Hotel De France is located in the historic town of Bergerac, a 5-minute walk from the Dordogne River. It offers a heated outdoor swimming pool and a sunbathing terrace. The staff was welcoming. The room was beautiful. The self-serve breakfast has an array of delicious choices. The location of the hotel is wonderfully close to the Notre Dame cathedral, and the charming "rues des piétons" (pedestrian streets) which make up "vieille ville" (old town) Bergerac.

Many families visiting Bergerac loved staying at Hotel The Originals de Bordeaux Bergerac (ex Inter-Hotel), Ludik for Rêveurs, and Hotel de France.
A lovely city, with a delightful Old Town. The residents are for the most part friendly and helpful. Old town is a Warren of streets, so it was tricky to get back to my hotel after dark. I speak a little French, so was able to ask for directions. Instead of pointing the way, young and old took me to the correct street! The walk along the river and across the bridge is nice. I found no bad food here, and the wine is excellent, even the 3 euro glass. It'seems easy to get around, as one can walk. Wear comfortable shoes, as there are many cobblestones.
Pretty, historic town, with some promising restaurants, but overstuffed with English people. I am English, but am not interested in eating in restaurants where you only hear English spoken. That is no longer France for me!
Better than expected, beautiful, old town. Great Saturday market. The real French country town experience. Even really good vegetarian options, including a pop up organic veggie/vegan foodcart one lively evening with a wine tasting event on the square.
We found the Tourist Office particularly helpful. Once you park the car, you can walk around the city easily. We took the boat ride in another city, but Bergerac also has the opportunity. I recommend it. Bergerac is truly a city of history. We loved the old buildings, the parks and squares. The Wine Museum was interesting. We took a ride on the little tourist train (think Thomas the Train) with English commentary. It gives a nice overview of the town.
Why a beautiful little city! If you are flying from this airport, make time to have a look around. We rushed in to a restaurant on the river front- then after wished we had taken more time to explore the bars, cafes and restaurants in the squares behind. More choice and better value!
This is a wonderful compact unspoilt town , with great and plentiful eateries. The people were very polite and friendly in general, recommend a river trip down the Dordogne .This is our second trip to Bergerac and hopefully not our last.

Good location close to the old town. Hoteliers were very pleasant and helpful. Room was pleasant, air con was really good and not too noisy. Given that our holiday coincided with a heat wave and temperatures up to 38 degrees it was a definite bonus. Breakfast was very nice, at €10 it was good value when you wanted to eat a lot but when you only wanted a light breakfast it felt a bit expensive. It would have been nice to have a deal which included breakfast but this was not offered through Booking.com.

They were really kind and lovely. The house is amazing, the room is huge with a wonderful bathroom. The garden is so beautiful and they let us to use the pool. In the morning the owner prepared us one of the best breakfast I had in my life... Warm croissants, pain au Chocolat, cereals, fruit, tea, coffee, juice... DELICIOUS! The owner was so lovely, she told us about places to see in Bergerac or things to do. I just can say THANK YOU for your kindness.
