The staff was incredibly helpful and professional. The hotel is in the city centre, and even though it is located in one of the smaller streets it has great amenities like its own parking with a car elevator and a terrace. The food in the breakfast buffet was delicious and very well priced - I really enjoyed the baked goods especially. The room was very comfortable, clean and the bed gave me the best sleep of my week-long travel through Andalucia. I will come back to Crisol Almeria next time I am in town!

It’s located was ideal and there is a parking garage for a small fee.around the corner from hotel there are bus you can ride the center , where you can find lots of cafe Bars and shopping. Beach was about 10 min away with car.

The Moorish Watchtower

Almería lies on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusía, overlooked by the old Moorish citadel or ‘Alcazaba’. It offers sandy beaches, rocky coves, clear waters, and the typical friendliness of southern Spain. Its urban pattern blends Moorish legacy, medieval buildings, modern architecture, and colourful narrow streets.

It was founded in the mid-10th century by the Caliph of Cordoba, and was named ‘Al-Mariy-yat’ or ‘the watchtower’, as it was part of the coastal defences of the Caliphate. After internal divisions in the Caliphate and Christian crusades, the city finally surrendered to the Catholic monarchs a few years before the first trip of Columbus. A range of hotels in Almeria’s city centre will allow you to enjoy this magic atmosphere from a close distance.

The Cathedral of St Mary of the Incarnation was originally a mosque, and was built resembling a fortress, in order to offer resistance to pirates. The nearby Gata-Nijar Cape Natural Park offers beautiful landscapes and beaches. Hotels on Almeria’s beaches are a popular choice, while a variety of accommodation is also available in the surrounding villages of Roquetas de Mar, Aguadulce, and San José.

The city is serviced by Almería Airport, a local railway station, and a bus station. Ferry services to Tunis and the Spanish enclave of Melilla are also available.

I found the area really interesting, fascinating...

I found the area really interesting, fascinating archetecture and places to visit. Wonderful little eateries and friendly people. Not a place to drive in reality, far better to walk and there is lots within a reasonable distance - only drawback was the hills lol but in fairness, there were lots of spots to sit if the hills got a bit much. In the main area lots of interesting shops so something for every taste.

Almeria is very modern and calm city.

Almeria is very modern and calm city. We were there during October, so there were no many tourists... there are students and local people. So the prices for everything were 'normal' (no like in other tourist cities). The beach is perfect and there is an Alcazaba castle, which is amazing. Also many museums and shops. There is also a lot of cycling roads, so you can even rent a bike.

The old town is pretty with small streets and flowers. Steep climb to the Alcazaba which is well worth a visit. Good shopping area in the town centre but we struggled to find restaurants that provided proper meals (not burgers) rather than tapas. The rail station was undergoing an upgrade and we had a bus replacement from bus station to suburb station. Taxis drivers don't seem to speak English so couldn't order a taxis which meant a 30 minute walk at 7am. Couldn't find information in English on bus routes.

In our opinion, the only place worth visiting in the city...

In our opinion, the only place worth visiting in the city Almeria is the castle. From there you have beautiful view on the whole city and coastline. We recommend going there shortly before sunset and bring a bottle of water with you. Unfortunately, when we were there, there was a lot of road construction going on, so if you are going to the city centre by car, leave a bit earlier than the navigation tells you. Also, the restaurants and streets were packed with tourists and locals. So, if you are planning to eat in the city centre, book in advance! During our stay in Almeria, we have used our car to go around (within the city as well as to visit neighbouring villages and beaches). We could always find a parking space, independent where we went. For beach parking we usually paid €6 per day.

Almería is a lovely town with friendly people and a...

Almería is a lovely town with friendly people and a beautiful culture. I was particularly struck by how active the older generation is, you see elderly people out walking, going to the parks, meeting friends and enjoying tapas. There’s a real sense of community and a good quality of life. The urban beach is clean, not overcrowded, and has great facilities. Almería feels like a relaxed, easy-going place where people enjoy life, with plenty of fresh fish and seafood. A wonderful town for a slower, healthier way of living.

The L30 bus only costs just over a Euro connecting the...

The L30 bus only costs just over a Euro connecting the centre and airport so saves money compared to transport alternatives. Public transport (Alsa bus) to Mojacar is limited. I had to catch the 9am (the next one being at lunchtime) and return on the last one at 16.50. The bus station is outside the main town so catch the local bus (L1 or L2) for a Euro or so), otherwise walk in the sun for 20 to 30 minutes(?) Almeria is a good alternative to resorts on the Costal del Sol etc. being quieter but still has plenty of bars and restaurant as well as the magnificent Alcazaba. Sadly the Civil war shelters are still closed for renovation.

It’s very conveniently located. I love going back to Almeria, since I did my Erasmus in 2022/2023 there. The apartment looks neat, aesthetic, has a desk for work, and nicely working AC. Washing machine and kitchen utilities are a nice bonus. Close to supermarkets, and near the best tapas places in El Zapillo. The beds are tough, and we really liked it. I loved the room, it was spacious, comfy beds. Smart tv in the room, you can connect your phone. Receptionists are all professional and welcoming. Good restaurants nearby. It is outside the city but it only takes 15 minutes to be in city by bus or you can walk 20-25 mintues. Hotel has private car park if preferred, but there's also free parking on the street. I would re-book here if again in Almeria.

The hotel is rated a 1 star but I would have given it a 2 star, the Aircon was great & the reception was open 24 hours the staff were very good it was very clean the & very central everything you needed was around the hotel all the bars, restaurants, a shopping mall & the market... we had a really good break in almeria. ⛱️

The hotel was well located in the centre of Almeria with many bars and restaurants close by and only a short walk to major sites of interest. All the staff were polite and helpful especially when sorting a taxi to get back to the airport.
