Cologne is a magnificent with it's majestic dome and bridges. The Kolsch beer is amazing and their potato fried pancakes are delicious. A must is the Cologne Old town part. Great nice Rhein boat tour and the chocolate museum is a super plus for people who enjoy it.

the "old quarter" isn't really very old, and doesn't have the mystique. The cathedral is amazing, and one of our favorite stops was the Cologne 4711 showroom. Now that was fun! Restaurants along the river were excellent. We enjoyed the city, but it wouldn't be on our list a second time.

I stayed in Cologne three days.

I stayed in Cologne three days. It was sad to discover how much the city was destroyed by British bombing during the WW2: not many old buildings survived. It use to be a very beautiful city with plenty old stunning architecture before the war. The Cathedral is impressive as any other large Cathedral would be. If you have got spare time and spare money you can visit the city.

I have been many times, but the Dom still looks wonderful, especially in the evening. Old Town is full of bars & Restaurants. They also make the best beer in the world Kolsh. Good shopping centre, a boat trip down the Rhine, plenty to do. Xmas markets are good fun.

Visiting the Dóm was another tick on the bucket list, maybe a bit of an overpriced one. Once you get away from the shopping malls and the like Kóln gets more interesting but I was shocked at the level of commercialism. Took a while to escape the 'this could be anywhere, Liverpool or Rome' parts and find some character.

A fascinating city rich in history.

A fascinating city rich in history. I only had an overnight stay but from what I saw I wish I’d had more time here. The cathedral is immense and spectacular, the streets and squares around it are busy and bustling. There is high end shopping. I recommend a walk along the Rhine. The architecture is a mix of 50s and 60s brutalist and more modern builds, due to its bombing in the war. The contrasts are so interesting. I also recommend the National Socialism museum, which used to be the Gestapo headquarters for the Rhineland. The museum displays form a timeline from the top of the building to the awful basement. It carefully documents Cologne’s wartime past and the slide of Germany into fascism, and the ills committed by the Nazis. On a lighter note, the Farina perfume museum is fascinating! I enjoyed an hour long tour of the museum with the brilliant guide, who told us about the amazing history of eau de cologne, and then led us through a fun and interesting smell session of different ingredients. Both museums are just a ten minute walk from the station. If I went back I’d prioritise seeing the Roman-German museum and the Ludwig modern art museum, which are both by the cathedral.

Modern Hotel with pleasant staff. Breakfast was good with a wide variety to cater for all tastes. Room was fine and suited us for a two night stay in Cologne as we were travelling onto another part of Germany. The Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Cologne City Centre a few minutes walk from the Cathedral (Koln Dom) and the massive range of shops. The underground car park was good with plenty of room to park a car and was secure overnight. I would consider using this hotel again on future visits

Right by the cathedral, in the center of everything. It is also right in the train station building. If location is important to you, this hotel is the absolute best. But also, the staff was amazing and the breakfast was very tasty. I am convinced this is literally the best stay in Cologne if you want a practical and affordable hotel.

It was our third time in Cologne, and that hotel was the best choice! Great location, very clean, and hospitable. The guy from staff (sorry, I forgot his name) has an excellent sense of humor. When we arrived our apartment was occupied, so he gave us their best, larger apartment. Highly recommended.
