The history of this city is fascinating and the attractions inexpensive. Because of the heat in July we took more time but it could be done in less. Avoid the port area for eating and drinking, much cheaper and better quality just 5 to 10 minutes walk away. Had lovely food at La Taranta and the Curyy corner was amazing. Lovely city if you love Roman / naval history. Easy to walk around
Very good place to visit if you are interested in history. It is very easy to get around. Everywhere was in walking distance. The full city card was very good value. We preferred to eat outside the tourist area in small bars with local food.
The old quarter of town is great for just walking around, with very interesting historic architecture from Roman sites to exquisite Art Nouveau houses and business premises. A pity about all the vacant plots, though, and the general tackiness of the commercial centre. Remembering how difficult it was to get an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price on my last visit, I booked a self-catering apartment this time. I was there at the end of March on both visits, and expect that there would be many more and better dining options from Easter onwards.
Lovely town. Just booked one night. Arrived at about 2 pm. Was perfect amount of time to explore , have a lovely late lunch and watch the Palm Sunday parade that was amazing. Lots of lovely little shops to explore although we’re shut Sunday when we were there, Roman amphitheatre was amazing and great at night to photograph.
Surprised to find a shabby dirty town. The area around the castle was not maintained. The streets are dirty and there is a general air of dilapidation and decrepitude. People did not seem welcoming nor focused on tourists nor customer service. There was a distinct lack of information about what to do and see
We thoroughly enjoyed Cartagena. We returned after some thirty years and were very impressed. It has always been a great historical centre of interest with three thousand years of history but now it’s geared to the visitor more and more elegant with very good restaurants and cafes.
Cartagena
Excellent location in the old part of the city, almost traffic-free. Easy walking access to the old sights of the city and the many, many, excellent restaurants and bars. The kitchen was large, with fridge, cooker, well supplied with cutlery, crockery, pans. Large sitting area with comfortable settees and large dining table. Stand-in shower is big enough for two people and ample hot water .A great view from the terrace. Beach towels supplied, and used. Washing machine and TVs not used. Host offered us contact for anything we needed.
The breakfast was great with lots of choice and super coffee. The location was excellent for accessing carteghena. The hotel was very clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room service was excellent and good value. I would happily stay again.
The location was good for sightseeing in Cartagena and with good private parking. The Cafeteria was excellent with good tapas and very friendly staff. Breakfast can be taken in the hotel, but a good cheaper option can be taken in the Cafeteria.
Cartagena
A modern, clean airy and bright apartment in a great location by the train station and only a short walk down to the port. Really helpful staff too- will be recommending to friends and family for future visits to Cartagena
Cartagena
The staff were kind. It was a modest room. A bit antiquated but nothing out of the ordinary. It was exactly as expected. A cheaper end pension, which was clean and served our purpose for a one night stay perfectly.
Great location when travelling to cartagena by car. It was within walking distance from the centre and there was free parking available at the property.
Location was amazing, next to one of the main streets in Cartagena. Staff was incredibly nice and they had a 24h self-service for free coffee/tea.
