The staff at this hotel were warm, welcoming, friendly and equally professional. They were helpful with advice and recommendations. Although we did not use it, the pool area was very inviting and well maintained. Initially as we approached the property we were concerned about the distance from the centre of town, however, we were wrong. So, do be aware that it’s a perfectly acceptable walking distance (my husband is not a great walker) from town and the Dordogne river, restaurants etc. Parking is available both free and paid reserved.
Bergerac
Our host Michel picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. He gave us a little tour of Bergerac upon arrival and answered our questions regarding the area, it was a really nice personal touch. There was milk, bread etc for us in the apartment, another thoughtful touch and the apartment itself was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Ideally located in town just a minute away from shops, restaurants etc and a short walk from the train station if you want to explore the Dordogne area.
Terrasson-Lavilledieu
Located in a picturesque part of Terrasson-Lavilledieu, this B&B accommodation is offered by a friendly and charming hostess, Isabelle, who went out of her way to communicate with us via the Google translator! We felt homely in this B&B and we were pleasantly surprised by the attractive medieval town of Terrassson. Les Jardine de I' imaginaire ( the Garden of Imagination) is a great attraction in the town which is much under represented in the Dordogne area of France.
My wife and I spent 7 nights at 1 logis à Domme, using the hotel as a base for exploring the Dordogne. It's not an exaggeration to say that this was one of the most delightful places we've stayed anywhere in the world. The palatial room and bath; the lovely garden; the pool and spa; the superb breakfasts; the cozy library; the breathtaking views. Most of all, the attention and friendship of the gracious hosts, Hélène and François, made this an incomparable experience.
A great little hotel located just 5 minutes from the old town. Lovely little pool area which was great after a hot day of exploring. Actually preferred being outside the old town - it made parking easier and it’s always nice to see the “real” part of a town. There is private parking that you can pay for but we never struggled to find on-street parking for free. Sarlat itself is a beautiful place and a fantastic base for exploring the Dordogne. Highly recommended.
Domme
Very comfortable cottage with ideal location in one of the cutest villages in Southwest France. Tons of charm! Superior master suite in cellar, plus two bedrooms upstairs. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable courtyard with table and sofas. Also, dozens of sights within an hours drive. Castles, caves, beautiful countryside, forests, food, friendly locals, market days in every town, float trips on the Dordogne River. Spent 3.5 weeks here, it felt like heaven.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
An excellent location, just in the middle of Sarlat old town, next to all the amazing restaurants. The apartment is spot-less, tastily decorated and its balcony is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of high-quality French wine. The hosts are simply lovely and they have shown us where one can park the car for free, which are some places where one can swim in Dordogne and so on. As for Sarlat La Caneda : This is the place to stay to explore the Perigord area.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
The apartment in Maison Pierre D'Or was in a great location, 10 minute walk into the centre of Sarlat. We loved sitting on the balcony in the morning with our coffee and pastries purchased from one of the local boulangeries. Kitchen had all the things we would need, but ended up eating out most of the time. Great place to stay while visiting the Dordogne, very central location. Hosts provided useful tips of places to eat and to visit.
The location close to the busy town centre of Sarlat was excellent and the fact that it had very adequate private parking was superb. The hotel was run by one man who was extremely helpful and gave advice on restaurants and in fact booked one for us. Sarlat itself is splendid visually and historically as well as being a perfect centre to visits the wonderful sites along the Dordogne.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
I loved the good-sized rooms with their individual decorations and added comforts like the washing machine. The apartment was in an historic building in the middle of the old town, handy to restaurants, shops, and the Saturday markets. It's a great base to visit the Lascaux caves, Rocamadour, and Dordogne villages like le Roque-Gigeac. The free parking was only a short walk away.
Castelnaud La Chapelle
Great location to explore the Dordogne region ! Spotlessly clean and cosy apartments on the very quiet side of the village. A lot of small things that make your stay so nice (coffee machine, mineral water upon arrival, kettle with a great choice of tea, etc) Willingness to help in every question Marvelous breakfast served by the owners We loved staying there…it was just perfect.
Saint-Vincent-de-Cosse
Hosts are lovely people from Northern France. Breakfast was very good and healthy. Situation directly on the Dordogne, very quiet at night, huge premises. Nearby (where the canoes are rented, 5 min walk) there is a little restaurant that despite looking basic, offers nice food (steaks including excellent ostrich steak (steak d'autruche). Beynac just 8 min by car.
The hotel is a chateau that has been recently renovated. Everything is brand new. the rooms are beautifully decorated, super cozy and very comfortable. There is a golf course in the works that should be ready by summer 2023. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great. We will come back to lovely Dordogne and will stay again at the Domaine de Rochebois.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
Fantastically well placed, this beautiful apartment in a 13th century building has all you need for a few days in Sarlat. An excellent base for visiting the Dordogne. Dan was a wonderful host. He guided us to free parking and then to his home. We were warmly welcomed by him with wine and strawberries. We highly recommend this accommodation. Thanks Dan!
Périgueux
Great location in the heart of downtown Perigueux. Low cost Car Parking 100m away. Apartment is quite small (fine for a couple for the 4 days of our trip) but thoughtfully renovated with good quality kitchen, and bathroom fittings. Bed is very comfortable. Air conditioning very welcome since it reached 41C in the Dordogne during our visit!
Castels
Well-appointed renovated apartment in an old farmhouse. Had a nice chat with the owners about the history of the building and area. Rooms, bedrooms included, are large so no feeling of being cramped. Close to Beynac, Sarlat, Castelnaud, caves at Les Eyzies. We would certainly stay there again if visiting the Dordogne or Vézère valleys.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
Wonderful location in the centre of the medieval town with entertainment under your windows every night courtesy of the flow of buskers (mostly excellent musicians). Very well-equipped apartment and perfect for a couple. Parking and electric vehicle charging was 5 mins walk away. A very convenient base to explore the Dordogne area.
Bergerac
Excellent apartment, tasteful, functional, cozy, everything we needed was available and working. Sophie was very helpful and responded fast to the few questions we had (and which we could have answered ourselves had we read the welcome booklet). We will definitely try to stay here next time we’re visiting the Dordogne!
Saint-Vincent-de-Cosse
The location was wonderful, the grounds were very nice and the rooms were very good. Good central location to check out the sights along the Dordogne River and the hill towns in the area. Food options nearby were good and close. We could see something like five chateau from where we were staying.
Hotel high on a hill overlooking the Dordogne was lovely. Travelling alone, so had small but adequate room. Had lunch with friends and dinner alone the same day. Sophisticated cooking, charming service, good wine. Not cheap, but good value for the location and quality. Overall, excellent.
