Bakewell is a picturesque town, one complaint is the Original Old Bakewell pudding shop served us a small tart that did not match the image on the menu for the Bakewell pudding that we ordered and the £17 bill for two morsels and a pot of tea was extortionate.
Bakewell is a lovely, friendly, feels safe, nice to walk around and is relatively quiet (particularly out of season) but most if not all restaurants were closed Monday evenings. So having walked around the whole town looking for somewhere nice to eat we returned to eat in the hotel.
Lovely market town with quirky small shops Surrounded by beautiful Derbyshire countryside All staff in all the shops/pubs & cafes/coffee shops/gift shops really friendly Go to Bakewell you won’t regret it !
Great to use as a base to go out for days to see all the dales ,places like Chatsworth House etc . It’s nice to spend a few days in Bakewell there are shops and a nice antique place to mooch around . Lots of pubs who sell lovely food . Nice walks along the river
Very lovely, quaint town to visit. Lots to see and do. Sample the famous Bakewell Tart. Although many bakeries make it there and they are all a little different & say only they have it right! Very nice to visit the museum there, and to journey from there to Eyam and see the exhibit there about the plague that broke out there and how the town dealt with it. If you go, plan your visit to see the cattle market here as well!
Visited Buxton, Ilam, Leek, Castleton and Ashbourne during our stay. We ate at the hotel we were staying in, but had snacks at the Lime coffee shop in Bakewell, Tilly's in Castleton and the Pavilion tea room in Buxton. Lots of good walks around the areas if walking is an interest.

It is so charming and beautiful property. Our room was adorable in French blues. With crisp lovely white linens. Our host was welcoming and made a great breakfast. The breakfast area was very nice and had a nice view over the valley. Even though the trees were not in bloom this time of year it was very pretty. The village of Bakewell is perfect and close to other places to visit. We needed another 2 days to see more.

We liked the massive comfortable old fashioned bed, and the living room is very beautiful, all furnishings match in colours. The location is great, it's right in the centre of Bakewell, and close to everything. Kitchen has got all appliances and plenty of dishes to use. Heating is easy to operate, bathroom is spacious. We were greeted warmly and gifted a bottle of milk for our afternoon tea - lovely!
