hotel has a good restaurant. Lac Blue is a very a nice short hike, but do get there early in the morning before lot of people get there.

Arolla is located at the end of the Val d'Hérens, a long...
Arolla is located at the end of the Val d'Hérens, a long valley leading deep into the high Alps. Arolla itself is a very small place with just a few hotels, but the villages of Les Haudères, Evolène and La Sage, a little lower down in the valley are old, very traditional mountain villages in beautiful locations. There are many hiking trails that lead from Arolla into the forests and high mountain lakes - Lac Bleu (Blue Lake) is best know and somewhat overcrowded in the summer, but a beautiful hike. And there are plenty of other less crowded trails. Experienced mountain guides are available for the many climbing opportunities above the hiking trails.

Arolla is a gem of the Alps.
Arolla is a gem of the Alps. Unlike its neighbour Zermatt it is unspoilt. A good variety of hikes up to alpine huts and lakes. The more adventurous can hire a guide and trek on the glaciers or climb the various peaks such as Pigne d’Arolla or L’aguile de Tsar. The Arolla forest is especially pretty and peaceful and accessible.

Staff were amazing, I needed to see a Dr after an accident and one of the hotel staff drove me 15k to Evolene, and waited while I saw Dr and drove me back, when I returned the lady on reception went out of her way to work out how I could try and continue my planned haute Route accommodation choices but by public transport since I could no longer hike. The room was lovely with fabulous mountain views. Breakfast was also really good, Nespresso coffee, wonderful bread eggs etc.

Beautiful hotel in central Arolla. Excellent location for the nearby hikes. Staff were superb, friendly and very helpful. Restaurant is excellent. Good breakfast too. Amazing view of the Mont Collon. Free parking. Bus stop just opposite if not arriving by car. Nice sized room with a balcony.

In Arolla, this is the only place you can ski out ski in really. Old atmosphere is good to get the feeling of being out of the noisy, crowded urban life. Since my earlier visits some years ago, they did selective modernisation.

Very cozy Swiss hotel, with wooden interior. Very friendly staff. Clean and conveniently located for hiking near Arolla. Shared showers and toilets were good and clean.
