People go - of course - to Giverny for Monet's house and gardens. We visited in the middle of October, so it was "the end of the season". It pretty much closes from November to April. Even if there were fewer flowers the Gardens were beautiful. I would say that I could go back in the Spring or Summer, but the crowds are huge ,,,
Our visit to Giverny was good, but we had heard so much about it and were expecting acres for a whole day visit. Would have been better with more interpretive opportunities, especially inside the house such as more information about each room in an audio tour or app. The tip we got about the free mechanical museum down the road was a good one... we loved that place!
The house had little to interest us, though I enjoyed seeing the paintings in the studio. The gardens are beautiful even at this time of year when plants are going over. I would visit the gardens again in Spring if I could.
Such a delightful town with Monet’s Garden being the focus. Very walkable- Rue Claude Monet is the only street, aside from some rouelles, and a couple of side streets. Lovely cafes, and a few excellent restaurants, eg La Musardiere.
Giverny is definitely worth it. We have visited in June and now September. Both visits were immensely enjoyable. The gardens are beautiful and so well planted. The famous Lily Ponds are iconic and worth the effort even in the rain of this visit. Giverny itself is a small but nice village to amble round. Beware of closing days for restaurants. Usually Sunday evenings and Monday. Nearby Vernon or Roche Guyon are alternative places for food. Well worth a look is the Musée de l'impressionnisme and its gardens.
The village was beautiful but rammed with tourists. In the evening it became a lovely green village. The gardens in the village were gorgeous, as were the street flowers etc. I will never go back to Monets garden however. The owners over sell tickets so inside was frightening with crowds. We could not get out and could not move. The gardens became irrelevant to this horrible experience. It was possible to look accross at beautiful planting but my overall experience we tight packed crowds in heat and what I felt to be an unmanaged situation. So sad.
Giverny
The location is perfect for visiting Monet’s gardens. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The hosts are delightful, friendly, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and filling, and it was served in a lovely sunroom. I cannot say enough about how our brief stay with Luciano and his wife and their adorable dog Marcello made the highlight of our trip to Giverny even more memorable. Merci beaucoup! Grazie!

Super friendly staff, great breakfast and very nice attention to detail. This hotel is a hidden gem and we are so happy we “accidentally” found and booked it. Beautiful area, really cool building and such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely little place!

There wasn't a breakfast included and we weren't expecting one. The hostess met us right when she said she would and was very nice. She helped us find a market to shop for some food. The house was very close to Monet's home and gardens.
Cosy and elegant boutique hotel 15 minutes from the Monet house. This is a perfect place for a night's stay in the countryside. We stayed in a bigger room, and it was well worth it. The smaller rooms though do not have the same value for money.
