Saariselka has everything you need for a winter lapland trip! The ski resort is at walking distance, there are more than three DMC's to chose from when booking trips, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs. THe supermarket is big for a small town and offers all you need. Note that you can't buy wine in the supermarket but there's a small store next to it called Alko where you can pick up a bottle of wine.

It is a small and quiet town. Air is very fresh. Trees with snow on it are very beautiful. You can have many snow activities here. If you stay several days and the weather is good, you may have opportunity to see Aurora. Bus is very convenient. You can go from Rovaniemi. You can also take bus to Ivalo and Ivalo airport. Restaurants are very good in this small town.

It is a very beautiful place, but it is expensive.

It is a very beautiful place, but it is expensive. I just stayed for one night in a beautiful cabin. I think that the food is ok and also there could be some more interesting things to in the Hotel do when it gets dark.

You can do many activities - skiing, biking, hiking, relaxing, observing, and enjoying Lapland nature. You have a big chance to see the Aurora Borealis. There is a very comfortable and understandable system of day huts and wilderness huts with essential equipment in and out of the national park — an excellent place for people who love nature.

I was travelling with my sister who is in the wheelchair and there were several walks we could take, though in some we needed help of others, especially in deep downhills. People of Lapland were so friendly and helpful, which added the value of our stay. We were too early to see bright autumn colours and we missed the Northern lights as well, but those things didn't spoil our holiday. Beautiful nature, clear waters, reindeers and Siberian jays, fresh air, not too many travellers, beautiful weather....

Traveled with our kids, both 9 years old.

Traveled with our kids, both 9 years old. We liked booking activities at northern lights village and lapland safaris. We did the husky 10 km trail, reindeer sleigh, aurora hunting by heated sleigh, and snowmobile/ice fishing excursion. The snowmobile ride was nice and long and took us through some gorgeous and varied scenery. Some of it reminded me of the movie "Frozen." The aurora hut trail was also a nice, short hiking loop for our family. The ski resort had affordable rental equipment, and my son also liked riding a fat bike in the snow. Northern Lights Village has a kid snowmobile loop, 30 euro for 30 mins. The kids enjoyed that too!

Wow!! we were family of 5 and had loads of room would also be suitable for 2 families or group of friends as two separate living quarters and wash rooms. Well equipped kitchen and drying room , plenty of storage for ski gear which was great Fabulous views of the slopes in front and walking distance to irish bar on the corner 😉.. Just short walk to centre of Saariselkä and plenty of food options available. Ski bus stops short distance away had a Fabulous stay here would highly recommend

The room, the view and the Jacuzzi were even better than advertised, but the thing that stood out was how incredibly helpful the staff was. Juuso helped us with everything we could've needed and more: setting up the room in a particular way, driving us to places, even showing us around Saariselka. Maybe I'm biased because I proposed on this trip, but this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Get the Jacuzzi place! Absolutely worth every penny.

We fell in love with this small cottage 6’ away from Saariselka, in the middle of the Lappish forest. The structure is very cleaned and fitted with everything necessary, including a private sauna, a fireplace, wood for the fire, and sleighs. Right behind the house is a clearing with no light pollution where we could see the northern lights. The owner is very kind and available. Highly recommended for a magical stay.

Good Hotel but Disapointed about the cruelty they do with the dogs in the Hotel to offer a hushky experience, dogs are not Hushky therefore dogs suffer the coldnest and due to the dogs behaivor it is clear they are not well treated. Dogs work a lot. Hushkish are the right breed to support the weather and pulling the sled, bit they have other kind of dogs and it is evident the dos are suffering. Very slim and poor hair.

Beautiful cabins with all modern luxuries. Beautiful modern scandinavian design and amazing views over Saariselkä town from the gorgeus fjell of Kaunispää! Fell in love and will return in future many times. Restaurant was great and sauna with fjell view was also wonderful. There was also option for hot tub, but chose to take it in future with someone lucky lady.

The apartment is exactly as advertised and more! Great location, convenient and well equipped! Easy car park, shops, restaurants within walking distance, yet quiet and in the middle of Lappish nature. Clearly, the hosts are passionate about Lapland and want to share this with their visitors. It made us feel very welcome and as if we were home, away from home.

It’s a compact but very comfortable and well equipped apartment in a good location to walk to the market, restaurants, ski park, Husky & Co., Lapland safaris, etc. for all the activities. The large dryer was a great addition to help all the layers dry out by morning. Sauna in the bathroom also very nice.

Wonderful hosts. Felt like visiting friends. Large spread of breakfast. Rooms are cute with glass more than many other igloos. Roof is high so no feeling of cramped in small tent. Saw Northern lights too. Bed and other room features are very tastefully made with a lot of attention to small details.

The cottage was clean and tidy. Curtains for the big windows were very useful. The takeaway breakfast and dinner were good considering the price paid. The Saariselkä village is close nearby and can be reached by walking as well. Lots of possibilities for winter activities.

The kelo cabin was a great option for the two of us. Plenty of room to move about and like having the different seating areas and igloo. Would recommend ordering firewood before you arrive to take advantage of the fireplace.
