Nice small town. Not fully open Sunday and Monday. Local Boat trip and train - good to do. Feely Chateau organic vineyard is brilliant. This is a must do trip. Excellent knowledge and very interesting. Superb cheese pairing with the wine. Lovely owner called Caro, who makes you so welcome. Escala is a nice restaurant. There are plenty of nice places to eat.
Fabulous little city , easy to get around and so much to see , many medieval streets and houses , the Dordogne river flowing past with its passenger boats ,and a lovely little train to take you through the city
Not enough to interest in Town itself and so we spent two days travelling, Another day was wasted due to transport issue ie Try to find a Taxi ? They do not speak English and Tourist Info Place was also poor in that department. Boat trip was pleasant for 50 minutes,Tobacco museum closed and generally food out expensive. One full day and you have seen it all. There was a music festival of sorts ,ie some bars had a disco or an act...mediocre... However Visit to Sarlat exceptional. Bus trip to Perrigeux interesting but hard work walking when you are there.
It is a very pretty town with some lovely old streets. There's not a lot to do in the town itself. Public transport to/from the airport is very patchy. there was no transport available when our Ryanair flight arrived from Bournemouth. It was hard to get hold of a taxi.
Bergerac is a large town and the things worth seeing are in the central old town, which is very pretty. We were there for a night which was about enough. If you want to stay in the Dordogne there are other nicer places with more access to the river. Lots of nice restaurants though so plenty of places to eat and drink
As always a lovely place to visit , however sadly COVID has seen the closure of a lot of bar,s cafe,s and restaurants to close which leaves the town looking sad with shuttered up places. Let’s hope the council will get the town rejuvenated.
Very warm reception from the lady on reception, really helpful in advising us on places to eat and how to get around the area. Bed was very comfortable. Whilst not a criticism as such, this is a bang average hotel in a slightly scruffy part of the city. But then it is fairly keenly priced and it very centrally located (easy walk to bars, restaurants and the very pretty old town). The rooms are ok but aren't really somewhere that encourage you to chill out and relax. Not a venue for a romantic weekend.
Bergerac
Chosen for its walking proximity to the centre of Bergerac and consequent travel to the airport. The home is a charming property that has been sympathetically restored and renovated. Much has been done to transform to it to its former glory! Incredibly generous breakfast, unused portions bagged up for lunch/snack later :-D Nick and Jenny, the owners, are wonderful hosts and made me feel very much at home. A pleasure to meet such an energetic and interesting couple and their happy dog, Ruby!
Bergerac
Gorgeous apartment in centre of Bergerac only one street away from the old town. Beautifully refurbished and extremely well equipped. Lovely kitchen, and also a little outside terrace. Parking in private garage in neighbouring street for a smaller car. Plenty of places to eat or buy food from in nearby streets as well as in the old town.
Excellent city center location with free public street parking in front of and near the hotel, optional paid parking at the hotel. Peaceful garden with pool in town. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate your stay. Nicely renovated rooms. Breakfast in the hotel lobby for a very good price/value.
The apartment was so well equipped In terms of kitchen appliances and utensils. Probably one of the best we have ever stayed at. We appreciated the coffee. The bathroom was marvelous and having a washing machine was most helpful. It was in an excellent location.
I had a lovely stay with Hotel de France. The room is as described on Booking.com with photos that reflect the current standard of room. Staff are exceptional. Pool is lovely!
Charming property in the outskirts of Bergerac, our room was very spacious and the pool was very good. They also sell very nice wine. Good parking as well.
Right across the street from the train station. Great for a tired traveller . Several blocks to the restaurant area and Sunday market.
