A beautiful converted barn, with parking and a secure yard for the dogs to be free in, I couldn't ask for more. The paving in the yard remained cool to the touch throughout the heatwave which occurred during our stay, so it was always safe for our boys to be outside without burning their feet. We have stayed in places before with strict rules around dogs, not allowed on the furniture or the beds, there are no such rules here other than make sure they're clean, which you would do in your own home so no reason not to do it when you're away. Feeling relaxed that our boys are as welcome as us is what we're looking for when booking a holiday and that is exactly the environment Fiona has created here. All other facilities were amazing as well, a kitchen had everything we needed and more, tea, coffee, snacks, drinks and a pint of milk in the fridge. The TV had a few streaming options so we had plenty of entertainment. The bedroom/bathroom was very comfortable and I thought a good size, we didn't struggle in the slightest. As for the location, anything we wanted to visit was a short drive away or a beautiful walk to Lathkill Dale starts on the doorstep of the barn. This place is perfect in every way.

We went out and about during the day - walked Dragons Back and Kinder Scout. In the evenings we went into Bakewell where there were plenty of places to eat. We had a great roast on Sunday at the Rutland Hotel, a couple of minutes walk from the property.

The town is small and quaint, it's a great base to explore the peak district from with a good selection of local shops and pubs to explore locally. Parking in Bakewell itself is busy, I'd recommend finding nearby parking at your accommodation and walking in where possible

A lovely little town with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Special recommendation for the Charleston and Woodland yard pubs/restaurants Enjoyable walks along the river bank The town centre car parks get very busy, so a top tip is to use one of the many out of town car parks within a ten minute walk

The people in town were very friendly.

The people in town were very friendly. In shops and restaurants everyone talked to us. Of note were the Rutland Arms restaurant, as well as the Wheatsheaf Pub. And of course, the Bakewell tart shop. The town is charming. We came to visit Chatsworth House. But given more time we would have also visited Haddon Hall. The riverbank is also beautiful. The murmuration of starlings in the evening was another plus in an already charming town.

Great location, just up the road the centre of Bakewell and only around 10 minutes the other side from the local Bakewell brewery, which hosts family activities and serves great pizza. Lovely facilities to make a meal or enjoy a coffee and breakfast before heading out (but also very close to a great café - Lead Tin Yellow). Even though it’s on a main road, it’s very quiet inside and it doesn’t disturb a peaceful night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed. Overall, a great place to stay in Bakewell!
