Hotel in Bacharach
This historic hotel lies in the beautiful Loreley Valley, in the center of Bacharach. Hotel Gelber Hof is just a 10-minute walk fro the famous Straleck Castle. Room and hotel was much better than expected after reading poor reviews. Single room was small but clean. Bathroom good. A posted note let you know to let water run a while and wait for hot water but in morning when people had the hot water started from showers the water was warm already. Great value. I had a backpack and bag and it was fine. Free breakfast was adequate. I worried after reading some reviews but now that I have stayed there I would stay again. There were lights in the halls, you just had to turn them on as needed. Switch by each room in hall. Elevator was a huge plus! Some larger rooms had the door open after people had left and they looked very nice. I believe they had been renovated. It is not the Ritz but it is clean and in the center of town. So convenient. Easy access to the steps that lead to the castle. I was pleased and I am not fancy but particular. About 8 minute walk from the train station.

I loved the scenery, the hills with vines, the lovely and really old houses, the castles, the river. There are a lot of restaurants for every taste but not a big variety of dishes. Everybody is eating Flammkuchen and drinking Riesling. It was very disappointing that they do not serve fish. We expected that they will have a lot of fish given the river is in front of the village but the only fish was herring in cream sauce. It is easy to get around, the village is not very big. Reaching the castle was a bit of an effort but it is not impossible. For my next visit I will pay attention to the conditions of the reservation. The one I made was nonrefundable and you cannot cancel it even if you change your mind a minute after making the reservation.
We happened to be in Bacharach at the time of the grape harvest. The foliage was in the midst of changing colors. It was a beautiful time to be there. However, regardless of the time of year, this charming little town is a must see for anyone touring Germany. The people are friendly, and the wine, beer, and food couldn't be better!
An amazing old town, beautifully preserved and maintained - very friendly place - eager to make your stay a good and memorable one. Loved the old, historic buildings, cobbled streets and unusual shops selling such a wide range of original and mostly hand crafted goods at very good prices. Ate in a beautiful hotel in the centre - fabulous. There are several, quirky, old places to stop for refreshments and food; literally spoilt for choice, which one??? Lots of parking available just minutes away from the centre of the town adjacent to the main road and River Rhine.
Super charming place right on the Rhine. Happy people, great restaurants, great wine tasting and unbelievable castles all around. This is the perfect home base for exploring the best part of Germany. We will definitely be back!
Charming town in the heart of the Rhein River valley! You can take the neighboring Ferry to other riverside towns. Nice restaurants in town and some cute shops. Take an nice walk along the river (noticed some RV parking available beside the river too!). Town is small an easily walked in an afternoon. We ate at the Bacharacher Hof Restaurant. Family owned and homemade! Highly recommend!
It's a great place from which to go on long hikes. I would recommend Ruine Stahlberg for a short hike - it's possible to take different routes there and back to mix it up. There are some beautiful benches and tables where you can have a picnic lunch. For a 3-4 hour walk, go to Ruine Fuerstenberg, but just take small, unnamed walking trails to increase the length of the hike. We didn't run into a single person on the way there! Ruine Fuerstenberg isn't suitable for very small children or the elderly because it involves climbing up some rather rickety ladders and/or slippery makeshift steps. As for Bacharach city, Altkolnische Hof has some excellent food and wine tasting. Otherwise, take a walk along the city walls, there are 3 restaurants there that looked great.
Bacharach
We had not initially booked for breakfast, but did after we arrived. It was well worth the price, and there are not a lot of cafes in the town that open early. The entire place was very clean, and the triple room was roomy, with the single part having its own sink - they shared a balcony with a view. The hosts were very welcoming and gave us a lot of information for touring nearby as well as recommended some a couple of restaurants in town - we ate at them both and they were delicious!
Bacharach

Lovely garden and beautiful surrounding area. Ideal locations for walks. Such a lovely couple. Thank you for a lovely stay. We live Bacharach if we come back for a third time we will be staying again. Definitely recommend.
Great location right in the heart of Bacharach. Beautiful setting near the Rhine River and amidst hills and vineyards. Easy walk to river and through the old village. Boat trips on the Rhine depart within walking distance. Room and bathroom were large. Bed was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was ample to start the day. Staff members were very helpful and pleasant.

The apartment was really good and quite spacious. It has a lovely terrace looking over the wine yards. Bathroom was also nice and clean with good hot water, hair dryer was good quality. The owners are very nice and helpful. Breakfast at the Hotel was good enough for us. It was a lovely stay at Bacharach :)
Bacharach
The apartment was clean, spacious, well furnished and had all that someone could need. The kitchen was well equipped, there were a lot of towels in the bathroom. The apartment is near train tracks but it is well soundproofed and the trains do not run in the night so we had nice sleep.
I requested to stay an extra night at the hotel due to difficulty finding another room because of a German holiday. the staff got us an extra night in what was obviously an upgraded room! wonderful view and great location. breakfast was included in price and was excellent
It was super! Very pretty place for stay! I recommend! The owner waited us and showed all. A hospitable and friendly woman. This hotel is a private big house with 3 floors. Not far from train station and centre of town.
Nice little hotel in a very nice town. Breakfast was good, and the wifi fine, perhaps because their wasn't many guests yet due to the time of year and the corona situation.
The town is nice and the hotel couldbe a good value for the money, but the management needs to invest a bit more.
Otherwise, the hotel was nice and comfortable. I'd stay again but wouldn't dine again.
Great location and the hotel owner is very, very nice and helpful.
