This little ski town truly has gorgeous views and is in a very beautiful natural setting. I wish we had been able to stay for more than just one night, but I’m glad we got a chance to go! Getting around is easy on foot. The town has lots of cafés and little shops. It also has a great outdoor gear store and a large shoe shop! When we were there a concert was being played and it was lovely to hear it from the outside of the structure where it was being played. Lovely town in the perfect summer location if you like walking or cycling up mountains (and skiing in the winter). The ideal place to get away from it all. Plenty of places to eat, supermarket, bars etc... Evolution bike hire were fantastic, can't recommend them enough. If you like cycling uphill, you must cycle up Lac de Cap-de-Long. We recently spent our 10 year anniversary traveling France and seeing a few stages of Le Tour de France. Our favorite stay, without a doubt, was in St. Laury at THIS hotel. Not only was our room charming with all the modern touches expected but it was in the perfect location too. Our host Pierre was helpful with tips and he even let us help him feed the chickens that provided us with fresh eggs for the full breakfast served each morning. AND, with local cheese, meats and fresh croissants. There are lovely gardens and several spots to sit and soak up the fresh mountain air. Attractive town, lovely scenic walks. Not too busy at the right time of year. La Grange restaurant very nice as well as the Kinto restaurant. The Grill in the main street also good for a pizza! All had friendly and helpful staff. When not in the peak holiday time a lot of restaurants are closed on a Sunday and Monday we found the first weekend we arrived. It had everything we needed, and private parking (not underground). You need to bring your own sheets and towels, as well as clean the apartment before you leave, but this was something that we knew before booking.
