Hostal Restaurante La Muralla is located in the village of Cañete, in Cuenca province. It is a country-style guest house offering free Wi-Fi, an award-winning restaurant and a café with terrace. Good rural location. Hotel was cosy warm it was cold in the village. The lunch was excellent and very good value. It seems popular with the locals it was packed.
La Laguna is set in Laguna del Marquesado, in the Castilla-La Mancha Region, and is 50 mi from Cuenca. The unit is 59 mi from Albarracín. This was as an idyllic cabaña in a precious little village nestled up in a fairly remote part of Spain. If you want to "get away from it all" this is the place to be! It looked great from the photos; it turned out to be better than we even expected. This is the sort of lodging experience that you will always remember, and if you are like us, it will be one that will give you pleasure remembering. It is about 15 km outside Cañete, itself a treasure of an out-of-the-way Spain pueblo with one of the most impressive Moorish walled-towns and mountain-top castle/fortresses in all of Spain. You go through a beautiful wooded river valley approaching it from Cuenca. The whole experience was somewhat enchanting (and we have been touring Portugal and Spain for several weeks now) and comes close to topping our list of places (all top tourist destinations) visited. Ana the host was scheduled to meet us in the plaza by the church at 6 pm. We stopped at the village (La Huerta de Marquesada) just before La Laguna thinking that we had reached the village or missed it. I drove into La Huerta and asked the first person I saw if this was La Laguna. She said no, but the person I was looking for was right there. Ana stepped out of the woman's house, and we both marveled at the coincidence of the connection. We were about 15 mins early, but what it also said that the two villages (La Laguna's population is 25) are small enough that the towns people were probably on the outlook for us. Ana was very cordial and helpful in connecting us with the mayor of Cañete. I was on a quest of sorts to find out about a possible genealogical connection with Cañete.
